ONTD Original: 10 more forgotten ~hunks~ from the 2000s — Part 2

$

Part 1 just wasn't enough. Who else have we forgotten, and where are they now??

1. Stephen Dorff
He started acting in the 80s and probably had his heyday in the 90s. But he was in Cecil B. Demented, Feardotcom, Deuces Wild, and Cold Creek Manor in the early 2000s. Since then, he's been in a bunch of stuff that this OP has never heard of. Notably though, he was in the 3rd season of True Detective. If you have nothing to watching during these times.... actually, no. Scrap that. Watch something else.

Here he is threatening Dennis Quaid in Cold Creek Manor.

He doesn't seem to have an Instagram, but I did find this fan account. Did you know that he's 5'5?

2. Eric Johnson
Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum who? Eric Johnson AKA Whitney Fordman on Smallville was only in 24 episodes, but he made enough of an impression to land on this list. Not to be confused with Jessica Simpson's husband of the same name OR Colorado Avalanche player Erik Johnson, he's been in a number of TV roles since Smallville!

Here he is, playing the douchey jock and threatening Clark. Bonus 2000s fun: Weezer's Island in the Sun plays while doing so.

He's still hot, as per his Instagram.

3. Justin Berfield
Did you stick around for Malcolm in the Middle after the Simpsons aired on a Sunday night, or was that just me? Playing Malcolm's brother Reese, Justin is no longer in TV, but has been the Chief Creative Officer of Virgin Produced since 2010. Owned by the Virgin Group, I'd say he's doing pretty well for himself. He also bought the house Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey used to live in.... but he eventually sold it. How many Jessica Simpson references will this post get?

He doesn't post much on Instagram, but when he does, he's in the great outdoors or showing off his ties to Richard Branson.

4. Mekhi Phifer
He was in a ton of late 90s/early 2000s teen movies. He also had Eminem reference him in a song... His roles have slowed down these days, but he played Max in the Divergent series (didn't ONTD call that franchise a flop?). He also starred in the now-cancelled CW series Frequency with other forgotten hottie Riley Smith. This OP highly recommends it, AND it's on Netflix!

Here's an overdramatic trailer for his film O.

His Instagram is full of throwbacks and family.

5. Jason Behr
Most famous for Roswell, he also starred in 7th Heaven, Dawson's Creek, Buffy, and a whole lot more. He now has a recurring role as Trip in Roswell, New Mexico. Other than that, he hasn't done much over the years. But he can wear the hell out of a deep V-neck shirt, as per his Wikipedia photo.

Here he is discussing his love for soju on a late-night interview:

Lots of wedding and family photos on his Instagram.

6. Romeo Miller
Formerly known as Lil Romeo, and heavily advertised as the son of Master P, Romeo (as he eventually went by) was in Max Keeble's Big Move, Honey, and had a show called Romeo!. He's had several roles over the years, but went on to play basketball for the USC Trojans until he was cut in his junior year. In the 2010s, reality TV took over as he was seen in Dancing With the Stars, Millionaire Matchmaker, Master P's Family Empire, and Celebrity Fear Factor. He's also the host of MTV's Ex on The Beach.

Don't forget his 2001 song, My Baby:

His Instagram shows off his accomplishments, some throwbacks, his fit body, and makes several references to looking for "a future baby mama."

7. Stuart Townsend
This one's for that ONTD user who mentioned him a few weeks ago! The Irish actor was in Queen of the Damned, Trapped, and Aeon Flux. His last film was in 2013, and he's had one-off roles in Elementary and Law & Order: SVU since then. He was dating Charlize Theron until she broke it off with him when they returned from a trip to Mexico in 2010. ONTD, have you ever broken up with someone after coming back from a vacation?

He really loves posting sky/nature shots... and there's a surprise shirtless selfie in there too.

8. Cam Gigandet
Maybe most famous for playing Kevin Volchok in season 3 of The OC, his life as a TV badboy didn't last too long before he got into films such as Never Back Down and the Twilight franchise. His daughter is well-known for being the "serious baby" as he was walking to brunch one day. That girl is 11 now. Do you feel old?? Here's that 2009 ONTD post, but none of the photos load any more :( Let's be honest though, you probably already know what they looked like!!

Please enjoy this fan-vid from 2007 highlighting his on-screen romance with Marissa Cooper.

He's deleted everything from his Instagram, but this fan account shows a pic from his daughter's 11th birthday, plus his fiancee and 2 other kids.

9. Adam Lavorgna
Bet you hadn't thought about the badboy who took Mary Camden to a hotel on Valentine's Day to have sex in awhile, did you? After starring as Robbie Palmer in 7th Heaven, his career seriously dwindled, with only 4 roles after that on Law & Order, Cold Case, and CSI Miami.

Here's his character doing community service, when he meets ONTD fave Jessica Biel's character. The rest is history.

He seems to live in Toronto now, as per his Instagram Staying out of trouble, it seems.

10. Luke Mably
This guy deserves a whole ONTD Original to himself, tbh. Best known as the Danish Prince in The Prince and Me, he had many more roles in the 2000s, but only 5 since 2010. Never mind that. Do you know that a whole franchise was spawned from The Prince and Me? Julia Styles was replaced in the second film by his now-wife, Kam Heskin. He didn't stick around for the third installment, but she did... and there's a Prince and Me 4 floating around too. Whew!

Time for another trailer. I think the guy who voiced the O trailer voiced this one, too:

Just a few more things to note on this film. Was it ahead of it's time? Hmm...
-It took place in Manitowoc, Wisconsin — yes, Steven Avery territory (Making a Murderer)
-The badboy prince decides he wants to quit the kingdom
-The king dies of the flu

He seems to like posting his dog on Instagram.

And that does it for this post! Stay tuned for an upcoming Original on the forgotten on-screen ladies of the 2000s.

ONTD ORIGINAL: Potential Best Original Song Winners for 2020 + "Should THAT have Won?"

$
0
0
So I've done this twice a year since like ...208, and I enjoy it. But we all know that only a smattering of movies came out before The Sickness, so this is a combo "Ha ha, the Academy has to acknowledge mainstream art and music!" and "Remember when we had movies? And nominated songs? And the Academy awarded the wrong one?"

so, once again...SONGS THAT MAY BE UP FOR THE BEST ORIGINAL SONG AWARD SIMPLY BECAUSE ALL OF MOVIEGOING IS THROWN OUT OF WHACK.

Normani + Megan Thee Stallion - "Diamonds" - Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)

"I don't need you, all my diamonds drippin' wet."

So far, we had 2 superhero movies come out this year. One was eh, and the other was "Birds of Prey". It's bombastic and fun, even if it's not the best song on the album (Which samples some other songs, so no nominations here).

Other potential awards should include production design, because it's coherent, fitting, and gaudy. And it should win for gaudy! Also "First DCEU film OP paid for since Suicide Squad."

Wiz Khalifa, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Yachty & Sueco the Child - "Speed Me Up" - from Sonic The Hedgehog

"So I run,
keep on me, they creep on me,
they speak on me, they slow down when they bring me up,
so speed me up."

It takes a bit to grow on you, but if Sonic can't deliver a good movie or game that's not a rehash of the originals, he damn sure can deliver a good song. This may be up in the air for a nomination, simply because it samples a bit from one of the original games in the chorus (True Sonic Fans will know when and where), but The Academy can't be picky.

Other nominations should include "Not as bad as it could have been." and "First somewhat passable vidya game movie."

Christina Aguilera - "Loyal Brave True" - from Mulan (202???)

"Should I ask myself in the water,
what a warrior would do?
Tell me, underneath my armor,
am I loyal, brave, and true?"

Again, another long shot....more because who knows if the movie will come out on it's new, shiny July release date? But like, it exists, and slim pickings, so...

Other potential awards include how should I know? Best director? Not likely, simply bc of the Academy's track record regarding these live action remakes.

Something from "In The Heights".

I don't even know if this has a new song in it. It wasn't delayed because of The Sickness, but bc it wasn't finished. Whatever. Moving on.

There's also an original song in Trolls 2, but you don't care. I don't care. I saw the movie and couldn't even remember what it was. I just assumed "Oh, it probably has an original song in there."

And, onto THESE SONGS WON, BUT LBR, SHOULD THEY HAVE?

Remember when, in spectacular fashion, The Academy fucked up on announcing Best Picture? Of course you do.

La La Land did win a multitude of things, including Best Original Song for "City of Stars", which, considering some of the talent involved, was not a bad song. But it wasn't the best the film had to offer.

The real best L3 song is clearly, Another Day of Sun.

"[behind] these hills I'm reaching for the heights,
and chasing all the lights that shine,
when they let you down,
[it's another day of sun]."

The choreography! The talent! The harmony! Probably wasn't nominated bc A) It's not a ballad, and B) it's not sung by anyone who is important in the film. Other nominations include Disney's Moana, with "How Far I'll Go"...which is still not the best song in that respective film either #JusticeForWhereYouAre

2018 Gave us, well, you know what Shallow is.

"I'm off the deep end."

It nails everything, it's a ballad, it's fun to sing! It would have been nice if Black Panther's "All The Stars" has won, or if "Pray For Me" was nominated, but it would have been ever better if Into The Spider-verse's "What's Up, Danger" was even nominated. Or even "Sunflower", as much as I don't really care for it, that song was every-fucking-where!

They had also nominated, from Mary Poppins Returns (to 0 fanfare), "The Place Where Lost Things Go", which was fine...but "The Royal Doulton Music Hall" was better:

"Yes, in this dearly dynamical,
simply ceramical,
Royal Doulton bowl,
there's a cuddly and curious
furry and furious,
animal watering hole."

ONTD Original: The Best Show You Aren't Watching, Quarantine Edition - Gintama

My darlingssSS, after a wee break your favourite Snakey is back with her suggestions yay! Some of us have been quarantined for over 40 days, and it is starting to affect moral. This is why today I'd like to suggest something that will allow us to escape from our grim reality for a bit, something so funny and ridiculous and happy that will give your day a different flavour. Ladies and Gents, today's rec is:

GINTAMA

(source)
Genre: Anime, Comedy

Why should I watch it?

Ridicously sexy Gintoki lives in feudal Japan, in a timeline where aliens have invaded earth and live among humans. Gintoki is an unemployed samurai who has an odd jobs "firm" and does anything that pays, which of course leads to hilarious (mis)adventures. Gintoki and his crew are the heroes we need for a bit of escapism.

Where can I watch it?

  • Youtube

  • Crunchyroll

  • Netflix (not US)

  • Hulu (according to Google)

  • Your usual places Snakey won't say

ONTD Health check: darlingssS, how are you dealing with the situation? Do you have someone to talk to? Are you sleeping enough, drinking plenty of water and doing a bit of exercise? Have you watched anything good lately?

ONTD Original: Gallery Girls - Where Are They Now?

Being under quarantine gives me a lot of time to ask myself some difficult questions. Did I fuck up my friendships? Am I going to die alone? Will I ever get out of student loan debt? But the most important one that haunts me at night is this: why did Chantal from Gallery Girls hate wines from Oregon so much? While I may never know the answers to any of these questions (except the student loan one, that’s a resounding NO) I am able to call upon my only friend during quarantine, Ask Jeeves Google, to find out what happened to Chantal and the rest of the castmates of Bravo's one-season wonder, Gallery Girls.

What was it? Gallery Girls was a show centered on seven women trying to make it New York’s art scene. The cast was split into two: the uptown girls and the downtown girls. The uptown girls represented the more traditional side of the New York art scene while the downtown girls attempted to showcase a more unconventional side of the New York art scene. The two groups seemed to be from two completely different shows. Bravo really dropped the ball trying to mesh them together. They tried to create tension by setting it up as uptown vs downtown, but it came across really weak and inauthentic. Honestly, they should’ve cut the uptown girls and focused solely on the downtown girls.

Liz Margulies
m8il4k-b78980927z-120120809174938000ggv19lvuj-1

Who was she?
Proving nepotism is alive and well even in the art world. Her father is a world-renowned art collector, Martin Margulies (his collection is said to be worth over $800 million). Liz’s storyline centered on her trying to break onto the scene using daddy’s name to do so. She was interning at Eli Klein Fine Art, but she wasn’t a typical intern. Using her connections, she made sure to get out of doing any grunt work.

Defining trait/scene/gif: She played up the stereotype of rich girl very well. She was mean and quick to judge I remember her revealing her relationship with her father was strained due to past drug addiction. She also really hated the Brooklyn girls, Amy and probably poor people.

Where is she now?
According to her LinkedIn, after the show, she got her master’s degree in Modern and Contemporary Art from Sotheby’s Institute of Art.1 She now owns her own art consultancy firm.2
Social Media:A private twitter3 and public Instagram4

Chantal Chadwick
entertainment-blogs-obsessed-2012-08-21-0821-gallery-girls-chantal-ob

Who was she?
She was the cool girl, the “not like other girls” girl. Her storyline revolved around opening a gallery/art space in the lower east side called End of Century. Chantal was more of a thinker, not a doer. She treated the gallery like a school project instead of a business. Which works because she was most definitely the kid who did zero work on the project and still expected top marks. She left most of the stress of running and promoting the gallery to castmate and co-owner, Claudia Reardon.

Defining trait/scene/gif:
Hating the following things: wines from Oregon, unattractive men hitting on her, and working.

Loved the following things:
Being cool, and liking the things you like before you knew it existed

Where is she now?
After End of Century flopped, she tried her hand at opening another art space in Brooklyn. I guess that failed too because soon after she moved to Los Angeles and is now a partner with creative agency, Assortment.5 She is also in a “collaborative ambient music project” called Pétra and they make soundscapes.6

Social Media:She has an Instagram 7and here’s her band’s Soundcloud if you’re interested.8

Maggie Schaffer
maggie-schaffer-a0d6b1fcd0bd3b19

Who was she?
Maggie was the eternal intern. She also interned at Eli Klein Fine Art, but she stopped showing up to work. She later came back to urge Eli to either give her an actual job or a recommendation so she could find a job and she somehow ended up back as just an intern? While Liz was able to coast by on her famous father’s name, Maggie had no such luck. She was given all the menial grunt work like changing the water bowl and making sure each bonsai tree had an equal amount of pebbles. The most egregious task she was ever given was when Eli ordered her to go down to Brooklyn to pick up something. Poor Maggie.

Defining trait/scene/gif: Maggie was a total pushover; absolute zero confidence in herself. Eli treated her like shit, her boyfriend treated her like shit, and she took it all. There also was a weird relationship with her boss, Eli. It was obvious the two fucked in the past and it didn’t work out, so Eli was treating her like shit because of it. On her trip to Brooklyn, she really showed her ass by calling it “ghetto” and fearing getting “jumped” on every corner

Where is she now?
It took me a while to find out about her because her last name had changed. Luckily, I found an article from a few years back that said she worked as an associate at the Erik Thomson gallery.9 I searched around, and she still works there but goes by Maggie Meem now.10

Social Media: I can’t find any for her and Google doesn’t help because it thinks I’m looking for “Maggie Meme”. There’s an old twitter11

Angela Pham
m8il4j-b78980927z-120120809174938000ggv19lvmg-1

Who was she?
Angela was a free-spirited photographer/model. At the time of the show, she was waitressing but wanted to make a career out of photography. She mentioned several times throughout the show that her parents, who were both doctors, were disappointed over her chosen path in life and would love nothing more than for her to become a doctor or lawyer. Angela’s storyline also revolved around her love life. She claimed she was tired of the guys she usually dated and wanted a serious relationship and maybe settle down, but she also had really high standards.

I remember in one episode on a blind date with a middle-aged man she admitted that she had a fantasy of getting with someone in the midst of a mid-life crisis, okay girl.

Defining trait/scene/gif: While Maggie lacked any confidence, Angela had it in spades. What Angela loved more than anything was herself and maybe also her clothes.

Looking back, she was a bit problematic. Remember in the early 2010s when every real housewife had her own group of “gays”. Pepperidge Farm remembers. Angela was the same way – she constantly referred to her friends as her “gays” or “the gays”. It was a bit much

Where is she now?
Angela made her dream into reality. According to her LinkedIn, she is a brand photographer and co-founded Deitch + Pham, a content production company.12

Social Media
She has an Instagram13 and her company website 14

Amy Poliakoff
gallery-girls11

Who was she?
Amy was an Upper East Sider and proud of it. She loved living in the apartment her father owned and paid for which gave her the opportunity to work as an unpaid intern for art advisor, Sharon Coplan Hurowitz. Her storyline revolved around her trying to be Sharon’s favorite intern and trying to be Liz’s bff. Problem is Liz hated her and Sharon clearly favored castmate, Kerri, over her.

Defining trait/scene/gif: Amy was an ass-kisser and couldn’t handle her liquor very well. It’s not surprising that recovering addict, Liz, didn’t want to hang out with Amy. She also had an air of superiority around her. She thought that because she had the expensive art training and education, everything should be a given for her. It really ruffled her feathers that Kerri, who knew almost nothing about art, was constantly given praise by Sharon.

Where is she is now?
According to her LinkedIn, Amy has moved down to Florida and she is now an art consultant at Eden Fine Art Gallery.15

Social Media:
I can’t find anything except an old twitter16 and Facebook.17

Claudia Martinez Reardon
gallery-girls06

Who was she?
Claudia was co-owner of End of Century and she struggled. Her parents had fronted her $15,000 to get E.O.C. up and running and Claudia spent the entire season worrying over paying them back. Claudia was in charge of the gallery side of E.O.C and found it difficult to get people to actually buy the paintings. She often clashed with friend and co-owner Chantal over their differing styles at running a business. Her storyline acts as a cautionary tale for anyone thinking about starting a business with their friends.

Defining trait/scene/gif?
I remember she really wanted to bone Chantal’s boyfriend. Her friendship with Chantal was the cause of most of her drama. The defining moment was when Claudia had had enough of Chantal’s carefree attitude regarding the business and called her a pathological liar.

Where is she now?
I don’t know where she is, do you? She’s my personal Carmen Sandiego – Where in the world is Claudia Martinez Reardon? This article says she’s a florist but that was from five years ago so who knows how accurate that is today.18
Edit: niftylicious found her! She has her own website and she's a writer now!

Social Media:
Only the skies and the oceans know.

Kerri Lisa
5aeee8ec9bd202e12d222da2f7274b87

Who was she?
Kerri was kind of mismatched with the rest of the cast. Her storyline revolved around her moving to the city and working hard to be able to survive and not have to move back to her parents in Long Island. Kerri worked full time as a personal concierge for the wealthy and had no formal or informal art training/education. She wanted to know more about art, so Kerri managed to get an internship with art advisor, Sharon Coplan Hurowitz. Throughout the season she struggled to juggle her demanding job and her demanding internship.

Defining trait/scene/gif: For being a newbie in the art world she was actually pretty good at it. Sharon praised her natural eye for art. But other than that, she was kinda boring.

Where is she now?
Her LinkedIn says she still works at the “lifestyle management” company she was working at on the show, but who knows if it’s still accurate.19

My darlingssSS, as we stuck at home many of us are missing the excitement of travelling. When are we going to be able to travel again? I don't know, but what I do know is that we can still "travel" with our imagination. So darlingssSS, join your favourite Snakey on a trip with ONTD's king Richard Ayoade, today's rec is:

Travel Man: 48 hours in..

(source)
Genre: Travel Documentary

Why should I watch it?

Because Richard Ayoade. If that isn't enough to convince you well shame on you!

Richard Ayoade, together with a different guest for each episode and destination, travels around and visits wonderful cities for 48 hours. The show has a dry humor and a fast pace, and it is of course coloured by Richard Ayoade and his humor and personality. The best thing about thsi show (imho) it allows you to indulge in mini breaks and shows how much you could spend. However, since travelling wont be possible for the foreseable future this cute little fun show can be excellent for a bit of escapism, and take you (at least with just your imagination) to different cities while you are stuck in your home. The show has 43 amazing episodes, and has had as guests many of Ayoade's former costars such as Chris O'Dowd and Noel Fielding among others.

Disclaimer: Our sweet king decided to leave the show after this season (s10), because he'd rather "stay home" (source). So I guess technically the show does continue, but since i do not care for Joe Lycett I am just going to pretend that the show has ended.

Here's a little taste to convince you to watch this show and "travel" with me:

(source)

Where can I watch it?

  • All4 (only in the UK)

  • Amazon Prime (not US)

  • Youtube (some episodes)

  • Hulu (according to google!)

  • Your usual places sSnakey won't say

ONTD, where would you like to travel to (if you could)?  What was your favourite trip/destination? Routine check: did you drink plenty of water, exercised a bit and took care of yourself?

ONTD ORIGINAL: Stan Life - Notable Stans of Notable People

I had this idea since before The Sickness hit (my comments say Feb. 14th), and thougt, finally to make it. Because if it wasn't for these people, I probably would not know that most of these people exist, as I rarely watch television or listen to top 40 hits.

I don't watch Riverdale (is that what it's called), but thanks to alienjive (I don't know which of your accounts to ping), I do know about Madelaine Petsche. Vaguely. A little. MTV has apparently given her movie awards, but I couldn't tell you in what. (That's not intended to be shady, it's me just not being 'with it' with the youth). She has lovely hair, and apparently can pull a bow and arrow.

For the longest time, I vaguely just scrolled pasts posts by this person...until yesterday.

I don't know about Bret Michaels, don't have anything against him, but whenHe was eliminated from The Masked Singer, I knew there was only one person whose views I wanted to see -  hotties_chicken.

It was their lone persistence that made me realize "Oh, this man is real? Other people besides that one person knows him?" (Remember, I'm not hip on pop culture) that entertained me far more than the actual broadcast. We thank you!

She even met him at a con, I remember the post!

I don't really know what Captain Both Sides is still doing outside of the MCU - Red Sea Diving Club? Did that come out? I hope people enjoyed it if so! OH wait, duh, there's "Defending Jacob" on Apple TV+! I was even in the post about it - "also lol @ the majority of apple tv posts being from two people about two different shows".

I'm taking this gif from the roundup because, could I really find a better one? Could I? Bc apparently today is his birthday as well!

Here are trailers for his latest movies, "The Green Knight" and "The Personal History of David Copperfield".

Oh No They Didn't Cover That! Here Are Some Rennerditions (ONTD Investigation Discovery Original)

$

Inspired - or at least tortured by knowing that G-Eazy and Ashley Benson released a cover of Radiohead/Albert Hammond Sr.'s "Creep", she has decided to bestow upon you some other awful cover songs. Some covers can be delightfully enjoyable like LaBelle's "Lady Marmalade" being updated for Christina Aguilera, MYA, Pink, Missy and Lil Kim, soul legend Charles Bradley covering Black Sabbath's "Changes", Johnny Cash covering "Hurt"

And then there are the others - and here are some questionable artistic choices to make your ears bleed during quarantine. It's time to tell these people to throw in the "tile". Just to mess with y'all, I'm not putting the originals lmaoooooooooooooooooo

1. Duran Duran "911 is a Joke". Original by Public Enemy, OP's blood pressure: 278999999/44

Now I am not screwing with you, this happened. This cover happened. It exists, it is listenable, it is accessible, people stood on this cover wit they whole chest. Like... the cacophony of mayonnaise mediocrity that is woven through this poor excuse of a song. Now, DD has given us pop perfection so to die on this hill. The bootleg Americana sound of Bob Dylan, that weird Chet Haze rap, it also tries to turn into a punk song. It's A lot going on.

2. The Blues Brothers "Soul Man". Original by Sam and Dave

Yes, they began as an SNL gimmick but are actually considered a real recording group. Flailing around on the stage like a roundworm that's on a hot sidewalk. THEY DON'T HAVE THE RANGE!

3. Travis "...Baby One More Time". Original by Britney Spears

via GIPHY

4. Dynamite Hack "Boyz-N-The Hood". Original by Eazy-E.

Ya know that wimpy sad sack who reads a CliffNotes on Marcel Proust and watched Dekalog and can explain to you about "seeing both sides" and you just don't understand? That's this guy - he would cover this song.

Oh and yeah, he says it.

5. A Perfect Circle "When the Levee Breaks". Original by Led Zeppelin and that was probably stolen by a black musician. Anyway, back to regularly scheduled program.

Granted covers from established bands shouldn't be a copy and paste of the original. But A Perfect Circle should have done that with this Zepp cover. It manages to be devoid of all emotion and sounds like what plays when you and ya moms hit the Homegoods.

6. Bruce Willis "Respect Yourself". Original by The Staple Singers. OP is white knuckling it, call for halp!

Chiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiile, know I know we have all been befuddled at this man abandoning his minor kids and wife to kick it with his ex-wife. Why is he bartending, gyrating, fooling America into thinking he had it. He had already established himself in Moonlighting and was inking deals for the Die Hard franchise. Dis was not needed.

7. Jeremy Renner "House of the Rising Sun". Mostly popularized by The Animals.

Yes, this song has been coveredT to hell and back but they at least always try to retain the grittiness of was in The Animals' version, Renner's fails miserably. Like that Jehovah's Witness grandma who says the song is the devil's work, but Renner's version is palatable and nice to her.

8. Pat Boone covering "Enter Sandman". Original by Metallica. (Teeheehee)

Let me explain to the chilluns - Pat Boone in the 1950s was a huge star, popular for his jazz/big band performances, Christian music, father of Debbie Boone who made equally wholesome music. To revitalize his career in the mid 90s, he released a whole album of metal covers but in his signature big band crooner style. His boomer audience was motherfucking shook. I am motherfucking shook. Lars Ulrich, you had to fight Napster but couldn't fight this?

ONTD Original: VERSUS: The Neptunes Vs. Timbaland

    font.jpg

This is a verzuz (versus) battle of the Neptunes productions against Timbaland’s. I tried to level out the field to the best of my ability. Instead of pulling random songs (which is super biased), I picked songs from the two artists that fit the same criteria. I also tried to exclude songs that Pharrell and Chad Hugo produced on their own. I pulled all the songs off of Wikipedia and used Discogs to fact check anything I was unsure about. I also am focusing on songs produced. Songs where Timbo or the Neptunes only wrote the lyrics versus contributing to the production or both will not be considered. I’ve picked ten songs to compete and asked four other ONTDers to choose their favorite of the bunch.

First Single:

The first singles released that Timbaland and The Neptunes each have a production credit on. Both acts have produced tracks before this but were either album-only songs or they didn’t receive official credit on it. Timbaland had a prior credit on Usher’s second single “Can U Get wit It” but as an accompanist. Pharrell contributed to both Wreckx N’ Effect’s “Rump Shaker” and SWV’s “Right Here (Human Nature Remix)” as Teddy Riley’s protege (you can hear Pharrell chanting SWV’s name on the latter song). Hugo and Williams also contributed lyrically to Blackstreet’s “Tonight’s the Night”. However, the first single the Neptunes produced as a duo was SWV’s “Use Your Heart”. Timbaland’s first single was Aaliyah’s “If Your Girl Only Knew”.
surfermedley: Use your heart - SWV. This was one of the stronger songs on the entire album.
hauntedstairs: Timbaland
saemcrh: Timb
stewie_e: Aaliyah - If Your Girl Only Knew
musicnkisses: I don’t like either but I think “If Your Girl Only Knew” is a bit more dynamic. So I picked that.
Winner: Timbaland

First Hot 100 Top Ten Hit:

Timbaland would get his first top ten hit with Ginuwine’s “Pony”, released one month after Aaliyah’s “If Your Girl Only Knew”. The song, Ginuwine’s debut single, best-known song, and what keeps the food on his table, peaked at #6 on the Hot 100 in 1996. It would take the Neptunes another two years before they’d score their first top ten song with Mase’s “Lookin' at Me” which peaked at #8 on the Hot 100 in 1998.
surfermedley: Pony all the way, I hated the production of Lookin’ at me.
hauntedstairs: Timbaland (just iconic. As soon as it starts, issa wrap)
saemcrh: Neptunes (this was hard)
stewie_e: Pony
musicnkisses: “Pony”! “Lookin’ At Me” is trash. Kanye sampling “Lookin’ At Me” >>>> that wretched Rihanna song though.
Winner: Timbaland

First Hot 100 #1:

Aaliyah and Timbaland would achieve their first respective number one single with 2000’s “Try Again”. The Neptunes would score their first number one hit in 2002 with Nelly’s “Hot in Herre”.
surfermedley: This one is extremely tough, but I’m going to give it to Try Again only because I shipped Aaliyah and Jet Li when I was younger.
hauntedstairs: Neptunes (Love Liyah but Try Again isn’t even one of her best songs for me. Hot in Here goes off)
saemcrh: Neptunes
stewie_e: Hot in Herre (ugh, this one was tough but added Summer ~nostalgia wins here)
musicnkisses: I like “Hot in Herre” more.
Winner: The Neptunes

Jay-Z:

Both Timbaland and the Neptunes worked intimately with Camel to craft some of his best songs. The most successful Timbo track was 2013’s “Holy Grail” ft Justin Timberlake from the album “Magna Carta Imma Scam By Having Samsung Drop This Album On All Their Phones”. The best performing Neptunes and Jay-Z song was 2003’s “Excuse Me Miss” from ‘“The Blueprint 2: The Gift and the Curse”.
surfermedley:Excuse me miss because fuck Justin Timberlake.
hauntedstairs: Neptunes
saemcrh: Neptunes
stewie_e: Excuse Me Miss
musicnkisses: Justin Timberlake ruined “Holy Grail”! “Excuse Me Miss” is perfect though. I wanna complain though, about Jay-Z saying “red or green pill”. I’ve never even seen the Matrix movies and I know it’s a blue pill. Nigga been out of touch for a long time.
Winner: The Neptunes

Pop Girls:

Nothing says crossover success like working with a pop star. Looking at top ten hits, the first hit single Timbaland produced for a pop girl was Nelly Furtado’s 2006 mega-hit single “Promiscuous'' which also featured him along with Justin Timberlake. The song peaked at number one on the Hot 100 and pretty much every other chart in existence at the time. (Yes! For the sake of this matchup, I did not consider Aaliyah a pop girl. Otherwise, I’d be reusing “Try Again”. I also did not include Missy Elliot as a pop girl. Lbr, ya’ll know she ain’t considered a pop girl. Don’t @ me). The Neptunes, on the other hand, gave us 2003’s “Milkshake” by Kelis. The song peaked at #3 on the Hot 100 as well as #2 in the UK. (NO! I didn’t use Britney! “I’m A Slave 4 U” underperformed in the US. Them the facts, I’m sorry).
surfermedley: Another hard one but I’ll go with Milkshake because the song still slaps
hauntedstairs: Timbaland (this was hard. What gave Timbaland the edge was the variety in the track. The verses are simple and then the chorus opens up. Milkshake’s production is the same the entire way. Once you hear the hook in the first 20 seconds, you know what to expect from the rest of track.)
saemcrh: Neptunes
stewie_e: Milkshake (ugh another tough pick 😭, but Milkshake remains iconic and still referenced today so...)
musicnkisses: “Milkshake” aged better.
Winner: The Neptunes

Soundtrack:

Both the Neptunes and Timbo have produced songs for film soundtracks. In Timbo’s corner, we have Aaliyah’s 1998 hit “Are You That Somebody?” from the Dr. Dolittle soundtrack. The blassic, not the Britney Spears endorsed one tainted by Ironman. In the Neptunes’ corner, we have Teriyaki Boyz’s 2007 song “Tokyo Drift” from one of them Fast and Furious movies. It was a hard decision to pick a Neptunes song mostly because this is one of those rounds where it’s obvious who will win and ain’t nobody fucking with Aaliyah since they’ve made some cute soundtrack bops. However, “Tokyo Drift” is a popular meme at the moment so why not?
surfermedley: Are you that somebody
hauntedstairs: Timbaland
saemcrh: Timb (this was SO hard smh)
stewie_e: Are You That Somebody
musicnkisses: “Are You That Somebody” is a classic. I don’t expect the Neptunes to win this round lol.
Winner: Timbaland

Cult Classic:

Here’s the song that might have not done super well on the charts but is synonymous with both the producers and the artists who released the song. We have the Neptunes with everyone’s favorite dope-dealing rappers The Clipse on the 2002 banger “Grindin’”. In Timbaland’s corner, we have Memphis Bleek’s “Is That Your Chick (The Lost Verses)” feat Jay-Z and Missy Elliot.
surfermedley: Grindin wins hands down!!!
hauntedstairs: Timbaland
saemcrh: Neptunes (also very unfair to me haha)
stewie_e: Grindin’
musicnkisses: Pusha T really been rapping about selling dope for twenty years. “Grindin’” is a bop tho.
Winner: The Neptunes

The One-Hit Wonder:

I went with the first one-hit wonder I could find in both acts’ careers. For Timbaland, we have Nicole Wray’s 1998 hit “Make It Hot” ft Missy Elliot and Mocha while the Neptunes gave us Beenie Man’s only hit stateside, 2002’s “Feel It Boy” ft Janet Jackson. Reminder that Billboard classifies a one-hit wonder as being an artist who only achieved one top 40 Hot 100 song during their career.
surfermedley: it pains me to say this but I have to give it to ‘Feel it boy’ but fuck that homophobic pos, Beenie Man
hauntedstairs: Timbaland
saemcrh: Timb
stewie_e: Beenie Man (feat Miss Jackson if You’re Nasty) - Feel it Boy (another Summer nostalgic pick)
musicnkisses: That Nicole Wray song is so tuneless. It’s awful. Beenie Man wins.
Winner: The Neptunes

Same Album: Justified (2002)

The Neptunes and Timbaland have crossed paths while producing for the same album. What was the first album both acts produced for? Justin Timberlake’s “Justified”! (actually, it might have been a Camel album but he already had an entire round dedicated to him). The Neptunes handled Mayo’s single "Rock Your Body" while Timbo pulled his weight on JT’s second single, the Britney slander track “Cry Me A River”. Fun fact: The Neptunes (in a rare post-2010 outing) and Timbaland produced tracks on “Mayo of the Woods”. Yikes.
surfermedley: Rock your body
hauntedstairs: Neptunes
saemcrh: Timb
stewie_e: Rock Your Body
musicnkisses: “Rock Your Body” is the better song although I prefer “Like I Love You” over it. I never liked “Cry Me a River”.
Winner: The Neptunes

Producer Turned Singer:

Both the Neptunes and Timbaland decided they wanted to also sing on the tracks they produced. Timb’s biggest hit is 2007’s “The Way I Are” ft DOE and throttled internet rights activist Keri Hilson. The song peaked at #3 on the Hot 100. While “Give It To Me” reached the summit, “The Way I Are” performed better on the end of the year chart. For the Neptunes, they are active with Shay Haley as N.E.R.D. N.E.R.D.’s biggest hit was 2017’s “Lemon” ft. Rihanna. The song peaked at a dismal #36 on the Hot 100. Rihanna ain’t been heard from since. I really wanted this to be Frontin’ lmao. :(
surfermedley:The way I are, that album is filled with bops after bops
hauntedstairs: Neptunes
saemcrh: Timb
stewie_e: The Way I Are
musicnkisses: “Lemon” is garbage. I really thought “Frontin’” was billed as the Neptunes ft. Pharrell. “The Way I Are” wins.
Winner: Timbaland

Most Recent Song:

The most recent song they’re produced, regardless of whether it was a single or not. Pharrell mostly produces by himself these days so the Neptunes’ output has slowed dramatically over the years. However, the Phineas and Ferb got the band back together in 2019 to produce Daniel Caesar's “Frontal Lobe Muzik”. Timbaland produced “10 Bands” from Joyner Lucas’ 2020 album “ADHD”.
surfermedley: 10 bands
hauntedstairs: Neptunes
saemcrh: Neptunes
stewie_e: Frontal Lobe Muszik
musicnkisses: I like “Frontal Lobe Muzik” more.

Winner: The Neptunes

F.Cuz - Jiggy (01/08/10) and ZE:A - Mazeltov (01/07/10)

Debut buddies: C.N Blue
Who was trending: Jokwon & Gain "We Fell In Love" & 2AM "Can't Let You Go Even If I Die"
Where are they now?: I'll be honest about F.cuz, I have no idea. Most of ZE:A have found careers after disbandment. Leader Moon Junyoung (Lee Hoo) now promotes as DJ ZE:After. Minwoo is a soloist. Kwanghee is on Weekly Idol and does lots of variety shows. Siwan and Hyungsik are still acting. Heechul is now a streamer on Twitch.

The Boss (DGNA) - Admiring Boy (03/04/10)

Debut buddies: Queens
Who was trending: T-Ara "I Go Crazy Because of You" & SNSD "Run Devil Run"
Where are they now?: Technically, they are still together although most members are pursuing individual careers. Member Mika left back in 2018. I follow Hyunmin on ig and it looks like he's doing art rn.

Sistar - Push Push (06/03/10) and Infinite - Come Back Again (06/09/10)

June was THE MONTH for kpop debuts in 2010. Both acts who debuted alongside one another became sucessful.
Debut Buddies: Orange Caramel (After School subunit)
Who was trending: Wonder Girls "2 Different Tears" and IU & Seulong "Nagging"
Where are they now?: For Sistar, Bora left Starship and now promotes as an actress. Hyolyn left to start her own company and pursue a solo career. Both Soyu and Dasom renewed with Starship.
Hoya left Infinite and Woollim back in 2017 after long contract renewal discussions. He is now a soloist with Glorious Ent. Myungsoo left Woollim in 2019 but is still a member. All members, former and current are in the military except Myungsoo who is currently acting. Leader Sunggyu was discharged this January. Lee Sungyeol will be discharged later this year.

Miss A - Bad Girl Good Girl (07/01/10) and Girl's Day - Tilt My Head (07/07/10)

Debut Buddies: Teen Top
Who was trending: Miss A dominiated the charts with their hit debut.
Where are they now?: Desipte a smash hit debut, and continued success, bad managment and the domination of Suzy as an "it girl" stunted Miss A. They disbanded in 2017 but by then member Jia had already left and they had only released one song after a solid three years of releases from 2010 to 2013. Jia is now back in China under Banana Culture, promoting as a soloist. Suzy has continued a steady acting career and left JYP in 2019. Fei has also left JYP and is now with Huayi Brothers in China. idc about Min.

Girl's Day has had some lineup changes since their debut, two members left early on and were replaced by Hyeri and Yura. Jihae left after "Oh! My God" promotions. All members have left Dream T in 2019 when their contracts expired. Hyeri has continued to do variety shows and acting. I'm not sure about the others.

Nine Muses - No Playboy (08/12/10)

Debut Buddies: GP Basic (I think???)
Who was trending: Secret "Madonna" and Homme "I Was Able to Eat Well"
Where are they now?: They've had a lot of lineup changes so I didn't track everyone down. I'm pretty sure they have all left Startship (good). I follow most of them on ig and, Sungah (joined later), Hyuna (joined later) and Eunji are all married or engaged. Eunji and Hyuna are expecting, and Sungah has had her child (a cute baby boy). Minha mostly does youtube and instagram stuff. I think Sera is also a youtuber and did a reaction video to No Playboy MV. Kyungri (joined later) is dating Jinwoon (former 2AM member) and still promoting as a singer/talent. Euarin is living that sweet rich kid life and posting pretty instagram pics and travelling.

Dalmation (DMTN) - Round 1 (09/01/10) and Coed School - Too Late (09/10)

Who was trending: 2NE1 "Go Away" and Supreme Team "Why ft. Young Jun"
Where are they now?: Dalmation only survived for three years which makes me sad bc I remember they had promise. Oh well, thats the kpop industry for you. Things came to a halt when Daniel was arrested for marijuana possession, he was sentenced to probation, and got married in 2018. Former leader Inati was at his wedding. Member Jeesu promoted as KIXS with Beautiful (A+), staring late Kara member, Goo Hara, before enlisting.

Coed didnt even last a year before being split into a girl group (F-ve Dolls) and boy group (Speed). F-ve Dolls only lasted until 2015 but at least they gave us Like This or That. After, Chanmi left and joined Pledis, then left and joined Doublekick. She took part in S1 of PD101 and ranked 26th. She joined Mix Nine but didn't make it (probably for the best) and then disappeared for a while and is now a soloist with FirstOne. Hyoyoung is the twin to Hwayoung (who joined T-ara and was a part of their bullying scandal), she left MBK after F-ve Dolls disbanded and is now an actress. There was some recent-ish controversy with them, as it was brought to light that they (the twins) were in fact the bullies. As for Speed, Taewoon (brother to Zico) joined Mix Nine after leaving in 2015. He too didn't make it to the top and is now a producer under the name "₩uNo" with MillionMarket. I believe Sungmin is now an actor.

OnlyFans "model" and documented philanderer Abel Pirela hosts threesome amid COVID-19 pandemic

Gay Twitter was already abuzz Monday after self-proclaimed bodybuilder and model Abel Pirela shared a selfie from his Los Angeles apartment the set of a new [OnlyFans video] shoot with two other himbos, despite a standing "Safer at Home" emergency order in the city. Now, details of his past infidelity and manipulation have brought things to a fever pitch.

In a lengthy thread posted by Twitter user @333ttx on March 25, it is alleged that the Venezuela-born Pirela spent one year having clandestine encounters with other men and working as an escort while married to a photographer going by the name "Mister Univerze." When friends alerted Univerze that they'd seen Pirela's photos on apps like Grindr and Scruff, he realized that the 25-year-old had wed him as a means of securing a Green Card and that those close to him didn't know Univerze existed.

( Click for full thread )

Univerze ended the relationship on February 20, after being sent a video recording of Pirela cheating on him while on vacation in Miami, but the split was anything but amicable. In videos posted to his Instagram story, Univerze shared how Pirela (among other things) ruined one of his cameras with water and broke down his bedroom door in order to retrieve belongings from his closet. He said that Pirela then took to his own social media to say he was the victim in the relationship, accusing Univerze of physical assault while continuing to email him, a narrative he continues to perpetuate in the midst of a global pandemic.

As of this writing, Pirela has 528,000+ followers on Instagram and has received 16,400+ likes on OnlyFans, where he charges $9.99/month to view his content.

ONTD Reading Challenge: Real Housewives Yelling at Cat

$
0
0
Hello everyone, it’s gonna be May and the reading challenge keeps on. We (hjalmartazarmilfordacademy) hope you guys are safe and well. Let us be distracted from our horrible dystopian present with this month’s delightful challenge task, which is to read a book about a cat or where a cat is an important or memorable character. As we all know, cats are perfect and a wonderful gift, so it’s no wonder there are so many books written about them or featuring memorable cats because honestly, what cat isn’t memorable.

THE MASTER AND MARGARITA
by Mikhail Bulgakov

One hot spring, the devil arrives in Moscow, accompanied by a retinue that includes a beautiful naked witch and an immense talking black cat with a fondness for chess and vodka. The visitors quickly wreak havoc in a city that refuses to believe in either God or Satan. But they also bring peace to two unhappy Muscovites: one is the Master, a writer pilloried for daring to write a novel about Christ and Pontius Pilate; the other is Margarita, who loves the Master so deeply that she is willing literally to go to hell for him. What ensues is a novel of inexhaustible energy, humor, and philosophical depth.

I AM A CAT
by Natsume Sōseki

I am a cat. As yet I have no name.

So begins one of the most original and unforgettable works in Japanese literature.

Richly allegorical and delightfully readable, I Am a Cat is the chronicle of an unloved, unwanted, wandering kitten who spends all his time observing human nature - from the dramas of businessmen and schoolteachers to the foibles of priests and potentates. From this unique perspective, author Sōseki Natsume offers a biting commentary on the social upheaval of the Meiji era.

THE TRAVELLING CAT CHRONICLES
by Hiro Arikawa

Nana the cat is on a road trip. He is not sure where he's going or why, but it means that he gets to sit in the front seat of a silver van with his beloved owner, Satoru. Side by side, they cruise around Japan through the changing seasons, visiting Satoru's old friends. He meets Yoshimine, the brusque and unsentimental farmer for whom cats are just ratters; Sugi and Chikako, the warm-hearted couple who run a pet-friendly B&B; and Kosuke, the mournful husband whose cat-loving wife has just left him. There's even a very special dog who forces Nana to reassess his disdain for the canine species.

But what is the purpose of this road trip? And why is everyone so interested in Nana? Nana does not know and Satoru won't say. But when Nana finally works it out, his small heart will break...

THE GUEST CAT
by Takashi Hiraide

A couple in their thirties live in a small rented cottage in a quiet part of Tokyo; they work at home, freelance copy-editing; they no longer have very much to say to one another. But one day a cat invites itself into their small kitchen. It leaves, but the next day comes again, and then again and again. Soon they are buying treats for the cat and enjoying talks about the animal and all its little ways. Life suddenly seems to have more promise for the husband and wife — the days have more light and color.

The novel brims with new small joys and many moments of staggering poetic beauty, but then something happens….

SABRIEL
by Garth Nix

Sent to a boarding school in Ancelstierre as a young child, Sabriel has had little experience with the random power of Free Magic or the Dead who refuse to stay dead in the Old Kingdom. But during her final semester, her father, the Abhorsen, goes missing, and Sabriel knows she must enter the Old Kingdom to find him.

Sabriel, the first installment in the Abhorsen series, is a novel that takes readers to a world where the line between the living and the dead isn't always clear—and sometimes disappears altogether.

I COULD PEE ON THIS
by Francesco Marciuliano

Cat lovers will laugh out loud at the quirkiness of their feline friends with these insightful and curious poems from the singular minds of housecats.

In this hilarious book of tongue-in-cheek poetry, the author helps cats unlock their creative potential and explain their odd behaviour to ignorant humans.

With titles like Who Is That on Your Lap?, This Is My Chair, Kneel Before Me, Nudge, and Some of My Best Friends Are Dogs, the poems collected in I Could Pee on This perfectly capture the inner workings of the cat psyche.

THE WIND-UP BIRD CHRONICLE
by Haruki Murakami

In a Tokyo suburb a young man named Toru Okada searches for his wife's missing cat. Soon he finds himself looking for his wife as well in a netherworld that lies beneath the placid surface of Tokyo. As these searches intersect, Okada encounters a bizarre group of allies and antagonists: a psychic prostitute; a malevolent yet mediagenic politician; a cheerfully morbid sixteen-year-old-girl; and an aging war veteran who has been permanently changed by the hideous things he witnessed during Japan's forgotten campaign in Manchuria.

CATWINGS
by Ursula K. Le Guin

Mrs. Jane Tabby can't explain why her four precious kittens were born with wings, but she's grateful that they are able to use their flying skills to soar away from the dangerous city slums where they were born. However, once the kittens escape the big city, they learn that country life can be just as difficult!

VARJAK PAW
by S.F. Said

Mesopotamian Blue cat, Varjak Paw, has never been Outside before; he and his family have always lived in the isolated house at the top of the hill. But Varjak is forced out into the city when the sinister Gentleman and his two menacing cats take over his home. With help from his mystical ancestor, Jalal, Varjak manages to overcome challenges such as self-survival and a threat from the gangland cats, and he ultimately discovers the terrifying secrets behind the Vanishings. But can he save his own family from their fate?

THE PHILOSOPHER CAT
by Kwong Kuen Shan

A new, lavishly illustrated book of philosophy and cats, from the author and illustrator of The Cat and the Tao.

Kwong Kuen Shan has gathered together forty beautiful illustrations of the animal many people hold dear to their hearts, accompanied by forty Chinese proverbs or sayings. These cats are instantly recognizable: the playful and adventurous cat; the languid cat; the philosopher cat. With the same style and lightness of touch that made The Cat and the Tao such a delight, this is a beautiful book that cat-lovers will treasure.

CATFANTASTIC

Two of the biggest names in the fantasy field have put together a unique collection of fantastical cat tales for friends of furry felines. Cats work a special magic in these stories from the future, from the past, and from dimensions people never dream of.

CAT STORIES
Compiled by Diana Secker Tesdell

Two centuries of literary homages to the fascinating feline: stories by writers of every stripe--from P.G. Wodehouse to Doris Lessing, from Damon Runyon to Steven Millhauser.

The essential unknowableness of cats has inspired many flights of fancy: Italo Calvino's secret city of cats in "The Garden of Stubborn Cats," the disappearing feline in Ursula K. Le Guin's mind-twisting "Schrodinger's Cat," the cartoon rodent and his cartoon nemesis in Steven Millhauser's "Cat 'n' Mouse." Cats flaunt their superiority in Angela Carter's bawdy retelling of "Puss-in-Boots" and in Stephen Vincent Benet's "The King of the Cats," in which two impossibly suave foreigners are revealed as even more exotic than they pretend to be. In "The Islands" by Alice Adams and "I See You, Bianca" by Maeve Brennan we see how much cats can mean to their humans. And the inimitable Saki lets us hear what cats really think of us in "Tobermory," his tale of a tactless talking animal.

by Deborah Howe, James Howe, Alan Daniel (Illustrator)

BEWARE THE HARE!

Is he or isn't he a vampire?

Before it's too late, Harold the dog and Chester the cat must find out the truth about the newest pet in the Monroe household -- a suspicious-looking bunny with unusual habits... and fangs!

ONTD Original: Monthly Movie Challenge - May

Another 10-task challenge. You obviously don’t need to do all 10 tasks, choose as many as you want, but I figured it gives you some variety and allows you to pick and choose movies that fit your taste but also maybe lead you to watch something you wouldn’t normally seek out. For each task, you can pick whatever movie fits within the guidelines, I've added links to help you out. I tried to add tasks that would allow you to get movies on Netflix, Amazon Prime, and/or Hulu – but there’s also Kanopy and Hoopla (both of which you can get free access through your library or university). Have a different movie for each task – that is, don’t have the same movie for task 2 and task 6.

Tasks:
1. May 1st is Space Day. Watch any movie about space, taking place in space, or someone heading to space, whatever.
2. May 6th marks the 15th anniversary of Crash, widely known as one of the worst Best Picture winners of all time. Watch any movie that was nominated for Best Picture and has a Metacritic score of 70 or below (Moulin Rouge! being an option is offensive, it doesn’t deserve this disrespect).
3. Watch any movie featured on the Letterboxd list of the 50 most obsessively rewatched films.
4. Watch any movie set in LA.
5. Watch any streaming original movie (maybe it was always an original or became one after theater closures, it doesn’t matter).
6 and 7. Twin Films. Every so often movies come out around the same time that are pretty identical. Watch any 2 movies that came out around the same time and are similar (HERE is some ideas, but there are definitely more options out there).
8. Watch any movie featured on Rotten Tomatoes list of the 150 Best Films Directed by women in the 21st century.
9. Watch any movie that was released the year you were born.
10. Stanley Tucci is seemingly in everything. Watch a movie he’s in.

ONTD, what do you plan on watching this month? What did you watch during the month of April?

ONTD Original: The Best Show You Aren't Watching, Quarantine Edition - Harley Quinn

DarlingssSs! Today's rec is the best thing that DC gave us after shirtless Henry Cavill, the uber fun, violent and unapologetic:

Harley Quinn

Genre: Animation, Superhero/Antihero

Lenght: 30 mins

Why should I watch it?

Yesterday's episode was all about
Yep you read that right! DC made fun of Snyder's fanboys and it was GLORIOUS!

Also, well this show reminds me very much of the Batman: Animated Series but without the nostalgia trick, it truly is THAT good! It has humor, violence and some "grown up moments", such as Harley's growth and realisation that her relationship with Joker was toxic, her relationship with Poison Ivy, and their path towards full anarchy (possibly domination of Gotham). This show is a gem, give it a try!

Where can I watch it?

  • DC Universe

  • Amazon Prime (you can buy/rent the series?)

  • Your usual places Ssnakey won't say
