ONTD Original: Seven foods, fruits & vegetables celebrities refuse to eat, part one

$

0

Shawn Peter Raul Mendes
has gone on record several times to express that he is simply not a fan of tomatoes. “I’ve never liked tomatoes: they taste horrible, they ruin sandwiches and they seem to be in everything,” said Mendes during an interview with Stellar Magazine.

You’re entitled to your wrong opinion, Raul.

Yes, despite being an advocate for healthy eating habits and more fruits & veggies in your diet, even Michelle Obama isn’t a fan of one particular vegetable. Beets. In a 2017 interview with Food & Wine she said, “I know that I’m known for eating my
vegetables, and there really isn’t much I don’t enjoy. But I’m just not a fan of beets.”

Ina Garten admits she does not like cilantro and won’t use it in any of her cooking or recipes. “I know people love it, and you can add it to the recipe. I just hate it. To me it’s so strong — and it actually tastes like soap to me — but it’s so strong it overpowers every other flavor.” You see, for some people this is genetic. They have a certain group of olfactory-receptor genes which will make cilantro taste like soap to them.

Chrissy Teigen has made it very clear she does not care for the sweetened hazelnut cocoa spread Nutella. In 2014, she tweeted “nutella is shit.” The year before that, she called hummus overrated. This second one is just an honorable mention, I won’t count it since she simply called it overrated — which is false.

The Original American Idol Winner and vocal icon Kelly Clarkson shared her dislike for brussels sprouts in 2015. “I hate brussels sprouts and can’t stand that every time I say that, somebody always says, ‘Oh, but you’ve never tried mine!’” said Clarkson. “I love and eat every kind of vegetable, but not that one.”

Jimmy Fallon has gone on record to share his own disdain for mayonnaise. During a game of random picture association, a jar of mayonnaise appeared and he said “Ew! That's so gross,” in the voice of his character Sarah. Then he further elaborated saying, “That is the worst thing in the entire world. It reminds me of pus.”

Ok, but how does that explain Fallon being so cozy and best friend’s with mayonnaise itself. Going as far as grabbing a jar of mayonnaise’s crotch in GQ. Explain yourself, liar!

In a 2016 interview, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said he never had a strawberry in his life. That changed in 2018 when he finally tasted a strawberry, but he had this to say about the delicious fruit. “I just don’t like them. At the end of the day, I just don’t like the taste,” stated Brady. “I don’t like the smell, the texture or anything. It doesn’t really have to do with my diet, it’s just more of my preference, but somehow it got wrapped into my diet.”

Food Disclaimer: These thoughts & often wrong opinions do not reflect upon the OP unless otherwise noted.

18 Years Later: A Look Back at Bjork's Iconic Swan Dress

On March 25, 2001, Bjork attended the Oscars, as one of the nominees for Best Original Song. She would lose the award to Bob Dylan but she would win by wearing one of the most iconic Oscar dresses of all time. Comedian Joan Rivers would remark that Bjork should be "put into an asylum" while Canadian TV Host Steven Cojocaru called it "probably one of the dumbest things I've ever seen", exposing themselves both as fashion critics with no appreciation for the interesting or absurd. Bjork, humble queen, would late respond "it's just a dress".

The dress, designed by Marjan Pejoski, came with six eggs for Bjork to "lay" on the red carpet.

bjorkeggfinal.jpg

Now a pop culture icon, the dress has since been parodied many times. In the year following it's original appearance, it would be parodied by both Ellen Degeneres and Kevin James, at the Emmy's and People's Choice Awards respectively.

comedianparodies.jpg

The dress would also later be parodied in Razzie nominated movie, White Chicks.

white-chicks.png

Versions of the dress would also appear in tv shows such as Hannah Montana, The Fairly Odd Parents, Kim Possible, MadTV, Archer, Leverage, and RuPaul's Drag Race.

tumblr_nm309nzQeN1qiohboo6_400.gif

In 2014, the Fashion world would finally try and right their wrong against Bjork, when it was reimagined at the Valentino Spring 2014 Couture fashion show at Paris Fashion Week.

ONTD Original: A Look Back At Michael Jackson's Anti-Semitic Phone Call

$
0
0

- In 2005, ABC's 'Good Morning America' obtained a tape that was given to them by the lawyer of Dieter Wiesner and Marc Schaffel, who were Michael Jackson's ex-advisers and were suing the singer at the time for breach of contract and fraud. The tape was of a phone call between Jackson and Wiesner that was recorded two years prior, and it contained Jackson going on an anti-Semitic rant.

- Jackson is heard saying "They suck...they're like leeches...I'm so tired of it. They start out the most popular person in the world, make a lot of money, big house, cars, and everything. End up with penniless. It is a conspiracy. The Jews do it on purpose."

- Brian Oxman, who was Jackson's attorney at the time, didn't deny that it was Jackson on the phone call but said that the conversation was recorded without his permission. Raymone Bain, Jackson’s spokesperson, said that Jackson had “no comment” when asked for a response to the tape.

- Abraham Foxman, who was the National Director of the Anti-Defamation League at the time, said: "It is sad that Jackson is infected with stereotypical ideas of Jews as money-grubbing and manipulative."

- In 1995, controversy stirred over a portion of the lyrics to Michael's song They Don't Care About Us:

"Beat me, hate me
You can never break me
Will me, thrill me
You can never kill me
Jew me, sue me
Everybody do me
Kick me, k*ke me
Don't you Black or white me"

- After being called out for anti-Semitism by the Jewish community and publications like The New York Times, Jackson responded "The idea that these lyrics could be deemed objectionable is extremely hurtful to me, and misleading. The song in fact is about the pain of prejudice and hate and is a way to draw attention to social and political problems. I am the voice of the accused and the attacked. I am the voice of everyone. I am the skinhead, I am the Jew, I am the black man, I am the white man. I am not the one who was attacking. It is about the injustices to young people and how the system can wrongfully accuse them. I am angry and outraged that I could be so misinterpreted."(OP's note: I never bought this excuse because this song and the HIStory album were made after the first time he was accused of child molestation. Most of the songs on the album are about how, in his mind, everyone is out to get him for his money, and how he's the real victim. The "Jew me, sue me" part, in particular, can be seen as a reference to how many times he has been sued, and it plays into the Jewish people and money trope.)

- He would also say "It's not anti-Semitic because I'm not a racist person...I could never be racist. I love all races." He also pointed out how he had Jewish friends and employees.

- Jackson later apologized and re-recorded the song the altered lyrics. The words "Jew me" and "k*ke me" are bleeped out in the official video for the song, but they can still be vaguely heard:

April's task in the ONTD Reading Challenge is to read a book that involves time-travel - and get lost in the pages like Robin Williams (or Nick Jonas in the remake) did in the game Jumanji.

As always, milfordacademy and myself have come up with ten suggested titles. Feel free to talk about the book(s) you plan on reading or any books on the theme that you'd recommend!

by Connie Willis

For Kivrin, preparing an on-site study of one of the deadliest eras in humanity's history was as simple as receiving inoculations against the diseases of the fourteenth century and inventing an alibi for a woman traveling alone. But a crisis strangely linking past and future strands Kivrin in a bygone age as her fellows try desperately to rescue her. In a time of superstition and fear, Kivrin--barely of age herself--finds she has become an unlikely angel of hope during one of history's darkest hours.

ONTD Original: These Were Mall Concerts

Having up and coming pop stars performing at malls scarcely exists today but was a true relic of 80s/90s/and a bit of 2000s yesteryears. Safiya Nygaard in her dressing like it was 1987 video lowkey gave me a frame of reference of how it was an actual thing for artists to reach out to younger audiences by being at the mall and for youth culture, especially noted in the 80's classic Tiffany's "I Think We're Alone Now" music video and the loosely parodied "Let's Go to the Mall". Maybe some of your very own favs had their humble beginnings #booking that #stagethat was right next to the escalators.

Who knows if this is a pathetic pr move or if it actually helped gain audiences or if it could gain traction if more people did it today. From stand-alone concerts to actual mini tours, here are 10 instances of musicians jamming it out in the middle of a mall. If this post inspired you to go shopping, you can catch stewie_e's list of shopping songs to further get you in the mood.

Britney Spears - Hair Zone Mall Tour (1999)

Debutney did an early promotional mall tour *WITH live vocals for her debut album sporting a Spongebob-esque ensemble school uniform moment in reference to her debut hit single "Baby One More Time" and the music video for it that featured a school theme - the debut and beginning of an array of other iconic looks, hits, and music videos by Britney.

It was a debut that gave us an insight that A Star was Born, that she was American dream since she was 17, and a part of that debut took place in a mall. The fans were already hyped for the debut of a living legend, and not many pop artists debut with such warm welcomes. #debut

Songs also included: "Sometimes", "Crazy", "Born to Make You Happy"

Tiffany - Mid Rivers Mall (2017)

The legend so famous she only goes by her first name Tiffany celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Full House-featured hit in a St. Louis mall a couple of years ago and showed the 80's girls what they shoulda did by giving this meta performance, and life imitates art.

She is surprisingly booked and busy this year as an opener for New Kids on the Block following other 80's acts who are opening for them including then-pop rival Debbie Gibson, Salt-N-Pepa, and Naughty by Nature.

Willa Ford - Nautica Girl Tour (2000)

Before "Dirrty", the bad girl of pop was Willa Ford of "I Wanna Be Bad" fame. The large blue tinted 2000's glasses, crop top, and baggy pants gave us peak Y2K aesthetics.

She also performed the song "Not Such an Innocent Girl", assuming before it was snatched by posh queen Victoria Beckham and became a top 10 hit in the UK.

David Archuleta - SM Fairview (2012)

American Idol contestant of mormon background David Archuleta performed the late 2000's hit "Crush" mostly on pitch and gave the Filipino audience their life in a Manilla mall. He continued to cater to his Filipino audience that year releasing a cover album of Filipino songs called Forevermore, exclusively released in the Phillipines.

Avril Lavigne - Toronto Mall (2004)

Pioneer of punk and Alanis Morissette of 2000s Avril Lavigne was widely well known by the time she released "My Happy Ending" and was met with a frenzy performing an acoustic set in a Canadian mall in 2004 - a definitive moment of punk mall rat culture of the 2000s. I don't know how long this mall tour was but she also performed in California during this time as well.

Songs included "He Wasn't", "My Happy Ending", "Sk8er Boi", "Don't Tell Me", "Take Me Away", "Nobody's Home", and "Complicated"

Ariana Grande - Macy's Summer Blowout (2011)

Transracial woman of pop Ariana Grande did a set of concerts with Macy's even before her first album was released. She gave us a peep at the doo-wop theme of Yours Truly but did mostly covers.

Other songs include: "Only Girl" (Rihanna cover) and a mashup of "Born This Way" and "Express Yourself" (shade but come through with the Italian pride)

Lady Gaga - IKEA Parking Lot (2008)

San Diego's 933 FM radio station pulled together a concert for charity in an IKEA parking lot (not a mall, but fits in with the retail vibe of this post) and one of the performers included now Oscar and 9x Grammy winner Lady Gaga. She danced, gyrated, and hyped the crowd to donate toys for children in need. Maybe she had some Ikea meatballs afterwards that day.

Songs included: "Beautiful Dirty Rich", "Poker Face", "Just Dance"

Nobody's Angel - Houston Mall (2000)

True 2000's kids who watched Boy Meets World re-runs, Model Behavior, and Life-Size would faintly remember this short-lived girl group Nobody's Angel and their "As Long As You Love Me" attempt semi-smash in the Disney world "I Can't Help Myself". The uploader of this video also has footage of more early 2000's pop acts including Britney's mall concert.

Dream - Macy's DKNY Music Mania (2001)

Dream of "He Loves You Not" and "This is Me" fame did a medley of their hits giving you the whitest girl group performance skills ever, with a mish mash of live singing and lipsyncing. OP just discovered that the original "This Is Me" and not the remix is actually a bop.

The girls did a nostalgic tour a few years ago called My2K Tour including a slew of forgotten acts including 98 Degrees, Ryan Cabrera and O-Town.

Other songs included: "What We Gonna Do About Us"

Debbie Gibson and Tiffany - Mall of Asia (2018)

The two rivaled (by the media) 80's queens Debbie Gibson and Tiffany showed us unity, empowerment, and harmony covering Journey's "Don't Stop Believin" in Mall of Asia (this Filipino Mall actually has its own arena and is the 14th largest mall in the world #themoreyouknow). Maybe we can hope for a Britney and Christina performance one day to announce peace and pop prosperity - don't stop believin indeed.

Have you ever witnessed a mall concert before?

It Happened One Night (1934)

* Clark Gable won an Oscar for his performance but later gave the statue to a child who admired it. Gable reportedly said that the winning of the Oscar is what mattered, not the owning it. The child returned the Oscar to the Gable family after Clark's death.

* Bugs Bunny is said to be inspired by this film: the personality of Oscar Shapely and the way Peter Warne (Gable) eats a carrot.

* first movie to win the Oscar "Grand Slam": Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Screenplay. (The only other 2 movies to do this were One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and The Silence of the Lambs.)

Singin' in the Rain (1952)

* Gene Kelly, a notorious taskmaster, clashed often with newbie dancer Debbie Reynolds. At one point Fred Astaire, working in a nearby dance studio, found Reynolds crying under a piano. He comforted her and told her all her hard work was worth it.

* when Kathy Selden (Reynolds) is dubbing Lina Lamont (Jean Hagen) it is actually Hagen herself speaking. So Jean Hagen is dubbing Debbie Reynolds who is dubbing Jean Hagen.

* Cyd Charisse had to be taught how to smoke a cigarette during the Broadway sequence. She's stated that she never smoked another cigarette after that.

Harvey (1950)

* at the suggestion of James Stewart, the director widened several shots so "Harvey" could fit into frame.

* the cast and crew would often set out an extra chair at lunch for "Harvey" and even order him something to eat.

* director Henry Koster loved working with Stewart: "without any doubt one of the most pleasant experiences of my life...It must have been his spirit. There was very little friction, ever, only ambition and craftsmanship and precision, just doing it right professionally. On top of that he put the whipped cream of great talent...He was always the first on the set."

The Women (1939)

* There are over 130 roles in this movie, all played by women. Every animal is female as well.

* When Rosalind Russell was seen dancing with the director at the wrap party, she was told "If you want more close-ups in the picture, never mind dancing with your director, you'd better dance with Norma Shearer!" Without missing a beat, she grabbed Shearer by the hand and danced her across the floor.

* One of Freddie Mercury's favorite films.

Meet Me in St. Louis (1944)

* the Halloween sequence was primarily filmed with low angles so the audience would get a better feel of how children experienced it.

* the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition (featured in the movie) is believed to have popularized the waffle-style ice cream cone. It also first introduced Dr. Pepper to a national audience. (OP note: thank you from this Diet Dr Pepper stan. It's the sweet one!)#notsponsored

* Judy Garland met her husband Vincente Minnelli on the set of this film. She later claimed she married him because she felt so beautiful during filming.

** this isn't wholesome but I wanted to point out that Margaret O'Brien sounded like a little shit on set. She was an angel when her mother was around and a demon when she wasn't. (AKA the set up for the WORST episodes of every 80s & 90s sitcom ever.) She particularly liked to mess with the prop master, rearranging the table settings after he meticulously set them up. She very well knew he wouldn't yell at her because she was one of the stars so all she got was an exasperated, "Please, Maggie dear!"

the poor Meet Me in St Louis prop master:

Cool Hand Luke (1967)

* for one of the movie's most famous scenes 200 hard boiled eggs were prepared. Thanks to clever editing, Paul Newman only ate about 8. The rest was fed to the cast and crew which led to a very smelly set. :(

* Jack Lemmon was originally selected to play Luke. After reading the script, he felt Paul Newman was a better fit. Lemmon took on a producing role instead.

* Paul Newman requested that the writers not tailor the script to him or his strengths. He wanted a part that would challenge him.

ONTD Original: 2005 - A year of one hit wonders, Pt. 2

iPiccy-Design.png

PART ONE

Fourteen years ago, artists like Howie Day, DHT, and The Click Five were topping the charts. Many of the artists who created their major 2005 hits were never able to replicate the success. However, it's always fun to revist the past and remember what we were doing when we were listening to these songs back in the day. This list continues "part two" of our 2000's one hit wonder series. Let's take another look at the best one hit wonders of the year 2005!

ANNA NALICK - BREATHE (2 AM)

Anna Nalick's "Breathe" was first released in 2004. The song was then re-released in 2005 and peaked at no. 45 on the Billboard Hot 100 and no. 4 on the Adult Contemporary in the United States, as well as no. 79 in Australia. The song found its highest national chart position in New Zealand, where it peaked at no. 37. "Breathe (2 AM)" has been certified Gold by the RIAA.

CAESARS - JERK IT OUT

Swedish rock band Caesar released "Jerk It Out" in April 2003 as the lead single from their album Love for the Streets. By 2005, the song was an international success, reaching no. 8 on the UK Single Chart and peaking at no. 70 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

DAMIEN MARLEY - WELCOME TO JAMROCK

Damien Marley's "Welcome To Jamrock" was released in March 2005 as the lead single from his album of the same name. The song peaked at no. 55 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and reach no. 13 in the United Kingdom.

CRAZY FROG - AXEL F

In 2005, Crazy Frog recorded the song, releasing it as "Axel F", though it was also known as the "Crazy Frog song". The novelty song is Crazy Frog's first and most internationally successful single. After the remix was arranged, the song was later marketed as a ringtone. The song peaked at no. 1 across most major charts around the world and peaked at no. 50 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

THE BRAVERY - AN HONEST MISTAKE

"An Honest Mistake" was released as The Bravery's debut single and the lead single from their self-titled studio album in February 2005. The song peaked at no. 6 on the Scottish Singles Chart and no. 7 on the UK Singles Chart. It eventually peaked at no. 97 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

KELLY OSBOURNE - ONE WORD

Unlike the pop/punk sound Osbourne debuted with, "One Word" was a synthpop song that showed Osbourne embracing dance music. The single sounded very reminiscent of the 1980s Visage song "Fade to Grey", which caused some controversy over copyright issues. Although Osbourne had released music before this, this single was her most successful to date when it comes to charts. The song peaked at no. 9 on the UK Singles charts and reached no. 1 on 3 seperate US dance charts with a peak at no. 21 on the US Bubbling Under Hot 100.

THE AFTERS - BEAUTIFUL LOVE

"Beautiful Love" is the hit single from the debut album by Christian rock band The Afters, I Wish We All Could Win. The song was later used by MTV as the theme song to its reality show 8th and Ocean which helped the song to peak at no. 55 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

D4L - LAFFY TAFFY

"Laffy Taffy" was released in 2005 by Atlanta-based hip hop group D4L and reached no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January 2006. The song's success on the charts was largely due to its enormous online sales. The song's viral dance helped it to reach its peaked. The group went on to see minimal success with their other dance-along song "Betcha Can't Do It Like Me" in 2006.

TONY YAYO - SO SEDUCTIVE

"So Seductive" became Tony Yayo's most commercially successful song, peaking at no. 48 on the Billboard Hot 100; it also remains Tony Yayo's only song to chart outside the United States, peaking in the top 30 of the Irish and United Kingdom singles charts.

SAVING JANE - GIRL NEXT DOOR

"Girl Next Door" is a single released in late 2005 by American pop rock band Saving Jane. The song peaked at no. 31 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and reached no. 21 on Billboard Pop Songs.

ONTD Original: Others on Wade Robson and James Safechuck's relationships with Michael Jackson

$

Maureen Orth, a Vanity Fair writer who has done extensive reporting on the likes of Michael Jackson and Woody Allen, wrote a list of "Ten Undeniable Facts About the Michael Jackson Sexual-Abuse Allegations." Before her list of facts, she describes a conversation with Dennis Robson, Wade Robson's late father, back in 1993 after Jordan Chandler's allegations against Michael Jackson became public. There have been many employees, family members, journalists, and more who have spoken about Wade Robson and James Safechuck's, the subjects of "Leaving Neverland," relationships with Michael Jackson dating back decades before they publicly came forward as victims.
Wade Robson

Michael Jackson himself took credit for bringing Wade from Australia to America:
SB: “Oh, he wasn’t from ‘N Sync, Wade?”
MJ: ”No, he’s a choreographer for Britney Spears and ‘N Sync. See I taught Wade.”
SB: ”Really?”
MJ: ”Yeah, I taught Wade. All the stuff you see Britney Spears and ‘N Sync doing, that whole style came from me ’cause I taught Wade. Wade’s from Australia and I brought him to America.”
-"The Michael Jackson Tapes: A Tragic Icon Reveals His Soul in Intimate Conversation" by Rabbi Shmuley Boteach (x)

Dennis Robson, Wade Robson's late father, in conversation with Maureen Orth:

  • Maureen Orth's January 1994 article "Nightmare in Neverland" (x) talks about how there was an anguished father who called her in despair that he had ever allowed MJ to share a bed with his son. He said that he had no proof anything sexual happened, but he himself was molested by an uncle and kept the secret from his parents for 30 years. He and his wife were divorced and he lived so far away that he rarely ever saw his son. His wife told him that if he ever talked to the press he would never see his son again. A week later he called Maureen again, but this time was eager to give a positive quote about MJ after being in contact with his wife.

  • Maureen confirmed it was Dennis Robson who called her back in 1993 in her March 2019 article "Ten Undeniable Facts About the Michael Jackson Sexual-Abuse Allegations" (x): "Wade’s mother, Joy, wasn’t talking, but his father, Dennis, surprised me by returning my call from his home in Australia. Dennis explained that Joy had taken Wade and his sister to Los Angeles so Wade could be with Jackson, adding that he was afraid that he might lose his son if he said anything against the pop superstar. Dennis’s sorrow was compounded by his own dark secret: he himself had been molested as a child, he told me, and had been unable to bring himself to tell anyone for 30 years. Then, a week later, Dennis Robson called me back. He had just gotten through to his wife and now he wanted to change his story and give me a quote praising Jackson. I asked him what had prompted this sudden change of heart. He paused. It was all just a mixup, he said. Dennis, who had been diagnosed as bipolar shortly before his wife left, never got over losing his family, all because his son, then five, had won a local dance contest, and the first prize was a meeting with his idol, Michael Jackson."

Blanca Francia, Michael Jackson's maid from 1986 to 1991:

  • Blanca Francia in her 2005 testimony reported by LA Times (x) said that she once saw MJ and Wade Robson in the shower together and that Wade's neon-green Spider-Man underwear was on the floor near MJ's white briefs. She knew it was theirs because she did their laundry. She also saw MJ and Wade watching TV nude from the waist up in bed together partially under the covers on two other occasions.

Charlie Michaels, Michael Jackson's former security guard:

Mark Quindoy, one of Michael Jackson's employees:

Orietta Murdock, Michael Jackson's employee:

-Victor Gutierrez's 1997 book, "Michael Jackson Was My Lover" (x)

Jordan Chandler, the first person to publicly accuse Michael Jackson of sexual abuse:

  • According to Victor Gutierrez's 1997 book, "Michael Jackson Was My Lover," (x) Jordan Chandler said that Michael told him that there were other boys like Wade Robson that he masturbated to make Jordan feel that masturbation was okay becauase others did the same thing.

Joy Robson, Wade Robson's mother, in conversation with Victor Gutierrez in 1992:

-Victor Gutierrez's 1997 book, "Michael Jackson Was My Lover" (x)

Victor Gutierrez, author of "Michael Jackson Was My Lover" on Wade and Joy Robson:

James Safechuck

LaToya Jackson, Michael Jackson's sister, said at 4:18 that their mother showed her a check Michael wrote for Jimmy Safechuck and asked her "what do you think they're doing up there" because he's the little boy that comes over and sleeps in the same bed with Michael and gets locked up in the same room as him to prove Michael was "nothing but a damn f*ggot."

LaToya has also done other interviews back in 1993 talking about the allegations against her brother. She also mentions her mother showing her the check to a boy's father who was a garbage collector. James Safechuck's father was a garbage collector.

James Safechuck's father, James Safechuck Sr. (he passed away from illness not too long before interviews for Leaving Neverland started), defended Michael Jackson against Jordan Chandler's allegations back in 1994. He told the grand jury on April 12, 1994, that Michael was like a son to him and that he trusted Michael with both his and his son's life. He saw Michael kissing his son on the lips, but said he saw nothing wrong with it. He also told the jury that Michael used to come to the Safechuck's home "more times than he could count" and that Michael and Jimmy would wear pajamas with feet and run around the house. He said that he asked his son if there was any truth to Jordan Chandler's allegations when they came out, but his son told him "No, Dad" and that was all he needed to hear.

Sam Smyth, Irish journalist:

  • Sam Smyth on RTE Radio 1's "The Ray D'Arcy Show" in March 2019 (x) talked about how he and Eamon Dunphy wrote James Safechuck a note that said "Dear Little Jimmy Safechuck, we are in the residents' lounge... and if you are being held against your will or if you need rescuing contact us." They gave it to the hotel porter with a handsome tip to put it under James' door, but they never heard from him. They wrote him the note because they thought it was odd how MJ, a 30 year old man, was best friends with a 10 year old boy and thought it was strange that James had his own room at Jury's Hotel that had a "do not disturb" sign and sheeting on the windows to block out views.

A Bad Tour publicist:

  • A Bad Tour publicist told Billboard in March 2019 (x) that they always suspected MJ was a pedophile because he was always holding hands and spending all his time with James on the Bad Tour. The official story they gave the press was that James was on the tour because Pepsi was the sponsor and he was the kid from the Pepsi tour commercial. Someone told Michael that the press thought it looked strange, but he didn't listen and continued holding hands with James and taking him everywhere. The publicist couldn't believe that the parents allowed it when they were moved to the band/staff hotel instead of the MJ/management hotel where MJ and James stayed together.

Bob Jones, Michael Jackson's former publicist:

  • There was one kid, James Safechuck, with whom Michael managed to carry on a clandestine relationship for years. James and his parents traveled with us around the world throughout 1988 and 1989 on the “Bad” tour. Michael and James spent virtually all their time together. James slept in Michael’s room at night. In the afternoons, schedule permitting, in whatever exotic forgein city we were in, Michael would make chauffeur-driven cars available to James’ parents for shopping sprees, entertaiment, sight seeing and other diversions, clearing the way for hours alone together with James in the privacy of his hotel room. In Paris I told Michael, “The press is going to start questions about all these little white boys you keep around.” When I said that he grew irritated and replied, “Who cares what they think?” -Bob Jones in his 2009 book co-written with Stacy Brown, "Michael Jackson: The Man Behind the Mask: An Insider's Story of the King of Pop"

Philip Lemarque and Stella Marcroft, Michael Jackson's former chefs:

  • Philip Lemarque and Stella Marcroft on August 28, 1993 (x) told investigators that there was a boy named Jimmy Safechuck that used to come to the ranch all the time, but stopped when he got too old. He would call al the time, but Michael would tell them to say he wasn't there and then smile about it.

  • Philip Lemarque and Stella Marcroft in the 2005 documentary "Michael Jackson's Secret World" (x) said that they used to set up the table like Michael was going to be there for dinner, but they knew he wasn't coming because he thought James was too old now and just didn't tell James.

Jordan Chandler, the first person to publicly accuse Michael Jackson of sexual abuse:

  • "The 13-year-old told psychiatrist Dr.Richard Gardner that Jackson had confided that many boys had masturbated in front of him, including “a boy who went on the Bad tour with him” (x)

Stella Marcroft Lemarque, Michael Jackson's former chef, according to Victor Gutierrez's 1997 book, "Michael Jackson Was My Lover" (x)

  • When I was working for Michael, I saw him with Jimmy Safechuck," said Estella Lemarque. "The ranch manager. Norma Staikos, told me firmly: 'Estella, each time the Safechucks came you had to treat them so well that you almost kissed their asses. They are the only ones, the only ones that could change [that is, hurt] Michael.' Later on, the Safechucks told me they were going to press charges against Michael, but then changed their minds." Estella said that she was not supposed to speak about any of the relationships between Jackson and the boys. "But everyone at the ranch knew. We would all joke about it, including the guards. It's a big joke."

Trash people stick together, since Trump keeps getting mentioned in all these MJ stories... Orietta Murdock said MJ once canceled a meeting with Trump because he was "ill" even though he was really spending the night with Wade Robson. There's also Macaulay Culkin's story about how the first time he met MJ was when MJ went backstage with Trump to the Nutcracker play Macaulay was starring in. Also everything about Joy Robson is so upsetting... Maureen Orth's story about how Dennis Robson told her that Joy threatened him with never seeing his son again... Victor Gutierrez's story about Wade dancing on the street to get money for the family, Joy suspecting MJ abused young boys, and Joy using her talk with Victor to get Wade back into MJ's life to solve the family's financial situation... James Safechuck Sr. defending MJ kissing his son on the lips was also super upsetting...

ONTD Indie Release Guide Graphic.png

There are two major studio releases this week - Paramount's Pet Sematary remake, based on the creepy (and sad!) novel by Molly's human servant Stephen King:

and Shazam!, which as far as I know doesn't star any cute animals. If you're not thrilled by either of these offerings, read on for some indie options, including films from noted directors Claire Denis and Mike Leigh. And thank you for all of your support in last week's abbreviated post, I had a great trip!

The films listed are from studios other than the “Big Six” - Paramount, Warner Brothers, 20th Century Fox, Universal, Columbia and Disney. Note that some of the movies listed are in their first week or two of limited release in the USA, so it may take them a few more weeks (or months) to show up in your local arthouse theater or on VOD. Check out the posts from the past few weeks for more movies that may have just opened near you: March 29, March 22nd, and March 15th.

ONTD Original: Monthly Movie Challenge - April

Another 10-task challenge. You obviously don’t need to do all 10 tasks, choose as many as you want, but I figured it gives you some variety and allows you to pick and choose movies that fit your taste but also maybe lead you to watch something you wouldn’t normally seek out. For each task, you can pick whatever movie fits within the guidelines, I've added links to help you out. I tried to add tasks that would allow you to get movies on Netflix, Amazon Prime, and/or Hulu – but there’s also Kanopy and Hoopla (both of which you can get free access through your library or university). Have a different movie for each task – that is, don’t have the same movie for task 2 and task 6.

Tasks:
1. I’m foolishly trying to watch every movie ever nominated for Best Picture (554 movies total), so, watch any movie that is on THIS list.
2. April 15th is World Art Day, a day to celebrate the fine arts, watch any movie about an artist (Big Eyes, Frida, At Eternity’s Gate, etc.).
3. April 19th is National Garlic Day, vampires hate garlic or some shit, watch any movie about a vampire (Interview With a Vampire, Dracula, Nosferatu, etc.).
4. April 23rd is World Laboratory Day, watch any movie that takes place in a lab (basically any movie with some scenes in a lab) or a movie about a scientist (Frankenstein, Re-Animator, Venom, Spiderman, etc.).
5. Watch any movie with a title that is just one word (Babel, Watchmen, Doubt, Zodiac, etc.).
6. Watch any movie where the main actor/actress started out in a soap opera (or your countries version of a soap opera). (Julianne Moore, Tommy Lee Jones, Margot Robbie, Salma Hayek, Morgan Freeman, etc.)
7. Watch any movie that is featured in Box Office Mojo’s highest grossing films of all time.
8. Watch any movie in a language you wish you spoke.
9. Watch any movie whose title has an acronym in it (THIS should be helpful, but there's more options out there).
10. Use THIS random movie roulette and watch whatever movie you get (you can honestly just pick a random ass movie that interests you off this list, I don't care).

ONTD, what do you plan on watching this month? What did you watch during the month of March? This is late, sorry!

Some people just can't close one eye while leaving the other open.
It's fun to watch celebs be cute with their struggle winks.
Here are ten of 'em shown via gifs (none wider than 350px).

Adam Levine

** Got that eyebrow raise to assist.

Britney Spears

** She has been shown to serve a successful wink from time-to-time. Her casual, more natural, wink is pretty goofy though.

Ariana Grande

** Same situation as Britney Spears.

Henry Cavill

** Some arguable effort to be found here.

Idris Elba

** The "fuck it, I do me" wink. Prob never tried to wink 'properly' a day in his life.

Kim Kardashian

** Life tip: Google 'Kim Kardashian wink gif' on a rainy day.

Chris Pratt

** It's a wink, not a flinch, trust.

Selena Gomez

** A wink that doesn't quite hit the right note.

Seth MacFarlane

** Using more facial muscles than is necessary. Werk.

Rihanna

** Everything collapses, no survivors.

Alternatively, here are three celebs who can wink flawlessly:

Miley Cyrus

Christina Aguilera

Amber Heard

ONTD Original: The Women Behind Stephen King's Filmography, Part One

$

Stephen King and director Mary Lambert on the set of 'Pet Sematary' (1989).

When it comes to Stephen King's filmography, there may be plenty of monsters on screen, but the true horror is the absence of women behind it.

Of the forty-some (and counting) theatrically released adaptations of King's work, only two have been directed by women, and only two have been co-written by women.

No King movie has been solely written by a woman.

Seventeen theatrical adaptations of King's work are in pre-production on which writers and directors have been announced, and not a single woman is among them, despite many bearing female protagonists (Rose Madder and The Gingerbread Girl, among others).

As it's the 30th anniversary of the original Pet Sematary (and its remake hit theaters this weekend), it felt fitting to begin with Mary Lambert, not only the first female director to tackle King's work, but also the record-holder for the highest grossing horror film directed by a woman.

Madonna in 'Like a Prayer' (1989).

Lambert attended art school and began her career in film as a music video director.

Just a few of the artists she's worked with include Janet Jackson ('Nasty' and 'Control'), Sting ('We'll Be Together'), and Tom Tom Club ('As Above, So Below'), but perhaps her most famous collaboration is with Madonna - Lambert directed 'Borderline', 'Like a Virgin', 'Material Girl', 'La Isla Bonita', and faced a flood of controversy from the Catholic church over 1989's 'Like a Prayer', which Lambert brainstormed with Madonna.

Lambert, on the 'Like a Prayer' controversy:
"In the Catholic Church it has to go through the priest: You can't even pray directly to God, you have to go through the priest and the priest prays for you. It's all very patriarchal.... God talks to the priest, the priest talks to the man, and the man tells his wife what to do. The women are right at the very bottom, down there with animals in terms of any kind of freedom of speech or expression."

Denise Crosby as Rachel Creed in 'Pet Sematary'.
Crosby and Lambert collaborated earlier on Tom Tom Club's 'As Above, So Below' music video.

Lambert had to meet Stephen King to garner approval before the studio hired her as director. King also wrote the screenplay and made it conditional that filming take place in Maine. It remains of the few adaptations of his work to actually film there.

King was often on set and any changes or additions Lambert wanted to make went through King first.

Made on a budget of $11.5 million, Pet Sematary (1989) would open at number one and earn $57.5 million. It remains the sixth most successful theatrical Stephen King adaptation.

petsematary01.png

Brad Greenquist and Dale Midkiff in Pascow's first visitation scene, before and after reshoots.

The scene where Victor Pascow's ghost first visits Louis Creed had to be reshot. Why?

Because, as his character did in the novel, star Dale Midkiff appeared shirtless - and Paramount execs found it "too sexy".

(No word on their opinion of the countless instances of gratuitous female nudity in their other productions.)

Dale Midkiff and Denise Crosby as the Creeds.

Lambert fought to keep in the funeral scene, in which Rachel's father and Louis disrupt the service with a physical brawl that knocks over Gage's coffin. Execs found the scene too realistic and horrifying. Lambert persisted, and won.

(In the 2019 remake... the scene is absent.)

Fred Gwynne as Jud Crandall.

Lambert fought to cast Fred Gwynne as Jud Crandall, the Creeds' kindly yet ominous neighbor. Despite Gwynne's illustrious career both on stage and screen, Paramount execs had trouble disconnecting him from his infamous role of Herman Munster.

Miko Hughes (Gage) and Brad Greenquist (Pascow) out of makeup on the set of 'Pet Sematary'.

Lambert also fought the studio over the casting of Miko Hughes as arguably one of the film's most iconic roles - Gage Creed. Paramount wanted twins for the role in order to make filming more cost efficient. Lambert stood firm and Hughes was eventually cast. (Paramount would eventually get their way, as twins play the role in the 2019 remake.)

Joey Ramone in the 'Pet Sematary' music video.

The Ramones' infamous title song was not the result of the band approaching King as fans, as the rumor goes, but rather due to Lambert's close friendship with Dee Dee Ramone. Lambert suggested the band write a song for the film and Ramone immediately agreed.

Edward Furlong in 'Pet Sematary Two' (1992).

When the success of the first film became self-evident and a sequel was greenlit, Lambert wanted to center it around the sole surviving character, Ellie. Paramount said no, telling Lambert that a film centered around a preteen girl was unmarketable.

She would also direct the sequel, which has since become a cult classic in its own right. Who is it centered around? A preteen boy.

Lambert, on battling studios to make female-centered projects:
"My career is really littered with the projects I wanted to do that were about women. They all got thrown back at me because most of the time it was like, 'We can't do this with a female protagonist.'"

'Pet Sematary' was shot on location in Maine - one of the few King adaptations to do so.

Development executive Lindsay Doran championed Pet Sematary since its infancy. Doran loved the finished script and she advocated for its production after becoming vice president of production in 1985.

Doran's other development projects for Paramount include Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Pretty In Pink, Ghost, and Dead Again.

Denise Crosby's Rachel gets ready for her close-up.

Despite Pet Sematary staking claim as one of Paramount's most successful projects of the '80s, Lambert was still not given a wide berth regarding work after the money rolled in. She says that there are many horror movies she's tried to get made without success over the past thirty years.

Lambert, on male gatekeeping in the horror community:
"I had the great honor and joy to have made this movie that was successful and that everyone seems to like. I'm proud of it, but I've had to fight every step of the way to be trusted with other horror movies. The obvious answer is that men are protecting what is seen as their territory and they don’t want to give it up.

"If someone could tell me why more women aren't given a chance to direct a horror movie it would be a release for me, I might understand, but I don't."

ONTD Original: Late Night Shows and Geography

$

For years now late night shows have often featured segments about geography. Now the approach is sometimes different but the point always seems to be the same: some people often lack the knowledge or just don’t know where other countries are located on a map. Let’s explore a few examples while Adele guides us.

This compilation shows just how often host John Oliver repeatedly points out how clueless his studio audience is when it comes to finding their way around a globe.

In 2017, Jimmy Kimmel asked pedestrians on Hollywood Boulevard where North Korea was located on a map.

Jay Leno’s popular “Jaywalking” segments were clearly intended for laughs and often found people on the street with very little knowledge of geography.

Question to a high school student: “What is the largest country in South America?”

Answer: “Africa.”

Ok, let’s switch gears here for a second now. How about those who do know geography and know it damn well? Let’s meet Arden Hayes, who was 5-years-old then, and demonstrated his knowledge in world geography back in 2013 on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Adorable and bright.

Just last year, Jimmy Kimmel asked people on Hollywood Boulevard to name a country — any country — on a map. Of course it didn’t go well.

And finally, last year in August, Stephen Colbert mocked Donald Trump after it was reported that Trump had mispronounced the names of Nepal and Bhutan. Colbert noted how it was “important that the most powerful man in the world knows what countries are in that world.”

ONTD ORIGINAL: Pretty Wild - 10 Years Later

It's been 10 years since Pretty Wild graced our screens and provided us with iconic gifs. Aand with Alexis Neiers new podcast 'Recovering From Reality' - we are reintroduced to Andrea, Gabby, Tess and Alexis who discuss their time on the show and what was actually going on during it.

- The show was never meant to be about the Bling Ring. It was just about the girls living it up in LA. But when the cops banged down the door the first day of filming they completely changed the show to make it about the robberies. They even restaged the whole scene with fake cops etc so what was seen on the show wasn't the actual thing.

- Alexis stresses how much Andrea was not a good mother in the sense that she would involve her in all her problems (e.g. let a kid Alexis know all the money problems they were having, so it would stress Alexis out too) and how she was acting like a BFF rather than a mother, there were no boundaries etc. Notes that she's worried for the new generation of mothers who love social media and want to portray them and their daughters as best friends.

- Says her going to jail was the best thing that ever happened to her, despite the fact that the first day of rehab she was searching every floor for a way to escape and get high

- Her and Tess were completely wrecked on heroin during the filming of the show. Alexis says she started smoking oxy to block out sexual abuse from her past and it escalated, her and Tess would enable each other.

- The crew filming Pretty Wild would push the two to the absolute limit knowing how high they always were to create more and more drama. For example the iconic scene of Alexis speaking to Nancy Jo was filmed multiple times to get Alexis to a breaking point of screaming at everyone else.

- Speaking of Nancy Jo, the whole Vanity Fair article was completely conspired by the Pretty Wild film crew who told Alexis it was going to write her in a good light, when they knew the whole time it wasn't.

- They also arranged Paul Oakenfold to turn up at Gabby's party, telling Alexis that he hadn't been robbed in the Bling Ring so there shouldn't be any issues. (Alexis was only there during Paris's house robbery) and so when he turned up and yelled at her it was completely unexpected.

- The whole second half of Pretty Wild filming Tess and Alexis weren't even living at Andrea's anymore, they were in a small apartment constantly doing heroin, only showing up to film what the crew wanted them to film. Andrea tried coming to the apartment one day, Alexis opened the door with only a Subway sandwich on the bench and said to her mom "I like to bake, you cunt."

- It took her and Tess a long while to get on again because when Alexis was getting sober, Tess was still shooting up and Alexis just wanted her to get better. Says she didn't want them to become their mothers (Tess and Alexis's moms frequently smoked weed together around the kids until Tess's mom bailed and left her with Andrea).

This is most of the info I've gathered listening and watching a lot of Alexis's videos and insta posts. She's currently sober with two little girls and a husband, and is basically super against the toxic life of the LA crowd and how it ruined what should have been the fun times in her life.

- Gabby didn't have much to say, but she's married now. Andrea apologizes for not being a good mom. and treating Alexis like an adult when she was only a kid.

You can listen to Recovering from Reality on Spotify and iTunes. Also this post is dedicated to junhyosungs who asked me about this (and I was shocked that no one on ONTD had been keeping up with queen Alexis) which inspired me to make the post.

Ariana Grande: Wearing a Ponytail

Back in 2014, Ariana was facing criticism for having the same hairstyle all of the time. She's revealed on several occasions that wearing her hair up has helped her self-esteem because it hides most of the damage that was done for Victorious.
"For four years I had a character's hair, which was very uncomfortable, and I cried about it all the time. But, you know, I'll switch [my hair] up, eventually! I just have to wait for my hair to, you know, grow. I mean, it's like little pieces of hay right now."

Lea Michele: Controlling Her Acne

Lea opened up about her skin problems in her book, Brunette Ambition, and admitted to utilizing the Carrie Bradshaw trick; using black eyeliner to turn her pimples into beauty marks. She posts a lot about sponsored products, so it's hard to say which ones she faithfully uses, but one thing that has never changed is making sure she never, ever, never sleeps with makeup on.
"I've been on Accutane twice. In fact, you know those kids who become nearly suicidal about their acne? I've walked that fine line. It was impossible at times to look beyond my pimple-ridden skin or to imagine a time when I wouldn't have to spackle my face just to leave my bedroom."

Melissa McCarthy: Jumpsuits

Melissa created her own clothing line, Melissa McCarthy Seven7, saying she was making most of her own clothes anyway for red carpets and shows because of her size. Jumpsuits have always had her back in that regard.
"Women don't stop at size 12. I feel like there's a big thing missing where you can't dress to your mood above a certain number."

Megan Fox: Dressing for Men

Aside from the obvious cosmedic procedures (which she is not open about), Megan has spoken up about feeling a false sense of empowerment when she was a teenager when she would dress for the male-gaze.
"I was 12 when I first started getting attention from grown men, and for a while I misused that power. When you see 16-year-old girls in really short skirts and stripper heels and shirts that say "White Trash Whore" on them - I was like that. But it's not empowering. It's the opposite. It's taking power away from you."

Hilary Duff: Wearing Scarves

Hilary had a major eating disorder back in 2004-2006. She has opened up about hating her legs, her arms, and has admitted to always wearing scarves to hide her shoulders. Presently, though, she seems a lot more confident and okay in her own skin.
"I’m always wearing scarves to de-accentuate my shoulders."

ONTD Original: Lies Michael Jackson Told Us

$

"In the Leaving Neverland documentary, there's a brief exchange between Katie Couric and Johnnie Cochran, who was OJ Simpson's lawyer, about Vanity Fair saying something—it was about my article ['Nightmare in Neverland,' published in January 1994]. Johnnie Cochran didn't deny what was in the article, he just said, 'I don't believe anything I read in Vanity Fair, do you?' There's a non-denial denial."—Maureen Orth, in conversation with The Ringer, March 2019

For 11 years, National Magazine Award-winning journalist Maureen Orth tirelessly researched and reported on the downward spiral of Michael Jackson for Vanity Fair. Beginning with 1994's "Nightmare in Neverland," not one of Orth's five painstakingly fact-checked pieces were ever challenged by Jackson, despite being rife with information that directly opposed his own narrative as he fielded multiple allegations of child sexual-abuse.

That Orth's stories went to press unscathed is undoubtedly a testament to the veracity of her reporting. However, it is dually illustrative of her subject's confidence in his ability to dominate the very mass media he so often decried. With the help of a "huge public-relations train," Jackson used his shrewd business acumen and wealth to bend the truth to his benefit and ensure his voice was the loudest.

Arguably his most masterful manipulation of the press came in the form of an interview with PrimeTime Live's Diane Sawyer on June 14, 1995. Seated alongside then-wife Lisa Marie Presley, Jackson was given carte blanche by Sawyer and ABC News to make the grandest of declarations—that he had been "cleared" of all charges made against him two years earlier—erroneously and unchallenged.

Below, five more lies that Michael Jackson told the public on that night in 1995.

Lie #1
DIANE SAWYER: Did you ever—as [Jordan Chandler] says you did—did you ever sexually engage, fondle, have sexual contact with this child, or any other child?
MICHAEL JACKSON: Never, ever. I could never harm a child or anyone. It's not in my heart, it's not who I am, and it's not what I'm—I'm not even interested in that.
DS: How about the police photographs, though? How was there enough information from this boy about those kinds of things?
MJ: The police photographs? That they took of me? There was nothing that matched me to those charges—nothing! That's why I'm sitting here talking to you today. Every—there was not one iota of information that was found that could connect me to these charges.
DS: So when we've heard that there was a marking of some kind...
MJ: No markings.

The Truth
"[Those familiar with the evidence] say there are definite markings on Jackson's genital area, including a discoloration on his testicles... According to the sworn affidavit of a law-enforcement photographer, there is a dark spot on the lower left side of Jackson's penis.

"[Chandler], according to those familiar with the evidence, was able to draw—first for the district attorney, then for his own lawyers—an accurate picture of the dark spot on Jackson's penis. The boy's drawings were sealed in an envelope and clearly postmarked on a postal meter before the police ever photographed Jackson. According to these sources, the boy's drawings were an accurate match of the photographs."—Maureen Orth, "The Jackson Jive" (September 1995)

Lie #2
DS: Why did you settle the case, then? Why did you settle the case—and it looks to everyone as if you paid a huge amount of money to get silence.
MJ: Most of that's folklore. I talked to my lawyers, and I said, "Can you guaruntee me that justice will prevail? And they said, "Michael, we cannot guaruntee you that a judge or a jury will do anything." And with that, I was catatonic, I was outraged—totally outraged! So I said, "I have got to do something to get out from under this nightmare." [...] We got together again with my advisors, and they advised me—it was handsdown, a unanimous decision, resolve the case.
DS: How much money was it? Can you say how much?
MJ: It's not what the tabloids have printed, it's not all this crazy, outlandish money. No, not at all. I mean, the terms of the agreement are very confidential.

The Truth
"Jackson paid $25 million to settle the Chandlers' lawsuit, with $18 million going to [Jordan], $2.5 million to each of the parents, and the rest to lawyers."—Maureen Orth, "10 Undeniable Facts About the Michael Jackson Sexual-Abuse Allegations" (March 2019)

"The money, paid in one lump sum, was handed over without Michael Jackson's ever being put under oath for a civil deposition, which could be used in a criminal trial. People close to the investigation say that Jackson's lawyers kept putting off any depositions, and agreed to settle the night before Jackson was to have been put under oath."—"The Jackson Jive"

Lie #3
MJ: It just isn't fair, what they put me through, 'cause there wasn't one piece of information that says I did that... they turned my room upside down, went through all my books, all my video tapes, all my private things and they found nothing. Nothing, nothing that can say, "Michael Jackson did this." Nothing!

The Truth
"Investigation sources say police found a lewd, commercially published hardcover book of black-and-white photos of nude boys aged 7 to 12 'at play,' and according to one, that book 'is often found in the home of pedophiles.' There was also a picture of a nude little boy, scantily draped with a sheet, found in Jackson's bedroom."—"The Jackson Jive"

"Jackson had an extensive collection of adult erotic material he kept in a suitcase next to his bed, including S&M bondage photos... Forensic experts with experience in the Secret Service found the fingerprints of boys alongside Jackson's on the same pages. Jackson also had bondage sculptures of women with ball gags in their mouths on his desk, in full view of the boys who slept there."—"10 Undeniable Facts About the Michael Jackson Sexual-Abuse Allegations"

Lie #4
DS: Any other settlements, in process now or previously, with children making these kinds of claims? We have heard that there is one, not a case that the prosecutors would bring in court but, once again, you're talking about shelling out—
MJ: No, that's not true... I think—I heard everything is fine and there are no others.

The Truth
"Law-enforcement sources, however, confirm[ed] that there [was] another boy who [had] a lawyer and [was] currently negotiating a settlement with Jackson. Of the boys mentioned in the district attorneys' press release who accused Jackson of sexual misconduct and are unwilling to testify... 'The status regarding these two [was] basically the same.'"—"The Jackson Jive"

Lie #5
DS: In ["They Don't Care About Us"] you say, "Jew me, sue me," and some people are saying that that is antisemitic.
MJ: It's not antisemitic, because I'm not a racist person. I could never be a racist, I love all races of people, from Arabs, to Jewish people, like I said before, to blacks. My accountant and lawyers are Jewish. My three best friends are Jewish. David Geffen, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Steven Spielberg, Mike Milkin—these are friends of mine. They're all Jewish! How does that make sense? I was raised in a Jewish community.

The Truth
"[The Jews are] like leeches. I'm so tired of it. They start out the most popular person in the world, make a lot of money. Big house, cars and everything—end up penniless. It is conspiracy. The Jews do it on purpose."—Michael Jackson, in conversation with Dieter Wiesner (2003)

"According to [an affidavit given by Sergeant Deborah Linden, then a deputy sheriff for Santa Barbara County], 'Jackson told [Blanca] Francia that he bleaches his skin because he does not like being black and he feels that blacks are not liked as much as people of other races.' Others told me that Jackson had special names for blacks, including 'spabooks.'"—Maureen Orth, "Losing His Grip" (April 2003)
