Untitled

if the gur is a legend, true iconic status, she has had to have a bad era, there's no two ways about it, you have let ya fans & the good gp sisses down & then redeem yaself, all the greats have to, make sure u know the difference tho; a good era is a pop gorl in ha prime, like nobody can touch the bitch, like she has the other pop gurs shook tbh / a bad era has to have the gp givin up on ha but ha true fans are like, bitch i know ha potential & a comeback era is when the two demographics come together in unison

anyway lets get into ha

tumblr_inline_mvo79iLi6e1rirsqc

Britney
Best Era: Britney
britney was britney at ha best, like bitch if you were a blonde pop gur at the time, u can go have a seat u can go get that sprite & white cheddar cheez its from the vending machin gur, u at the vmas in your borrowed gown watchin primeney up there like ur actually shook and scared shakin and cryin bitch, like if u were a blonde pop girl at the vmas when britney performed im a slave for u lmao bitch u went straight from the vmas to the studio gur like ur manager was pissed gurl, like yall in the limo back to the sheraton gurl, nobodys saying nothing in the car gurl

Worst Era: Britney Jean
this is britney at ha laziest and myah marie at ha prime, i mean look britney lowkey cant make a horrible song if she tried (til its gone, bodyache) but this album was trash gur, full of selena gomez demos

Comeback:sonically, it was britney at one of ha peaks, ha true fans and the gays recognize the sonic masterpiece that blackoutis, and to a specific demo ha personal era at that time is fucked up but also legendary iconic gur, to the gp she looked like she done lost ha shit, singin about slurpin some guy up in the club while people watchin, the bat, the car, the clippers, the shaving, lindsay and paris and ha in the fuckin car bitch, that grey iconic gym suit, like i c o n i c, its fucked up but like, if she didnt have ha blackout era she wouldve never been seen as relatable to ha casual fans or the fans that remember ha from 1999, blackout linked the pop princess with momney regularlarney and she will always have success and a solid fanbase gurs, get it

Alicia Keys
Best Era: Songs In A Minor
ok alicia was givin u like stevie wonder & lauryn hill, she was serving the gurls -- protege with an ingenue twist gurl, she was giving u bisexual, "fallin" is iconic, at high school talent shows when the popular gurls finish shakin they ass and titties to whatever slut bop is out at the time, yall gonna have to sit thru the white girl with a black boyfriend whos mom has the kate plus 8 haircut & just cant leave a dept store without seeing a manager, sing alicia keys "fallin", its just that type of song, she had them other hits but she slayt this era

Worst Era: Girl On Fire
gurl, its been like 11 yrs since destinys child stopped doing these women empowerment anthems but u can count on ascreecha to come, shes kinda the black p!nk, after p!nk was the black p!nk, but before alicia was the white & black alicia and mariah was ???? but now mariah is the black mariah, anyway, enough sis, always coming thru with a tinkling of the piano, a steel drum moment and a blood curdling howl, but irrelevant because her new song "in common" is a bop so this might be her comeback its the best single shes released since "no one"

Comeback: we'll see

Lady Gaga
Best Era: The Fame Monster
much like how britney had the gurls shook and shit when slave 4 u came out, gaga had the gurls & the gorls & the guys shook when tfm came out, she was giving u LEGEND, like she was giving the gurls haileys comet once in a life time superstar moment, she was serving look after look after look after look after look with a twist of bop after bop, and tbh this came all after ha 2nd best era the fame, gaga gurl, the gp may hate u but gurl u gave us enough looks & hooks to last a liftetime and tbh the gurls are still kinda scared
lets checkoff who was directly scared when the bop monster came out
Beyonce? Yes (sweet dreams video like, bey, gurl, lmao, gaga gave ha goosebumps, so much that she recruited ha for videophone/telephone)
Rihanna? Yes (Disturbia)
Britney? Unphased
Ke$ha? She was already serving up mess
Katy? Yes (lmao katy was SHOOK gurl, (ET) bitch lmao, that boring ass video but bop of a song, katy, u so artsy gurl))
Alicia? Yes
Madonna? Yes gurl, oo Madonna like bitch rest on the empire u built gurl
anyway the gurls were shook

Worst Era: ARTPOP
gaga .. now u know
i mean look like i said every big star needs a fading moment and this certainly was hers if not for anything else, for Jewels N Drugs lmao, gurl. and the videos were trash, and the performances were trash, i mean because she is ha the songs were subpar for ha but amazing in general (mary jane holland, fashion!, artpop, sexxx dreams)

Comeback: TBA (yall know shes coming)

Beyonce
Best Era: BEYONCE
ok sonically her best era was bday & chartwise her best era was DIL BUT self titled was both of them put together, like this was beyonce at BEYONCE like THIS was BEYONCE gurlfriend, like where were u Dec 13th? thats starpower gurls, thats a moment, thats legendary and tbh Drunk In Love is one of ha best choruses, 2nd best pop chorus that year

Worst Era: Sasha Fierce
oo gorl, let me count the ways, i mean yes, it gave us single ladies (and all yall know that that song only clicked when u saw the video) but it also gave us, if i were a boy lmao, and all them other clunky ass ballads, bitch lmao, the album kinda sucks but she did give us sweet dreams, bop alert

Comeback: N/A

Katy Perry
Best Era: One Of The Boys
katy was giving like new girl, girl next door, one of the boys kinda gurls, but also giving hits, but also like effortless hits, she was giving u like ok these are hits but like it comes natural to a bit, she was giving u early madonna controversy with IKAG she was giving u top 10 hit with H&C, like you know very breezy, amazing, like dating travis scott, she was THAT girl, do u get it? not superstar, but just like, THAT bitch, in certain circles

Worst Era: Pringle
prism is to teenage dream what teenage dream is to OOTB, there's no difference really, sonically, the three albums just chronicle how she was THAT bitch in a certain circle, then how she became THAT bitch in general, prism is basically like im stillthat bitch but everyones like, bitch we know, now show us something different gurl, but she didnt, she did echo the famous words about the album something like "its about to get real dark" bitch where? "so let me take out the big balloons", "eye of the tiger", "u take me to utopia", "international smile" bitch whereeeee? but she did slay legendary lovers, walking on air, this is how we do and dark horse

Comeback: Teenage Dream

i guess its a comeback maybe because u werent expecting it, like i said before these 3 albums are a trifecta, TD is OOTB on steroids, like ok i dont think gaga was shook, defly noneof the other gorls but gaga was probably like ugh bitch wheres the fly swatter like gorl get out of my way, it was just hits, not that it couldve been anyone singing it, but this album is very like .. mall, its like, ok, if im with my gorls at the mall in 2009 or whenever this came out and were eating fries at the food court & et comes on, my pussy might be poppin enough for me to walk over to sam goody and ask a bitch whats the song playin & buy the album, queen

Rihanna
Best Era: Loud
this was rihannas superstar, international superstar moment, this was ha not giving u like, real .. tastemaker looks, but giving u superstar like kinda tacky looks as only a superstar can, she was giving u ronald mcdonaldanna which was iconic, she gave u HOOKS bitch she gave u bell hooks gurl, she was giving u superstar hits, shes giving u FIFA hits shes giving u stadium hits shes giving u like crowd chanting hits shes giving u like, ok bitch WFL, like do yall know were gonna be hearing that song for the rest of our lives and its a song that youll always remember that time in ur life when it came out, that fuckboy u was with, just leavin college/hs, yes gorls, she did that, she gave u rihanna superstar moment

Worst Era: A Girl Like Me
by default

Comeback: Good Girl Gone Bad

GGGB was almost her best era but rihanna wasnt rihanna with gggb she was still beyshantiamerie, BUT, at the end of the era she shed that, anyway its a comeback because honestly if rihanna served us another schlocky r&b lite album she wouldve been done tbh, so this was ha coming out party like, bitch, ya though

**also why is work still a bop? wtf

Carly Rae Jepsen
Best Era: Kiss
kiss is the best pure pop album of this decade, hands down, there would be no emotion without kiss, put some respek on kiss' name tbh, anyway i mean wwhat can i say that i havent already? pure pop hits, big superstar celine vocals, beyonce dance moves, stadium tour, legions of fans, superstar moments, gowns, ok great gowns, beautiful gowns, it was ha coming out party, she gave us hits, call me maybe, turn me up, good time i mean gurl

Worst Era: That First Album
gurl i dont even know but im not checkin for it solely for the album cover gurl giving me like 2003 silent hill sis

Comeback: Emotion

bitch, did she do that? i mean did she do that? hit after hit after hit after hit after hit, this is the album thats gonna carry ha, the gorls thought ha peak was slay me maybe but she came out swingin gurl, she had tom hanks in the video for i really like you, she served diversity with the boy problems video, she gave u storyline for your type, she gave u HIT with i didnt just come here to dance which also gives me will n grace season 3 soundtrack, shes serving critics darlingt, so for the next album trust the critics and the gays are not gonna let ha flop shes coming

ONTD original: Best moments from the 2016 Cannes Film Festival

Fuck you, Liv!

A press screening for The Neon Demon was met with intense boos from critics whose anger was so great that when the dedication To Liv appeared (Liv Corfixen, actress and director is Neon Demon director's wife) someone apparently screamed Fuck you, Liv and the rest of the press joined in on booing her too.

Susan Sarandon states the obvious and says Woody Allen sexually assaulted a child

It's sad that this was even a "moment" but given that Woody Allen had the opening film of the festival, has a long relationship with Cannes that includes getting an Honorary Palme d'Or for his body of work, was able to exerct enough influence to get reporters banned from his luncheon for daring to work for a magazine that brought up his history of sexual assault, and is still being defended by his actors (Blake Lively said he "Empowered women")  it was great to see a celebrity openly condemn him.

Julia Roberts goes barefoot on the Red Carpet

The gala screenings at the Cannes film festival has always had a black tie dress code which means suits for the men and gowns for the ladies. Of course female critics and producers have a little more slack on this front, that is until women at the 2015 Cannes film festival were turned away from screenings for wearing flats.

There was a pretty big brouhaha about it causing festival president Thierry Frémaux to state there is no official shoe policy for women and blaming the snafu on some over zealous secuirty guards.

So it was a pretty big moment when this year Julia Roberts showed up to the premier of Money Monster dressed to the nines and shoeless. Was she doing it as a "Fuck you" to Cannes? Or was she doing it because she's fucking Julia Roberts?

Sean Penn's movie tanks so badly with critics it breaks records

Put a bunch of dehydrated, exhausted journalists watching 4 to 5 movies a day and working on tight deadlines and little sleep together and you'll begin to understand why when critics hate a movie at Cannes they really hate it. Early word for Penn's latest film The Last Face was negative and there was plenty of booing to be had. Even so it wasn't till the first critical reviews came in that the movie went from just bad to record-breaking bad.

Screen Daily critics gave it their lowest ever score:

They weren't the only ones either. In pollafterpoll Penn's epic flop The Last Face showed up dead last.

Xavier Dolan hits out at critics for liking Creed more than his movie

Canadian wunderkind Dolan has had a pretty amazing career. Every single movie he's directed has premiered at a major festival and he's pretty much considered a Cannes darling at this point. Expectations were high with his latest film that starred top-tier French actors like Marion Cotillard, Léa Seydoux and Vincent Cassel. But when the movie premiered and didn't deliver the critics lashed out and it wasn't long before Dolan hit back, randomly calling out Creed in the process.

Later Dolan went to the LA times where the reporter had to pat him on the back (literally) and tell him things were going to be okay.

Dolan got the last laugh though. After suggesting he might take a sabbatical from directing he ended up winning the Grand Prix AKA the second biggest prize of the festival.

Kristen Stewart shows up on the red carpet with her new (old) girlfriend

Stewart spent the weeks leading up to the Cannes Film Festival sucking face (and fingers) with French singer/actress Soko. So it was a big shock when she abruptly dumped Soko right before the festival and hooked up with former gal pal Alicia Cargile. She even brought Cargile to the premiere of American Honey where they walked the red carpet together. Soko was also at the festival where two of her movies premiered and had to walk the red carpet solo. Unfortunately for us there were no awkward run-ins between the exes, at least not in public.

Nicolas Winding Refn reveals that Lars von Trier tried to have sex with his wife, implies she's a slut

Poor Liv! At a press conference for The Neon Demon when a journalist asked if there was any sense of fraternalism between Refn and his countryman and fellow Cannes regular director Lars von Tier, Refn offered a weird annecdote about the last time he had seen Trier he was trying to fuck his wife. According to Refn after Liv told him to "Fuck off" he found "some other slut". English isn't Refn's first language so maybe he missed the fact that his word choice inadvertantly called his wife a slut too.

Watch things get awkward here:

Golshifteh Farahani gets stranded at the top of the stairs

Between the heels and the gowns women often need a hand or two to get up and down the stairs leading to the festival auditorium. But after a screening of festival breakout Paterson Iranian-French actress Golshifteh Farahani got stranded at the top of the stairs when her co-star Adam Driver and director Jim Jarmusch forgot about her and sauntered away. After making it down one step Farahani gave up and called out "Someone needs to take me!" Both men quickly returned to help her.

Donald Sutherland dons a hijab

Okay not really. But at the Jury press conference when the jurors were asked WTF they were thinking after they awarded some of the most hated movies of the fest actor Donald Sutherland inexplicably whipped out a pashmina and draped it over his head. It's impossible not to notice the similarities with fellow juror Katayoon Shahabi who actually was trying to veil her hair.

Kukeri Creature

Ah, simpler times. After the press screening of Toni Erdmann was met with raves that hinted that we might finally get our first female director Palme d'or winner in 23 years (spoiler: we didn't) people were charmed when a Kukeri walked the red carpet. According to wiki kukeri's are a Bulgerian tradition but one also features prominently in the movie. Both director Maren Ade and star Sandra Hüller cozied up to creature which later stole the show as it strutted it's stuff on the red carpet. Hats off to the person inside navigating the cumbersome costume!

ONTD Original: R&B One Album Wonders of the 1990s and 2000s

Many weeks ago I made this post: ONTD Original: R&B One Hit Wonders of the 1990s and 2000s and in the comments ONTD member eastaccidental came up with idea for someone to do a post about artists who were one album wonders and since I did the one hit wonder I decided why not do it.

Now onto the topic, this ONTD/kobewife1 Original will be about artists that had one great/good first album then could never duplicate or duplicate at least a fraction of the success of their previous album.

The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill (1998) – Lauryn Hill
image host

This hurts me so much to put her on the list but she's definitely a One Album Wonder. Before releasing her debut album, the New Jersey born Lauryn Hill was part of the hip-hop group The Fugees which included members Wyclef Jean and Pras. The group released two albums including the Platinum and Grammy winning album The Score (1996) that had the hit songs as Fu-Gee-La, Ready or Not and the smash Killing Me Softly. The group decided to split in 1997.

Lauryn decided after becoming pregnant and 'other circumstances in her life inspired her to record a solo album', thus we have this iconic album. TMoLH was released in August 1998 where it hit #1 on Billboard 200 with over 420,000 copies sold. It would go onto sell 'one million copies in less than a month and 2.4 million copies by December' and over eight million in the US alone (and globally over 19 million) since 2013 . There were three singles released off of the album the smash lead single 'Doo Wop (That Thing)', followed by Ex-Factor and Everything is Everything. At the 41st Grammy awards, TmoLH was nominated for 10 Grammys, winning five including Best New Artist and Album of the Year (making it the first hip-hop album to win that award).

Soon after the success of the acclaim album, Lauryn dropped out of the public eye because of the discontent with the music business and 'the pressure of fame'. Her second and last album, MTV Unplugged No. 2.0 (2002), where it had mixed reviews and sold less than any other The Fugees albums and her last album.

Other non-single tracks to check out from The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill: To Zion, 'Nothing Even Matters', Final Hour and Lost Ones

...If I Ever Fall In Love (1992) – Shai
image host
ONTD member lefteyepni suggested this group in that same post the suggestion came for this topic

The Washington D.C. group came out with the lead single .'..If I Ever Fall In Love' off of their debut album with the same name where it went #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on R&B Singles charts. Then they followed with Comforter and 'Baby I'm Yours' which both went to #10 on the Billboard Hot 100. Along with the hit singles, their album went 3x Platinum and peaked at #6 on the Billboard 200.

Their follow up album Blackface (1995) was successful (since it went Platinum) but the album had no hit singles with the modest hit This Place Where you Belong that was also on the Beverly Hills Cop 3 soundtrack (thanks again tolefteyepni for this info), the group would go on to release 3 more albums that basically went nowhere.

Other non-single tracks to check out from ...If I Ever Fall In Love: Together Forever and Yours

The Truth (1993) – Aaron Hall
image host

After being in the New Jack Swing/R&B group Guy, the New York based Aaron Hall came out with the hit 'Don't Be Afraid' (which was also on The Juice (1992) soundtrack) where it hit #1 on R&B Singles charts. He followed with other hit songs such as his biggest hit, 'I Miss You' where it went to #14 on the Hot 100 and #2 on R&B Singles charts.

The follow up album to his debut album Inside You (1998) didn't even chart and only one single (All The Places (I Will Kiss You)) came from it and was a modest hit.

Other non-single tracks to check out from The Truth: When You Need Me, Let's Make Love and Get a Little Freaky With Me

From the Bottom Up (1995) – Brownstone
image host

Releasing their debut album, the L.A. based group came out with the hit single 'If You Love Me' where it peaked at #8 on Hot 100 and U.K charts, also at #8 on R&B Singles charts. It even topped the New Zealand charts for five weeks. Then they followed with 'Grapevyne', where it went #1 on the Billboard Hot R&B Airplay and #6 on the R&B Singles chart. The album went certified Platinum and peaked at #4 on the R&B album charts.

They followed up with Still Climbing (1997) which was less successful and a produced the modest hit 5 Miles to Empty

Other non-single tracks to check out from From the Bottom Up: I Can't Tell You Why (The Eagles' classic) & Pass the Lovin

Emotional (2000) – Carl Thomas
image host

Before releasing his debut album you'll probably remember the Chicago-area Carl Thomas was featured artist on the Puff Daddy & Mase single 'Been Around the World (remix). So in 2000 Carl released his debut album on the Bad Boys label with the single 'I Wish' becoming a smash. It went #1 on R&B Singles chart and stayed there six straight weeks. He followed with Summer Rain and 'Emotional' which both hits on the R&B Singles chart and where it helped the album become certified Platinum. He also had the R&B classic 'Can't Believe' together with Faith Evans off of the P. Diddy and the Bad Boy Family album.

Let's Talk About It (2004) was his follow up album but it didn't chart as well as other 2 albums he released.

Other non-single tracks to check out from Emotional: Special Lady& My Valentine

Honorable Mentions: The Duchess (2006) – Fergie, Floetic (2002) – Floetry, Candy Rain (1995) – Soul For Real, Blaque (1999) – Blaque, Lucy Pearl (2000) – Lucy Pearl, City High (2001) – City High, Back of My Lac' (2007) – J. Holiday & Az Yet (1996) – Az Yet

ONTD Original: Tv characters that weren't supposed to stick around

$
0
0

Just about every tv show has those characters that were supposed to be one-offs or only last a couple of episodes as reoccurring characters. Here is a look at some characters that managed to make it from part-time to full-time and how they changed their respective shows.

Felicity Smoak
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Played By: Emily Bett Rickards
-Felicity was supposed to just be an IT girl that helped Oliver/The Hood on 1 or 2 missions. Emily Bett Rickards impressed the studio and audience so much that they kept her around the entire season and promoted her to full time at the beginning of their 2nd season.

-Bringing in Felicity full time changed the series for the better or the worse depending on who you ask. She went from a part time character to a character that rivaled the main character not only in screen time but also in popularity and would end up to take over the main role of love interest.

Spike 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer'
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Played By: James Marsters
-Spike aka William the Bloody appeared in BTVS Season 2 as the big bad who wanted to kill The Slayer. Spike was supposed to meet his demise in the middle of the season in order to allow his girlfriend, Drusilla take up the mantle of big bad alongside Angelus. Due to James Marsters badass portrayal of the character and reception with the audience, Spike survived the season and became a regular in Season 4.

-Spike would go from big bad to full time Scooby member and would eventually become Buffys new love interest for the shows last 2 seasons. Not even death could keep the character away as he jumped ship after BTVS ended and became a series regular on the sister show, Angel for its final season.

Santana Lopez & Brittany S. Pierce 'Glee'
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Played By: Naya Rivera and Heather Morris
- Santana Lopez and Brittany S. Pierce (also known as Brittana) started out as simple lackeys and backup dancers to Quinn Fabray. Half way through the first season they became fan favorites breaking out from under Quinn's shadow. By season 2 both were promoted to series regulars.

-Due to their popularity both as individuals and together, they would go on to get several solo/team up performances along with becoming a power couple on the show, culminating in their wedding during the shows final season.

Blaine Warbler 'Glee'
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Played By: Darren Criss
- Blaine Anderson was introduced in Glee's 2nd season as a mentor and possible love interest to Kurt Hummel. He was quickly promoted to a series regular at the beginning of the shows 3rd season.

-Blaine was a stand out character to teenage girls around the world very quickly with his rendition of Katy Perrys 'Teenage Dream', a song that would go on to be one of the shows best selling singles. He quickly overshadowed the shows original muse, Kurt Hummel. The two would go on to become the shows most popular couple.

Sophia Petrillo 'Golden Girls'
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Played By: Estelle Getty
-Sophia went from a guest character in the pilot of Golden Girls to a series regular by the second episode.

-Sophia was the wise cracking mother that was never afraid to call it like she saw it which helped make her a popular character. She would go on to out last all the shows characters by appearing in various spin offs such as The Golden Palace and Empty Nest.

Harmony Kendall 'Angel'

Played By: Mercedes McNab
-Harmony is a character that truly stood the test of time. She started out on Buffy The Vampire Slayer as a reoccurring character throughout the shows 7 seasons before becoming a series regular on the spin off, Angel, in it's 5th and final season.

-Harmony went from being Cordelia Chase's lackey to Spikes girlfriend to Angels assistant. She was a dumb blonde both in her human life as well as her vampire life but was always happy go lucky which endeared her to the audience. She didn't make any big splashes though.

Angel "BTVS/Angel'
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Played By: David Boreanaz
- Buffys steamy vampire beau, Angel was not originally meant to last past S1 but his chemistry with SMG and general charisma made the crew/fans fall in love with him. He was officially upped to a regular in S2.

-Angel would go on to be such a popular character that he went on to get his own successful spin off that lasted for 5 seasons. He went from playing love interest to Buffy to playing the main big bad in season 2 to breaking Buffys heart in S3.

1st major legit newspaper openly pro-Amber + some *alleged* dirt on Depp

$

*** the following is a rough translation & brief summary of the articlepublished by Libération, a French newspaper ***

"5 supposedly legitimate arguments used to weigh down Amber Heard"
"a brief list of the arguments used by the press to relativise her testimony and discredit her word"

"the relative lack of concrete information (excluding the restraining order emitted by the court + the LAPD report) didn't prevent the media from suspecting Amber of having lied, being crazy or wanting to manipulate her husband. here is an anthology of the most grotesque arguments."

#1"Amber Heard is hysterical"
they point out the sexist etymology of the word + the fact that mood fluctuations can be due to post-traumatic stress disorder

#2"Johnny Depp wasn't violent toward his exes, so..."
i paraphrase: "all this is very nice and pretty, but it doesn't mean he couldn't have been violent in subsequent relationships"

#3"Amber Heard (also) loves women"
they point out how the media has been sexist and biphobic while reporting the case

#4"Johnny Depp is the one who has the most to lose in this story"
they mention the Steubenville Ohio rape case & how the media was similarly worried about how the story would potentially ruin the future of the rapists, rather than the victim's

#5"Amber Heard is a liar (doggily speaking)"
they mention how the media also tried to taint the credibility of Diallo during the DSK affair by bringing up that she'd lied to US immigration services, and how the same is being done to Amber over the Australia dogs issue

source

---

*** due to popular demand well, like 2 or 3 people... here is the comment on Depp's legal past & allegedly sketchy character in post format ***

he DOES have a history of violence, he's been arrested at least 3x for it:

- arrested for assaulting a security guard in Canada in 89
- arrested on charges of criminal mischief in 94 for trashing a NYC hotel room during a violent fight with Kate Moss
- arrested for assaulting a paparazzi in London in 98
- both Kate & Winona have mentioned his violent behavior & penchant for breaking stuff during fights

source(tumblr post which the person updates daily with new info) + photos of his numerous arrests

i'd also like to add 2 more things re: his character, which i'm aware are quite subjective & come from a biased perspective of someone who loves River and has always hated Depp for his rumored apathy / inaction the night he died :

- as everyone knows, he was the owner of the Viper Room, a club known not only for its rampant drug use but also for the scandalously in the open drug trafficking / trade, which Depp was *allegedly* very much privy to & arguably participated in

- he was sued for fraud by his former business partner & Viper Room co-owner Anthony Fox back in 2001, but this is where the story gets interesting: Fox was about to win the case when he suddenly disappeared without a trace. the case is still an open, unsolved missing persons. now, the theory about Depp's possible involvement is borderline conspirationist, but a lot of things about it are indeed extremely sketchy - Depp left the US at the same time (moved to France & married Paradis) & ended up giving his share of the club to Fox's daughter in 2004.

ONTD Original: 2001, The year of one hit wonders

$

Just 15 years ago, artists like Willa Ford, Crazy Town, and Blu Cantrell were topping the charts. Many of the artists who created their major 2001 hits were never able to replicate the success. However, their songs remain boppable and always bring back the nostalgia. Let's take a look at some of the best one hit wonders of 2001!

Debelah Morgan - Dance With Me

This tango inspired BOP! If you don't know this song, you have no business in this post. The upbeat track was made for the dance floor, and even Mariah would be jealous of those whistle tones Morgan hits at the end.

Willa Ford - I Wanna Be Bad

In the hopes of following the footsteps of Britney and Xtina, Willa Ford put out her Top 40-ready pop/dance track “I Wanna Be Bad.” The plan worked, as the rule-breaking anthem was ubiquitous in 2001, from ad campaigns to movie soundtracks - but that's about as far as it went for ha.

3LW - No More (Baby Im'a Do Right)

While girl group 3LW did manage to release two successful albums, only one of their singles ever broke Billboard’s Top 40. The trio’s debut single “No More (Baby I’ma Do Right)” is 3LW’s one true hit, peaking in early 2001. "Playa pleathe" remains an iconic line.

Sunshine Anderson - Heard It All Before

Sunshine Anderson gave 2001 its most soulful R&B gold anthem with “Heard It All Before,” a seething R&B track about a woman kicking her cheating boyfriend to the curb. Although she went on to release more albums, none of her other songs would reach the success of her debut single.

Toya - I Do!!

2001 Tinashe aka Toya's career in music didn’t last long, but before she called it quits after one studio album, she gave us this bop.

City High - What Would You Do

“What Would You Do?” stands out as progressive hip-hop song at a time when the genre was largely misogynistic. For such a heavy topic, the song still manages to be extremely catchy.

Crazy Town - Butterfly

Somehow, two guys rapping a sexual innuendo chorus over a Red Hot Chili Peppers sample managed to work.

Dream - He Loves You Not

You may not remember the short-lived girl group Dream, but their hit single “He Loves U Not" was played at Limted Too's around the world. The back-off-from-my-man pop song and video are dripping with early ’00s nostalgia.

Eden's Crush - Get Over Yourself

Before the Pussycat Dolls, there was Eden’s Crush — the first girl group Nicole Scherzinger fronted.. The five-member group was created through the reality competition series Popstars. Eden’s Crush released one album, then quickly disbanded the year after they formed. But, their debut single “Get Over Yourself” made its mark as one of the highest-selling singles of 2001.

Blu Cantrell - Hit ‘Em Up Style (Oops!)

This female-empowered, upbeat R&B track ruled the radio and made singer Blu Cantrell a recognized name at the time.

ONTD Original: movies that should've been a trilogy.

Sometimes a movie and it's sequel just aren't enough to satisfy us and we just want more. Sometimes a single movie is great, a sequel is okay, three is enough, at 4 we want them to stop forever. Here are some movies that should've been a trilogy.

Charlie's Angels

The Charlie's Angels were badass, beautiful women kicking butts, breaking bones, being sexy, funny, and sometimes dancing. And their soundtrack was on point.
I mean, do I need to say more? Why would we want just 2 movies about them?

The Fast and The Furious

2 was the best. We didn't need 3 but it was in Tokyo so, yeah. Should've ended there. But 7 movies? We don't need 7 movies about men playing with their hot wheels cars!!! RIP Paul Walker.

Monsters Inc.

We just need more Sulley with Mike and Boo. Make them a gay couple and make Boo their adopted daughter. I'd watch the shit out of that.

Scream

The 4th one was dumb. And they killed Hayden.

Spy Kids

Spy Kids were awesome, funny, and quirky. The effects were nice, the plot was original, the story was fun... WHY 4? This was a perfect trilogy. Damn, these greedy bastards.

ONTD Original: Top teen movies of the early 2000s

$

2000-2005 was a glorious time for music and film. Maybe it's because I'm biased & that's when I was in my tween phase, but everything from that time drips with nostalgia. If you've spent your teen years hoping to have the same experiences as the teens in these movies, this post is for you! Let's focus on some of the best teen flicks of the early 2000s.

Crossroads (2002)

Everyone was a Britney fan back in the day, and we all loved watching Britney act. Shonda Rhimes came through with the screenplay, and this movies remains fun to watch! Crossroads has it's flaws but it's always there to look back at when you want a nostalgia trip.

The Princess Diaries (2001)

This movie gave awkward girls hope around the world. And for that, it deserves to be on this list. It's also a pretty funny movie and still enjoyable to this day.

Save The Last Dance (2001)

With racial tensions, intensive drama, and dancing, there was a lot more going on in this film than your average teen flick. The soundtrack to this movie was on point and young Kerry Washington remains flawless.

A Walk To Remember (2002)

The adaption of this movie is a bit over-the-top but Mandy's performance will bring you to tears and leave your crying for hours after.

Thirteen (2003)

Evan Rachel Wood really gets into your head with her haunting transformation from troubled little girl to out-of-control problem child. This movie lowkey had us all wanting to try whip-its.

Napoleon Dynamite (2004)

This was quoted to death in 2004, but, when you give it some distance (a decade later) and watch it again, it's suddenly as hilarious as it was the first time.

Sugar & Spice (2001)

Any film that turns a gang of pom-pom tossers into criminals trying to support one of their own after she gets pregnant is worth a spot on this list.

Mean Girls (2004)

This one is pretty self-explanatory. You never get sick of watching this, even for the millionth time.

Bring It On (2000)

Iconique in every sense of the word. The teen flick that DEFINED the early 2000s deserves this spot.

HONORABLE MENTIONS:
- Saved! (2004)
- The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants (2005)
- Ghost World (2001)
- The Hot Chick (2002)
- Not Another Teen Movie (2001)

I'm sure I'll be stoned for missing some movies, so add your favorites!

ontd original: best celebrity beauty lines

$

Every year, crappy cosmetic lines come out with a "celebrity line," which usually has nothing to do with the celeb and are cheap copies of other products. But sometimes a celeb gets involved and the results are magical. Below is a list of the best, not of celeb-endorsed lines, but celeb owned or closely worked with/managed lines.

Jessica Alba: The Honest Company

Launched in 2012, the business, now worth over $1 billion, has made a splash last year in the beauty department with the launch of Honest Beauty. Free of harmful ingredients, these products are guaranteed to be healthy and good for you.
Star Product: The Honest Beauty Everything Primer: An Allure Best of Beauty 2015 winner

Salma Hayek: Nuance by Salma Hayek

A line inspired by her grandmother, this extremely budget friendly drugstore line launched to rave reviews. Covering everything from lipstick to makeup to haircare, the line has it all. Check out beautybets's rave review. Beautypedia also considers this brand a top drugstore line.
Star Product: Overnight Time-Release Retinol Capsules: Beautypedia gave this reasonably priced miracle worker 5 stars.

Katie Holmes - Alterna

Co-owner Katie Holmes escaped Scientology to save your hair. "This luxury brand formulates its advanced hair treatment products with cutting-edge ingredients like hemp, bamboo, caviar and Kendi oil, a natural oil rich in essential fatty acids and antioxidants."
Star Product: Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Omega + Nourishing Oil - Allure considers this THE best oil styling serum

Eva Mendes - Circa Beauty

Another celeb who turned to drugstore affordable prices, Mendes' line is known for its high end look and cheap prices. Refinery29 says "we love Mendes as an actress, but her true calling in life might very well be cosmetics. Her line, Circa, which launched this year, contains some of the most high-end drugstore makeup we've ever tried."
Star Product: Magic Hour Illuminating Concealer - Mendes herself says this is her favorite product, saying that the concealer pen is "everything" to her.

Iman - Iman

This is kinda obvious as her line is now a cosmetics giant. Nothing else to say as you probably all know & are familiar with her impressive collection.
Star Product: Iman BB Créme - a wide selection, good ingredients and an award winning product.

Miranda Kerr - KORA Organics

Kerr's organic and all natural skincare line has proven to be a hit and even won the 2013 Prix de Marie Claire beauty awards. Also probably the most expensive line out of everything in this list.
Star Product: Rosehip Body Oil - also an award winner, this body oil can be used on the face, as well (which might justify the price. okay not really).

Other lines:
Drew Berrymore- Flower; Josie Maran - Josie Maran; Claudia Schiffer - Schwarzkopf; Jennifer Aniston - Living Proof

paris-britney-lindsay-268330 (1)
so its 2004 youve just finished having cyber sex with ur boo on habbo hotel, you open up ya hollister sub group on xanga because a bit needs a new nicole richie icon & one of these songs just finished loading on limewire ..
g9bNl1B

Paris Hilton
um no one was really comin for paris' pop bop queen crown in whatever yr this came out, i mean, "stars are blind" was the true radio hit but the bit came the fuck thru, pop masterpiece magnum opus
The Album: "Paris"
The Hits: "Stars Are Blind", "Turn It Up", "Fighting Over Me", "Jealousy"

Lindsay Lohan
lindsay fucking came all the way through with rumors, this was around the time when like ok, hilary duff (queen) released her international mariah carey sized smash "fly" (where she delivered magnum opus aretha vocals) & like so, u asked ur friend, which song they like better, fly or rumors (you liked fly), ur friend says "rumors" and u knew right then ur friend was trash but like u were pussy popping on a hand stand too but u also recognized that hilary duff was the queen of pop anyway lindsay served up classic r&b smashes with ha first album "speak" i mean if youre gay/gay ally/mar(icon)/a hag & u never listened to "speak" or "a little more personal (raw)" give back ur lgbtq card sis
The Album: "Speak"
The Hits: Rumors, Bossy, To Know Your Name, Speak, If It's Alright, Black Hole

Hilary Duff
slalary was an esteemed actress and grammy award winner but she was as much apart of the bimbo summit as the other gorls, just in a different way, like she classed it up a bit and also um, dignity sis .. is a hallmark of 00s pop music, she gave us pop, r&b, freestyle, bollywood she dragged nicole richie on "gypsy woman" (problematic queen), dragged joel madden (stranger), dragged lindsay lohan (dignity), dragged sadness (happy), she kinda DID that, if youre gay/gay ally/mar(icon)/a hag & u never listened to "dignity" honestly its more of a self drag than anything else
The Album: "Dignity"

The Hits: "Stranger", "Gypsy Woman", "Happy"(bitch 10s 10s 10s across the board)

Carly Rae Jepsen
so she got ha start in 2007 according to the good wiki sis, and paris hilton has a song called "turn it up" and carly has a song called "turn me up" also carly was on broadway in the little mermaid which is from disney which is where hilary got her start and carly once had lunch at the grove where nicole richie had lunch so i felt that she should be included
The Album: "Kiss", "Emotion"
The Hits: "Turn Me Up", "Drive", "Sweetie", "Tiny Little Bows", "Boy Problems", "I Didn't Just Come Here to Slay"

Ashley Tisdale
n honestly, i just stan the singles which were only like two but honestly for like two mins back in the mid 00s she was the queen of pop, anytime you put strings on a pop song (misteeq - scandalous), the gp sis wont get it but the gays will and will stan a pop song with strings for forever tbh
The Album: Headstrong i guess
The Hits: "He Said She Said", "Be Good To Me"

Brooke Hogan
look bitch, we will recognize brooke hogan as the queen of 00s pop, wwhat we wont do is pretend "about us" never happened, what we wont do is pretend ha magnum opus of an album cover didnt happen, queen of refined taste, anyway about us is a hallmark of pop and r&b and was number one on the billboard charts for 23 weeks longer than any of mariah careys singles, it featured king of rap pall wall, she single handedly brought back grills, she was wearing kate hudsons fabletics in the video before kate hudson even thought about it, queen of music and melody queen brooke
The Album: Brooke Hogans Greatest Hits

Heidi Montag
um, when we talk about queens of pop, u know the madonnas, the britneys, we have to pay homage to the true melodic queen of pop heidi montag, lol but all jokes aside, if these songs werent by "her" because by this time she was known as an esteemed reality star, they lowkey wouldve been hits, "body language" is THE bop, like ..... how can i make it clear? its the bop, also she covered queen gagas fashion, or rather gaga covered her fashion

Nicole Richie
nicole couldve had a bigger music career music but she was too busy single handedly writing pulitzer prize winning book "the truth about diamonds" and establishing herself as an esteemed author queen of literature but she couldnt let the other gorls have all the fun so she gave us the true r&b smash of the decade "dandelion" shes serving us raw emotion, and singing on the floor in the studio with a bottle of wine, shes serving hand written solo song writing credit, shes serving poet, shes serving shakespear(s)

Kelly Osborne
look, ok, i just report the facts and kelly came thru with a bop like a mega bop, its pro(bop)ably the best like pure pop song on this list tbh, i think i heard she copied the song sis from some french new wave band but tbh it doesnt matter like gorls, if ur gonna steal something, if it comes out good, it doesnt matter and kelly slayed this so

ONTD Original: Underrated Kanye West Produced Tracks

$
0
0
Let's try to remember Kanye West before he became half of 'Kimye' or even before that Taylor Swift situation, he was still the egotistical rapper he is today but was also known as the 'Louis Vuitton Don' who produced great songs like You Don't Know My Name, Jesus Walks, Used to Love U, Overnight Celebrity, '03 Bonnie & Clyde and who made controversy but necessary commentary on Hurricane Katrina.

But for know lets talk about the positive of Kanye West and what better way is to talk about his old music. Kanye West hails from the South Side of Chicago where he became deeply involved in the hip-hop scene. As a teenage, Kanye met producer No I.D. who taught Kanye 'how to sample and program beats after he received his first sampler at age 15'. By the age of 20, Kanye dropped out of Chicago State University (where his mother was a professor also) to pursue his musical dreams where he became the main producer for Roc-A-Fella Records and then later signed by the label. (If you want to hear more about how he got started you should listen to Last Call off of the College Dropout)

This list will be songs to me that are either underrated or songs most have slept on. This list will be second in a series where I'll highlight very known producers and their underrated/less popular songs.

I Want You (2004) – Janet Jackson

This 2004 song was produced by West along with Janet's long time producers Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and Janet herself. Music critics were very positive on song saying the song 'complimented Jackson's vocals and its fusion of nostalgic and modern qualities'. But the song was basically blacklisted on the radio due to the infamous halftime show at that years Super Bowl. Critics and fans alike think that the song would've been an "across-the-board smash" if the situation at the Super Bowl hadn't happened.

But on the positive side, the single was certified Platinum and earned a Grammy nomination.

FYI – John Legend played piano and co-wrote the single

The Corner (2005) – Common

After signing with West's label Good Music and releasing his 6th album Be (2005), Common put out one of his hardest tracks with The Corner. It was a moderate success hitting #42 on Hip-Hop single charts but it remains one of Common's classic tracks

I Changed My Mind (2004) – Keyshia Cole

Her first single from her debut album, the Oakland, CA native released 'I Changed My Mind' it being moderate successful song with it peaking at #71 on the Billboard 100. This song would be the first in the many hits (I Should Have Cheated, I Just Want to be Over, and Love) off of The Way It Is (2005)

This Way (2004) – Dilated Peoples

Dilated Peoples, a underground hip-hop group who hail from Los Angeles, had their only mainstream hit with This Way that charted on the Billboard 100 at #78.

Brown Sugar (2002) – Mos Def featuring Faith Evans

This song was featured on the Brown Sugar soundtrack and (in my opinion) was overshadowed by the smash jam Love of My Life (An Ode to Hip-Hop) from Erykah Badu (which I also love). Not much to say is that I love this song and love the soundtrack.

Honorable Mentions
Selfish– Slum Village, Down & Out– Cam'ron, Lucifer– Jay-Z, Family Business– Kanye West, Brand New– Rhymefest, Comfortable– Lil' Wayne, Make Me Say– Kid Cudi, Stay the Night– Mariah Carey, Talk About Our Love– Brandy, Higher– Do or Die, and Celebration– Kanye West

ONTD Original: 25 ALLEGED Domestic Abusers Who Got Away With it (by Suffering no Career Backlash)

$
0
0
In the light of recent events, some of us might naively wonder whether the domestic abuse allegations will hurt Johnny Depp's career.

They won't.

Hollywood, being the sausage fest that we all know and love, likes to turn a blind eye to anything that might interfere with the cash flow.

Let's drink some tea, shall we?

Kermit_tea

1. Charlie Sheen

512px-Charlie_Sheen_2012

What happened? This quintessential Hollywood bad boy is no stranger to domestic abuse allegations. Sheen shot his fiancée Kelly Preston in 1990, but claimed this had been an accident. His second wife Denise Richards reported she had been physically abused by him. She also accused Sheen of drug use and the consumption of child pornography. His third wife made similar claims, which led to Charlie Sheen eventually pleading guilty to third-degree domestic violence. Despite these numerous allegations, Sheen was the highest paid TV actor in the late 2000s, earning $1.8 million per episode of Two and a Half Men. Sheen's career took a nosedive after his alleged drug problem got out of hand.

What is he doing now? Presumably still drinking tiger blood and enjoying his fortune of $125 million.

2. Ozzy Osbourne

OzzyChangingHands02-20-2010

What happened? Tried to kill his wife Sharon while he was under the influence of drugs. Sharon said: I knew that something was going to happen. He went to bed. I was reading downstairs. He came down in his underpants, sat on the sofa right opposite me and said, 'We've come to a decision. […] We're very sorry but you're going to have to die. There's no other option.'
The couple reconciled later, although their marriage was plaqued by cheating rumors and never appeared to be untroubled. In 2009, Ozzy said that he regretted trying to kill Sharon. 'It wasn't my plan to […] try to strangle her and end up in prison.'

What is he doing now? Either being a serial cheater and/or a victim of elder abuse.

3. Christian Slater

Christian_Slater_at_the_64th_Berlin_International_Film_Festival,_February_2014

What happened? Slater was convicted of assaulting his girlfriend Michelle Jonas back in the 90s. He spent three months in jail and was sent to rehab. In 2005, he allegedly harassed a woman on a New Yorker street. He was charged with third degree sexual abuse but the charges were later dropped 'on the condition that [he] would keep out of trouble for six months'.

What is he doing now? Just won a Golden Globe award, Satellite award, and Critics' Choice award for his role on Mr. Robot.

4. Sean Penn

Sean_Penn_by_Sachyn_Mital_(cropped)

What happened? This lower-tier demon from hell and his human flesh vessel have been accused of various incidents of domestic violence. During the course of their marriage, Madonna claimed to have been severely abused by Penn, but later dropped any charges. She made headlines last year when she publicly disputed the domestic abuse allegations once more, stating that her former husband had never hit her. Allegedly, Penn was once arrested for the attempted murder of a paparazzo and was charged with battery and vandalism. Penn recently filed a $10 million defamation lawsuit against Empire co-creator Lee Daniels after Daniels had insinuated that Penn abused women.

What is he doing now? Getting roasted for his tone-deaf white savior movie The Last Face, in which Charlize Theron and Javier Bardem are rumored to give the worst performances of their careers.

5. Nicolas Cage

423px-Nicolas_Cage_Deauville_2013

What happened? In 2011, Cage was arrested after a violent argument with his wife Alice Kim. He appeared to have been heavily intoxicated and no charges were pressed. In 2009, his former girlfriend Christina Fulton claimed that he had mentally, physically and emotionally abused her during the course of their relationship.

What is he doing now? Being a living and breathing meme. Upcoming projects include an Oliver Stone movie about whistleblower Edward Snowden.

6. Josh Brolin

Josh_Brolin_Berlin_2016

What happened? Was charged with spousal battery in 2004. A spokesperson was quick to assure the public that although Diane Lane had indeed called the police and claimed that Brolin had hit her, 'there was a misunderstanding', and 'Diane did not want to press charges.' Also, the arrest was for 'the lowest-end misdemeanor charge of domestic battery.' Phew! I'm glad she just misunderstood being hit!

What is he doing now? Being typecast as the fictional supervillain Thanos in the MCU.

7. Chris Brown

Chris_Brown_5,_2012

What happened? This collection of bad choices has a long history of violent behavior. Over the years, Brown has been accused of assault, robbery, battery, hit-and-run, and vandalism (not to mention general assholery and bigotry). In 2009, he assaulted his then-girlfriend Rihanna. He was charged with felony assault and pled guilty, accepting a plea deal which sentenced him to five years of probation, one year of domestic violence counseling and six month of community service. While Brown's career initially suffered after his assault on Rihanna, '[the incident ultimately] had little bearing on the progress of his music and acting careers.' His 2015 album Royalty sold 360.000 units, making it Brown's seventh top ten debut in the United States. Rihanna has said that she felt 'punished over and over' by the media, which made her relive the assault.

What is he doing now? Most likely dragging women on social media.

8. Terrence 'Baby Wipes' Howard

Terrence_Howard_TIFF_2011

What happened? Baby Wipes admitted to hitting both his first wife and his second wife in a 2015 Rolling Stone interview. Is quoted saying, '[Lori McCommas] was talking to me real strong, and I lost my mind and slapped her in front of the kids.' His second wife, Michelle Ghent, got a restraining order after several incidents had occurred. Ghent claimed that he had carried her to a balcony and threatened to throw her off it.

What is he doing now? Enjoying his Empire success and promoting anal hygiene. Inventing his own language of logic which he calls 'Terryology' and wants to present to the public at some point in the future. Claims that he can prove that '1 x 1 = 2.'

9. Sean Connery

SeanConneryJune08

What happened? Allegedly abused his first wife, Diane Cilento, both verbally and physically. Went on record saying that it's not 'that bad to slap women' depending on the context, specifically 'if you want to have the last word but a woman won't let you.'

What is he doing now? Enjoying his retirement. Was named the 'Sexiest Man of the Century' by People magazine as well as 'Scotland's Greatest Living National Treasure' by the National Treasures Report.

10. Mike Tyson

Mike_Tyson_Portrait_lighting_corrected

What happened? Tyson was charged with the rape of an 18-year old in 1992. The trial quickly took a nasty turn. Even those who were sympathetic to the ordeal of the victim said that she should have known what to expect. Tyson was eventually convicted of rape and sentenced to six years in prison. Despite being in his mid twenties at the time of the crime, he was sent to the Indiana Youth Center and released after serving only three years.

What is he doing now? Enjoying a surprisingly prolific career as a comedic actor with appearances in the ultimate bro comedies Hangover I and II, as well as How I Met Your Mother, Entourage, Scary Movie 5 and Family Guy. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump recently said that he supported Tyson and that the boxer had been 'railroaded.' Mike Tyson stepped forward as a Trump supporter.

11. Alec Baldwin

Alec_Baldwin_Cannes_2012

What happened? This walking temper tantrum called his daughter a 'rude thoughtless pig' when she was only eleven and threatened to fly to LA to 'straighten her ass out'. In interviews, he occasionally muses which people he would like to kill. Kim Basinger said that it's funny that she turned down Sleeping with the Enemy and then went on to sleep with the enemy. During their divorce, she claimed that Baldwin had abused her physically and emotionally.

What is he doing now? After playing 'TV's most lovable misogynist' on Tina Fey's 30 Rock, he has no less than eight projects listed up for the next two years. In his free time he enjoys getting arrested for riding his bicycle the wrong way.

12. Mickey Rourke

428px-Mickey_Rourke_Tribeca_2009_Shankbone

What happened? This human trash can proposed to his girlfriend Carré Otis by threatening to kill himself if she didn't say yes. Was arrested for spousal abuse in 1994. Even ten years after the separation, Rourke said that he wouldn't ever compromise and that he was still waiting for his former wife to come back to him.

What is he doing now? Defending Johnny Depp. Surprising everyone by not being a Trump supporter. Decidedly not surprising everyone by claiming he wants to take a bat to Donald Trump.

13. Sean Bean

Sean_Bean_TIFF_2015

What happened? Described as an 'old-fashioned chauvinist' and a 'macho Northern male', Sean Bean admitted he just doesn't understand women. Was arrested on the suspicion of domestic assault in 2008. His wife claimed that everything was blown out of proportion and that they're totally fine.

What is he doing now? Being a human spoiler. Choosing questionable projects. Lots of voice acting.

14. Steven Segal

489px-Steven_Seagal_by_Gage_Skidmore

What happened? This disposal site for toxic waste allegedly abused and raped his wife, model Kelly LeBrock. A former assistant also accused him of sexual harassment AND sex trafficking. The resulting lawsuit was privately resolved. Five more women came forward with similar accusations.

What is he doing now? Hanging out with Vladimir Putin, whom he describes a 'brother'. Supporting his decision to annex Crimea.

15. Emma Roberts

Emma_Roberts_by_Gage_Skidmore_-_2015_San_Diego_Comic-Con_International_(2)

What happened? Was arrested in Montreal after allegedly beating and biting her boyfriend Evan Peters. He didn't press charges and proposed to her a few months later. They ended the engagement in mid 2015, but reconciled later.

What is she doing now? Currently stuck playing high school and college students. Has a decent career and some name recognition, but fails to replicate her aunt's meteoric rise to fame.

16. Oscar Pistorius

Oscar_Pistorius_in_Warsaw_(cropped)

What happened? This South African athlete and Olympic gold medal winner fatally shot his girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp, on Valentine's Day 2013. He claimed to have mistaken her for an intruder. After a highly public trial he was found guilty of culpable homicide and received a prison sentence of five years. He was released into house arrest after one-sixth of his prison term had been served. Pistorius might have a history of domestic violence: in 2009, he was arrested for allegedly assaulting a 19-year-old girl at his house.

What is he doing now? Due to the 'shocking lightness' of Pistorius' sentence, the culpable homicide verdict was appealed. The court unanimously overturned the decision and found him guilty of murder. The sentence hearing takes place in June 2016.

17. Michael Fassbender

Michael_Fassbender_by_Gage_Skidmore_2015

What happened? His ex-girlfriend Sunawin Andrews claimed that he assaulted her (breaking her nose in the process and causing other injuries, all of them horrific). The accusations were dropped later. For hardcore Fassie fans, Andrews has been an object of scorn ever since.

What is he doing now? Serving as our daily reminder that we need to brush our teeth. Starring in the current Fox flop X-Men: Apocalypse. Upcoming projects include Assassin's Creed and Alien: Covenant.

18. 50 Cent

449px-50_Cent_2012

What happened? 50 Cent allegedly kicked the mother of his child, Daphne Joy, and destroyed her Californian condo. He made fun of the charges on social media and avoided jail with a plea deal (not contesting a count of misdemeanor vandalism in exchange for the dismissal of all other counts).

What is he doing now? Diversifying his portfolio. Chilling with Meryl Streep and Bette Middler.

19. Wesley Snipes

460px-Wesleysnipes_cropped_2009

What happened? Wesley Snipes (yes, that's what he looks like these days) allegedly assaulted Halle Berry, reportedly hitting the actress so hard she lost 80% of the hearing in her right ear. Halle Berry recently said she still struggles with the aftermath of her abuse and has made it her life's purpose to help other women in that situation. She also said that helping abused women isn't always a 'sympathetic cause' and that it's 'much easier to raise money for […] every other affliction that affects every person walking the planet.' She never named her abuser.

What is he doing now? Was charged with income tax conviction and was sentenced to three years in prison. Was released in 2013. Recently got an acting gig in The Expendables 3.

20. Eminem

Eminem_DJ_Hero

What happened? This marshmallow has been hyped as the white savior of an entire music genre, profiting from implicit racism, explicit homophobia and a whole lot of misogyny. His on and off relationship with Kim Mathers inspired many of his songs, including 'Kim', in which he verbally abuses her (Sit down bitch! You move again I'll beat the shit out of you! Quit crying, bitch! Why do you always make me shout at you?) and ultimately fantasizes about killing her. He also beat up a blow-up doll that resembled his wife at one of his concerts, nearly driving Kim to suicide. 'Seeing the crowd's response and everybody cheering, singing the words and laughing and it just felt like everyone was staring at me,' Kim says. 'I knew that it was about me and that night I went home and I tried to commit suicide.'

What is he doing now? Chilling on his fortune of $200 million. Deciding he hasn't profited enough from domestic abuse and released 'Love the Way You Lie' in 2010. Serving us whiny manpain. Still considered one of the greats and admired for keeping it real.

21. David O. Russell

David_O._Russell_avp_2014

What happened? While not quite fitting the definition of a domestic abuser, professional sleazeball and critic's darling David O. Russell allegedly admitted that he has groped his own niece. He didn't face any charges for the incident. (And if you're asking him, he will allegedly tell you that she acted provocatively). His abusive treatment of Amy Adams on the set of American Hustle also generated headlines.

What is he doing now? Getting a cheek tattoo of JLaw's lipstick stain. Embarrassing everyone in his vicinity.

22. Roman Polanski

424px-Roman_Polanski_Cannes_2013

What happened? This mummified gremlin has made it his lifelong mission to be outraged that men of his caliber can and will be prosecuted for raping children. He also dated Natassja Kinski while she was 'between fifteen and seventeen' and he was 43. The list of certified Hollywood assholes his supporters includes Woody Allen, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, Martin Scorcese, David Lynch, Stephen Frears, Michael Mann, Tilda Swinton, Pedro Almodovar, Monica Bellucci, Ewan McGregor, Adrien Brody, Johnny Depp and others.

What is he doing now? Chilling in Switzerland. Whining that mortal laws apply to him. Serving as an efficient litmus test for human decency.

23. Eric Roberts

Eric_Roberts_FSC_2015

What happened? Eric Roberts is known more for his little sister Julia and his daughter Emma than for his own acting, although he has worked in the industry for more than three decades and enjoys a quite prolific career in his own right. Was arrested for domestic violence back in the 90s. Admitted to a drug problem.

What is he doing now? Defending his daughter Emma after the domestic abuse allegations against her broke ('they're grown-ups'). Miraculously has more than thirty projects listed for 2016. Plays award-baiting roles such as 'man', 'judge', and 'loan shark'.

24. Mel Gibson

424px-Mel_Gibson_Cannes_2011_-_2

What happened? This former industry darling is prone to violent outbursts and has insulted every minority demographic there is to insult, displaying an eclectic selection of racism, antisemitism, homophobia and sexism. He was sentenced to three years of probation as well as counseling and community service after he allegedly hit his girlfriend (the mother of his child). Phone calls in which he threatened his girlfriend were leaked to the public. He describes that incident as 'terribly humiliating and painful for my family', asking, 'who anticipates being recorded? ... Who could anticipate such a personal betrayal?' In contrast to everyone else on this list, Gibson actually suffered from the consequences of his actions - although it's unclear how much the domestic abuse allegations contributed to his fall from grace.

What is he doing now? Popping up in random movies. Serving as a human punchbag for Ricky Gervais.

25. Tommy Lee

400px-Tommy_Lee_2012

What happened? Pled no contest to a charge of spousal battery against then-wife Pamela Anderson. Spent six months in jail and paid $6000 to a women's shelter.

What is he doing now? Enjoys his fortune of $70 million. Supports PETA.

the-office-ryan-notes-gif-1427208419

26. Columbus Short

800px-Columbus_Short_at_WonderCon_2

What happened? Pled no contest to misdemeanor spousal battery and was sentenced to three years of probation and 30 days of community labor.

What is he doing now? Was fired from Scandal after he had been charged with battery. Praise Shonda's light.

All About My Mother (Todo Sobre Mi Madre)

Viewed by many critics and cinephiles as Pedro Almodóvar's best film, All About My Mother is a meditation on the beauty and complexity of women and how some lucky men are endowed with that same mix of softness and grit. It is told through the experiences of Manuela (Argentinian actress Cecilia Roth), who loses and gains children, lovers, and friends during an odyssey through Madrid and Barcelona. The protagonist also encounters AIDS and drugs, but the tale doesn't feel soapy, only heartfelt. All the characters face life with a passion and resolve that feels uniquely Spanish. With beautiful cinematography and near-perfect performances, out director Almodovar proved himself a global treasure with this film.
Available on Netflix Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Italy

Carol

In this adaptation of the novel "The Price of Salt" by Patricia Highsmith, Therese (Rooney Mara), a young department-store clerk in 1950s Manhattan, meets Carol (Cate Blanchett), a beautiful older woman stuck in a depressing marriage of convenience. As their bond deepens and they become romantically involved, Carol finds the strength to leave her husband (Kyle Chandler). Unfortunately, her spouse starts to raise questions about her fitness as a mother when he realizes that Carol's relationships with her best friend Abby (Sarah Paulson) and Therese are more than just friendships. Voted Best LGBT Movie by the BFI.

Circumstance

Atafeh and her brother, Mehran, have grown up privileged, in a home filled with music, art, and intellectual curiosity. While Atafeh dreams of fame and adventure, and she and her best friend, Shireen, explore Tehran's underground scene with youthful exuberance and determination to be themselves, her brother returns home from drug rehab, renounces his former decadent life, and replaces his once obsessive practice of classical music with more destructive pursuits.

Desert Hearts

Donna Deitch's directorial debut is the first "real" lesbian film (an out lesbian, nobody dies, two women have sex). Based on lesbian author Jane Rule’s novel, Desert of the Heart follows Vivian (Helen Shaver), a repressed divorcee waiting out the legal finalities in a ranch guesthouse in 1950s Nevada. Vivian is all class and repression, and the ranch owner warns her to stay away from her irrepressible lesbian daughter Cay (Patricia Charbonneau, wearing jean shorts and cowboy boots and a whole lot of lesbian lust). Turns out, that’s who she’s drawn to, and soon Cay is unrepressing Viv in the first real lesbian sex scene in a film. Their growing relationship played against the rocky red soil and rolling landscape doesn’t necessarily have a future, but it’s the sight of Vivian’s slow but seismic sexual awakening that makes this film Deitch’s valentine to the rest of us.

Far From Heaven

Gay writer-director Todd Haynes pays worthy homage to the 1950s melodramas of Douglas Sirk. Julianne Moore is exquisite as a suburban housewife whose life is upended when she discovers her husband (Dennis Quaid) is gay, and she finds herself attracted to a black gardener (Dennis Haysbert). Haynes does it all in the lush Sirk style, while addressing issues that stayed under the radar of '50s films.

Go Fish

One of the most important lesbian films of all time, the indie romantic drama Go Fish was lauded when it came out in the early 1990s as the first film about being a lesbian and helped mirror conversations happening in the real world about butch-femme dichotomies, familial pressures for queers of color, owning lesbian history, and why lesbians who sleep with men get lambasted.

Happy Together

The story of two passionate, on-again-off-again lovers won Best Director for Wong Kar-wai at Cannes. It follows Yiu-Fai and Po-Wing on a trip to Argentina that seems to leave the couple falling apart. On a list of the 50 most essential gay films from Out magazine, playwright Tony Kushner described Happy Together's leading men enthusiastically. "The actors are both brilliant, funny, and terrifically moving, irritating and endearing," he wrote. "They bicker, battle, and make love with complete abandon, and — well, why not say it? — they’re the sexiest gay couple ever filmed."

My Own Private Idaho

Gay director Gus Van Sant's meandering story follows River Phoenix, who plays Mike, a troubled gay street hustler, and his best friend (played by Keanu Reeves) from the streets of Portland to Seattle to Italy and Idaho. Along the way, the film explores love and loss, betrayal and the street life a lot of LGBT kids find themselves in. It's a bit of a gay Easy Rider and a must-see; poignant, emotional, frustrating, and don't expect a happy ending.

Pariah

Pariah, a coming-of-age tale about a 17-year-old black lesbian in Brooklyn, N.Y., is a breakthrough film that is marked by a strong performance from actress Adepero Oduye, who, as the protagonist Alike, explores and eventually embraces her sexuality within an environment where the stakes of such honesty are high. When Alike finally reveals her true self to her parents, the results are both heartbreaking and hopeful. Written and directed by Dee Rees and produced by Spike Lee, Pariah was lauded by critics, who praised how it imbued the familiar narrative of coming out with a freshness and vitality that resonated with audiences regardless of sexual orientation.
Available on Netflix US

Paris is Burning

This documentary shone a bright light on the African-American, Latino, and LGBT communities involved in the New York City ball culture of the mid-to-late 1980s. Directed by Jennie Livingston, Paris Is Burning brought an underground aspect of LGBT culture to the mainstream. From the use of slang (“serving realness”) to unforgettable quotes (“reading is fundamental”), the film has had a lasting impact on both LGBT and mainstream pop culture.

Saving Face

Yes, a lesbian rom-com! Wilhelmina Pang (Michelle Krusiec) is a surgeon living in Manhattan whose mother (Joan Chen) is eager for her to settle down with a nice man and get married. What Ma doesn't know is that Wilhelmina happens to be a lesbian -- or rather, Ma prefers not to acknowledge it, since she once walked in on Wilhelmina and her girlfriend several years before. As it happens, Wilhelmina is looking for someone special in her life, and thinks she may have found her in Vivian (Lynn Chen), a beautiful dancer, but a fear of commitment and a desire to keep her medical career on track is making their relationship problematic. As Wilhelmina tries to get her love life in order, her mother's shifts into crisis mode. Ma, a 48-year-old widow, has just discovered she's pregnant, and her staunchly traditional father (Li Zhiyu) will not allow her back into the home they share until she's married someone respectable. Unwilling to name the father of her baby, Ma is forced to move in with Wilhelmina, and while enduring the emotional roller coaster of pregnancy she is being pressured by friends and relatives to marry Cho (Nathaniel Geng), a sweet but boring man she doesn't especially like.

Tangerine

Tangerine is a 2015 American comedy-drama film directed by Sean S. Baker and written by Baker and Chris Bergoch, starring Kitana Kiki Rodriguez, Mya Taylor, and James Ransone. The story follows a transgender sex worker who discovers her boyfriend and pimp has been cheating on her. The film was shot with three iPhone 5s smartphones.
Available on Netflix Canada, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Italy, USA, Netherland, Belgium, Spain, Japan, Russia, Poland

The Way He Looks (Hoje Eu Quero Voltar Sozinho)

A Brazilian coming-of-age romantic drama film based on the 2010 short film I Don't Want to Go Back Alone (Eu Não Quero Voltar Sozinho). Leonardo is a blind teenager searching for independence. His everyday life, the relationship with his best friend, Giovana, and the way he sees the world change completely with the arrival of Gabriel.
Available on Netflix US and Brazil

Tomboy

A French family with two daughters, 10-year-old Laure and 6-year-old Jeanne, moves to a new neighborhood during the summer holidays. With her Jean Seberg haircut and tomboy ways, Laure is immediately mistaken for a boy by the local kids and passes herself off as Michael. Filmmaker Céline Sciamma brings a light and charming touch to this drama of childhood gender confusion. Zoe Heran as Laure/Michael and Malonn Levanna as Jeanne are nothing less than brilliant. This is a relationship movie: relationships between children, and the even more complicated one between one's heart and body.
Available on Netflix Canada, Brazil, Germany and Italy

Weekend

This beautifully restrained film tells the story of two young gay British men who meet at a club, hook up, and fall in love over the course of an eventful weekend. One of the guys is introverted and half-closeted, while the other is brash, gregarious, and wears his sexuality on his sleeve; their worldviews complement each other and their chemistry is explosive. Through passionate conversations, many drug-fueled, they alternately challenge, confuse, and confound each other. It's a grown-up, no-holds-barred exploration of modern love between men, and even the sex is honest. Directed by Andrew Haigh, who's moved on to executive-produce HBO's Looking, the film well deserved its status as a critical darling.
Available on Netflix Canada, US, Australia, New Zealand and the Netherlands

10. Social Network

Okay movie, amazing soundtrack, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have done an amazing job in reflecting a dark ambiance with the soundtrack. The OST got a %76 on Metacritics, and debuted #1 on Billboard's top soundtracks list.

9. The Graduate

With both Sound of Silence, and Mrs. Robinson, undoubtedly one of the most iconic soundtracks. The ode to older women went on to inspire many more soundtracks, from Forrest Gump, to The Holiday.

8. Breakfast Club

Featuring Simple Minds' Don't You Forget About Me, Breakfast Club, while being one of the most iconic movies of the 80s, also has a soundtrack that perhaps is the embodiment of the 80s.

7. Perks Of Being A Wallflower

And in that moment, were u infinite ONTD ?
Despite the criticism of the elite 4, Perks of Being a Wallflower actually has a good OST, featuring The Smiths, Sonic Youth and Bowie. Riding coattails for sure, but doesn't make it any less good.

6. Kill Bill Vol.1

I honestly debated a lot between this and Lost Highway, but decided Kill Bill deserved it more even though my heart would side with Lost Highway (Reznor and MM, it was a really good soundtrack tbh) but Kill Bill has the iconic hit Bang Bang, and nothing on Lost Highway tops that.

5. Romeo + Juliet
Playing personal favorites, but genuinely one of my favorite movies, featuring one of my favorite artists deserves this spot. Also featuring Lovefools, and Talk Show Host ? The Cardigans and Radiohead claim this spot alone tbh.

4. Great Gatsby
I will not pretend. I've been in love with Young & Beautiful since it came out. It may not deserve #4, alas, idc. I love that song. Kimye requested Lana to play it during their wedding (lmao they are nothing if classy !!!) No but honestly, Young & Beautiful remains as Lana's perhaps most successful track (side eyeing BTD and Ride). Dear lord, when I get to heaven...

3. Trainspotting

Well, what to say. From Lou Reed to Iggy Pop, to New Order. It was just a good soundtrack. (Pulp & Bowie as well)

2. Moulin Rouge

The reason an entire generation knows how to ask for sex in french.

crying tbh

kill me:

1. Velvet Goldmine

I will forever play personal favorites and since it's my favorite movie of all times, roll with it. It features Ewan McGregor singing Gimme Danger and Hot One, 20th Century Boy by Placebo, features Radiohead as well. Shame Bowie never greenlit his songs being used on the movie.

Honorable mentions include, but not limited to: Bodyguard, Natural Born Killers, Lost Highway, Pulp Fiction, Marie Antoinette, Slumdog Millionaire, 50 Shades and oddly enough Guardians of Galaxy.

A Definitive History in "Slut-Pop"
orig-21349694
***** i dont condone the word slut before ya jump, but as history will have it, it is what it is, we'll take back the term gorls, think empowering, think destinys child anthem, think underarm hair, fuck men, anyway, the best thing to come outta the word slut is slut pop

slut pop
slut-pop
slət-PaHp/
noun

  1. 1.
a sub-caterogy of pop music where its straight bops & bangers, like just straight to the fuckin point, might mention bjs, pannies, dick, ass, and stuff that otherwise mainstream pop wont dare gurl, it usually features a sole female singer, usually moderately to super attractive, usually scantily clad, usually not needing aretha level vocals (mariah carey subverted this i guess)
    synonyms:bangers, bops

70s
slut-pop probably goes back as far as popular music does but for times sake i'll start in the 70s, the musicality of slutpop in the 70s was that of softness, it was almosty shy, demure, blurry, tender, it wasn't brash, it was hinted, it was feminine. the pioneer of the genre, donna summer (who doesn't get enough credit when were talking about popular music in general) really initiated the genre as we know it today, she started the template of an artist being mostly produced by someone else, being a muse of sorts, giving u visuals, and she turned out the music industry with "love to love you" ushering in an era of pop gorls being more sexually free in appearance, lyrically and perfomance-wise

Pionerring Hit: Donna Summer - "Love To Love You"

Subsequent Hits:

Andrea True Connection - "More, More, More"
Notable lyrics: (More, more, more) How do you like it? How do you like it?

Anita Ward - "Ring My Bell"
"You can ring my bell, ring my bell"

Labelle - "Lady Marmalade"
Notable lyrics: "Voulez vous coucher avec moi?"

The Staple Singers - "Let's Do It Again"
Notably lyrics: "I'm not a girl that could linger, but I feel like a butter finger"

80s
the 80s basically disregarded all of the slutpop of the 70s, alot of the 80s slutpop was either r&b based or pop with an r&b angle, the beats were smutty, the lyrics were more forward, but had a tinge of luxury and personal opinions aside, madonna slayed and basically invented slutpop of the 80s

Pioneering Hit: Madonna - "Like a Virgin"

Subsequent Hits:
Samantha Fox - "Touch Me (I Want Your Body"
Notable lyrics: the whole song but ..
"Like a tramp in the night
I was begging for you
To treat my body
Like you wanted to"
***a case could be made for samantha fox as she took the madonna model and turn THAT on its head lmao, but like the gp lowkey wasnt here for samantha it was just too much gorl, but the gays will forever stan, she is THE pioneer of slut-pop, the willa ford of the 80s, queen samantha

Mary Jane Girls - "In My House"
Notable lyrics: "So when you need some lovin tenderness
And it's me baby that you miss
Here's the key to unlock the door
To my house (to my house)
wo-oo-oo-oo- in my house
wo-oo-oo-oo in my house"
*i think ya know what "my house" means

Alisha - "All Night Passion"
Notable lyrics:"All night, all night passion
All night, all night passion
All night passion gets me through the day"

Salt N Pepa - "Push It"
Notable lyrics:"Can't you hear the music's pumpin' hard like I wish you would? Now push it"

90s
mainstream wise the 90s basically belonged to r&b and i could make a whole other post about slut-pop made by guys but "if" by janet jackson was a big moment in slut-pop because up until that point jan was pretty much a goody two shoes, but she gives the gorls straight up dirty sleazy slut pop magnum opus

Pioneering Hit: Janet Jackson - "If"

Subsequent Hits:

20 Fingers ft Gillette: "Short Dick Man"
Notable lyrics:"Don't want no short dick man
Don't want no short dick man
Don't want no short dick man
Don't want no short dick man"

Adina Howard - "Freak Like Me"
Notable lyrics: "cause I will be a freak
until the day until the dawn
and we can pump, pump
all through the night till the early morn
come on and I will take you
around the 'hood on a gangsta lean
'cause we can pump, pump
any time of day it's all good for me"

Monifah - "Touch It"
Notable lyrics:"Give it to me give it to me call my name
This boys shyness got me wet like crazy
I want it more and more
When you call my name and spank me
Ooh"

Toni Braxton - "You're Makin Me High"
Notable lyrics: "All i want is
Moonlights, with you there inside me
All night, doin it again and again
You know i want you so bad
Baby, baby, baby, baby"

00s
The 00's slowed it down a little, lyrics weren't as blatant as they were in the 90's and the beats weren't as smutty as they were in the 80's
** Nelly Furtado - "Promiscuious Girl" is not a slut-pop song, its a slut pop song subverted, its smarter and more aware than your average slut-pop song

Pioneering Hit: Willa Ford - "I Wanna Be Bad"

Subsequent Hits:

Khia - "My Neck, My Back"
Notable lyrics:

"My Neck, my back
Lick my pussy and my crack
My Neck, my back
Lick my pussy and my crack
My Neck, my back
Lick my pussy and my crack
My Neck, my back
Lick my pussy and my crack"

Britney Spears - "Gimme More"
Notable lyrics:"You got me in a crazy position (uh huh)
If you're on a mission (ooh)
You got my permission oh"

Christina Milian - "Dip It Low"
Notable lyrics:
"Dip it low
Pick it up slow
Roll it all around
Poke it out let your back roll
Pop pop pop that thing
Ima show you how to make your man say "Ooo""

Cassie - "Me & U"
Notable lyrics: "Baby, I'll love you all the way down
Get you right where you like it, I promise you'll like it (I swear)
Just relax and let me make that move (It's our secret thang)
Keep it between me and you"

Heidi Montag - "I'll Do It"
Notable lyrics: "Pick me, take me, off up into ya dungeon
I brought some treats
I know that you gon love em
Come eat m panties off of me"

10s
Pioneering Hit: Carly Rae Jepsen - "Hurt So Good"

ONTD Original: Gemini Problematic Faves and Problems!

$

0
It’s FINALLY GEM40253.gif season! And in true gemini fashion, we made sure to get this post to you late, half-assed, but hopefully full of wit and charm-- just like our Gemini friends! So, let’s get to the best part and take a look at the Gemini PROBLEMS. Shout out to Johnny Depp for outdoing himself and jumping from Problematic Fave to Problem while we were writing this!

Problematic Faves
Prince - June 7th
tumblr_n7fld73Qbb1qzqoygo1_500d2791.gif
An ever changing aesthetic with a iconic sound, Prince delivered on his Gemini creativity, and sometimes, the Gemini big mouth too! He lands on our problematic-fave lists, because despite the legendary jams, he’s definitely been on record as homophobic, a [somewhat] devout Jehovah’s Witness, and overall judgemental snob. Still, he was gone too soon.

Marilyn Monroe - June 1st
tumblr_nn2tgtd1Gj1qd92m4o1_50012bb8.gif
Talk about a tale of two faces! On screen, she radiated and shined, but behind the scenes, she was an anxiety-ridden vixen, known for her bouts of stage fright and tumultuous love affairs. While history remembers her as a timeless sex symbol and rising-star who died too soon; the suspicious circumstances around her death and the alleged love affairs with high-profile people of power have always left us wondering about the tragic mystery of Norma Jean.

Amy Schumer - June 1st
tumblr_nsbm4yjXc41qb6v6ro1_400077ca.gif
One of the many traits of Gemini’s is to be able to make light of serious issues with a little snarky satire and ironic punchlines, which Amy can do in spades! However, like many Gemini’s, she has boundary issues; once you get a couple laughs, you keep pushing the line until you cross over from funny to stfu.

Ice Cube - June 15th
tumblr_nt7kyncT2D1rdutw3o1_400979dc.gif
Being able to change your image rather effortlessly is a special Gemini talent, once that Ice Cube has tapped into-- going from a hard rapper, to a stoner comedy king, to dipping into family friendly movies. However, his associations, particularly in his music career, are questionable, as is his involvement with shady shit that happened on the rap scene in the 90’s.

Kanye West - June 8th
tumblr_nuv60mDWgD1tu0k68o1_500711db.gif
A fave pastime of Gemini’s is to talk endlessly with little knowledge and no real point. This is something that Kanye gets the trophy for as most of his interviews end up in some type of endless thought stream that will often include touches of misogyny, pleas for acceptance, rhetorical questioning, separation from reality, but also, a hint of an actual credible thought.

Naomi Campbell - May 22nd
tumblr_n1vs8w3X081rfpp1do1_500ac6a7.gif
Naomi slays us with her no bullshit attitude and amazing supermodel skills, but we also know she’s a class A bitch who isn’t afraid to hurt you for crossing her. Still though, she’s maintained high profile connections and friendships over the years, so she can’t be all bad all the time, right? It just depends which twin you run up on that day.

TuPac - June 16th & Biggie - May 21st
giphy43b1a.gif
You may say these two are the East Coast/West coast twins of the 90’s rap scenes. Both are know for the release of iconic music that has stood the test of time decades after their deaths and set the bar for a genre that still fights for respect. However, the notorious feuding and gang involvement which ended both rappers lives will forever keep their place in our hearts a problem.

Plain Ol Problems

Donald Trump - June 14th
x580wh00605.gif
This business mogul, turned reality TV show star, turned disastrous Republican presidential nominee is the epitome of everything we can’t stand in solar Gemini’s-- narcissistic, two-faced, flip-floppy, candid to a fault, exaggerates his success and freaks everyone out with excessive hyperbole that doesn’t really go anywhere. Yet, he still thinks everyone should love and adore him because he’s such a nice, funny, charming guy, right?

Clint Eastwood - May 31st
tumblr_npcypthdqv1tq4of6o1_500cf60b.gif
Republican Party member and chair talker Clint Eastwood was once a hot young actor. Sadly, this Gemini is now past his glory days and enjoys spending his time creating American Imperialist propaganda films.

Mark Wahlberg - June 5th
tumblr_m5tyidR5aG1qd7m1so1_50045729.gif
Marky-Mark has had an extensive career that, in true Gemini fashion, put his fingers in a lot of pies. Whether it’s modeling in his underwear, his Vanilla-Ice-esque music career, a variety of movie roles, television cameo’s, and producing, he has become a known figure in entertainment. Too bad he’s not more known for his dickheadedness which landed him in prison as a young man after brutally assaulting a man. He seems to have turned things around-- that is, until he opens his mouth.

Iggy Azalea - June 7th & Azalea Banks - May 31st
tumblr_ngsuak3Mx11r8jjn6o6_25028a93.gif
Most Gemini’s think they’re being clever when they talk shit, but these two take it to the next level. Ever since their lives took a big ole belly-flop, both have resorted to social media to address critics and while you can tell that they think they’re so smart and revolutionary, like a lot of Gemini’s, their self-centric viewpoints and overall shallowness have them constantly and consistently missing the point. The best part, at least for the rest of us, is when they start going in on each other. Gemini is the sign of the twins and these two might as well Twin-Up in messiness.

Farrah Abraham - May 31st
tumblr_nz07rbLOdG1s55rl4o1_500bbfa6.gif
Starving for attention? Willing to do anything for it? Trying to make bad life choices look like good business prowess and social progressivism? Must be a messy Gemini! Ever since her debut on Teen Mom, we’ve known something wasn’t quite right with Farrah, but after her several failed attempts at fame; which include a horrible song, a shitty book, an allegedly “leaked sex tape” that she shot with a porn star, some type of venture into frozen yogurt and dildo’s-- Now only one thing is certain, she definitely feeds into her Gemini Sun’s delusions of reality.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck - May 28th
tumblr_m486asOTiD1ru09vqo1_500f8a49.gif
We all know those high and mighty Gemini’s who think they’re the smartest and have no problem spouting out their opinions like they’re gold. However, the downside can be that Gemini, the messenger, tends to repeat information they hear without having too much of an actual understanding of the issue at hand. Her ability to combine attention-seeking with convincingly spewing bullshit is probably what landed Elisabeth her talking head position on FOX, after several demoralizing years on The View where she was the token conservative that everyone got to disagree with.

Johnny Depp - June 9th
tumblr_nj7kpyi5Zd1u302mqo1_25049de4.gif
He’s managed to harness his mercurial Gemini nature into a successful career where he’s used the many Gemini faces to play a wide array of characters and become a beloved Hollywood figure. There’s a dark twin under the surface though; one that struggles with addiction issues, has a violent temper, and can rot in hell for being an abusive hothead who tried to use a malicious PR campaign (Gemini IS the messenger after all) to smear his victim-- until it backfired, because even the most cunning messengers can get shot down.

Please give a big thank you to this month's writer, gemini and ONTD astrology pioneer calinewarkwc69. Thanks for your patience! That's right, we're starting with the problems this time. Stay tuned this week for the faves!

These are the future queens of pop

Move over, Rebecca Black! It's been almost five years since Rebecca released her iconic hit "Friday," which is an eternity in the pop world. Her lack of activity in the music industry has not gone unnoticed, though. Since abdicating her throne, multiple challengers have appeared, gunning for that pop queen throne. Here are the (potential) future queens of pop who are ready to slay and claim the throne!

Jordyn Jones

Jordyn Jones achieved massive success last year with the release of her debut single "Dappin," which is short for "dancin' and snappin'." She is the reason why Iggy Azalea's latest single "Team" flopped. Jordyn's most recent single, "Fiyacracka," cements her status as the Queen of Hip-Pop (sorry Namie Amuro).

JoJo Siwa

After ditching those flops over at Dance Moms, JoJo Siwa has released her massive smash hit "Boomerang." After two weeks, her videos already has 15 million views on YouTube. This is already way more views than established acts of yesterday, such as Britney Spears, have achieved with their latest YouTube videos.

Mack Z

Mackenzie Ziegler's massive dance hit "I Gotta Dance" got the remix treatment recently, with gay club remixer Dave Audé reinterpreting her single. His remix elevated her song to certified bop status. Mack Z is already shaping up to be a club queen.

Haschak Sisters

Family bands are always huge hits, and there is no bigger family band out there right now than the Haschak Sisters. Their feminist anthem "Girls Rule The World" has already achieved 8 million views on YouTube since getting released three weeks ago.

Nia Sioux

Nia Sioux is ready to slay, and this is made evident by the fact that her latest single is called "Slay." The music video for the song features potential future pop queen JoJo Siwa. Nia Sioux is probably the only pop queen on this list with actual vocal talent.

Kendall K

Kendall K's propaganda bop "Wear Em Out" is heavily inspired by Beyoncé's Major Lazer-produced track "Run The World (Girls)." Kendall's music video is an homage to Mariah Carey's "I Still Believe" music video.

Sophia Grace

Last year, Sophia Grace released her massive bop "Best Friends." After a year, the video has almost 50 million YouTube views, and almost 400K likes. This is probably the best song on this entire list, and Sophia Grace is a triple-threat (singer, rapper, fashion designer).

Jenna Rose

Jenna Rose is most well known for her viral hits "My Jeans" and "O.M.G." She has consistently been releasing music and performing live since her initial success. Her most recent music video is a cover of Meghan Trainor's global hit "No."
