ONTD Original: The Most Drama-Filled Wrestling Matches

$
0
0

ONTD runs on drama, drama between celebrities, drama between random ass people on the street, drama between dogs. I've mentioned it before but I feel like ONTD could really get into the oil covered, angry, drama-filled world of Pro-Wrestling.

So what I thought I'd do is provide a list of the most dramatic, gossip-worthy, nasty and overall ONTD like storylines in pro-wrestling history.

All of these matches, stories and events are available to watch on WWE Network, a streaming service that has a free first month that becomes $9.99 a month.

Johnny Gargano Vs. Tommaso Ciampa at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans 2018

Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa were best friends and members of the tag team #DIY. They performed as a singular unit in matches, winning match of the year in 2016 and the tag team championship that same year.

Johnny Gargano (aka Johnny Wrestling) was beloved by the crowd, adored by fans and was clearly seen as someone who could shoot to the top and win the gold by himself. After losing the titles and then a chance to regain them Ciampa turned on Johnny and told him to get on by himself.

So Johnny did, he went on to have a stellar year that ended with an incrdible match against 'Cien' Almas but just failed to win.

As he stood on the ramp, cheers and appaulse erupting from the crowd, Ciampa cam from behind and smashed him in the back with a crutch. Beating him down in front of his screaming wife.

The stage was set at Takeover: New Orleans. Amn unsanctioned match that the company made the men sign waivers for. No refs, no rules, nothing held back. These men beat each other, bled, fought and screamed to the best match of 2018 so far.

CM Punk Vs. John Cena at Money in the Bank 2011

CM Punk ran a warpath through WWE in 2011. He knew what he wanted, knew his worth and skill and didn't give a fuck about his boss's thoughts. He wanted more time, more money, more merchandise. He's the most popular person in the company, why shouldn't he?

John Cena was the happy go lucky face of the company. He sold Fruity Pebbles, anti-bullying campaigns, Scooby Doo movies and other kid friendly things. The boss needed him to keep being champ, he NEEDED him to be the face of the company again, not someone who had no respect like Punk.

That leads to Money in the Bank 2011. Punk's contract was up and if he won he made it clear he was leaving the company with the belt in a 'fuck you' to the boss and everyone else there. Cena needed to win to keep the boss happy.

Shawn Michaels Vs. Hulk Hogan at Summerslam 2005

This is all about the behind the scenes drama. Hulk Hogan is a fucking asshole. Not only is he racist and a giant douchebag but he's hated by nearly everyone he's ever worked with in the business. He's the kiss-up politicing dickhead in every single office job combined into one big hot dog colored mess.

Shawn Michaels is one of, if not the, greatest performers in the history of pro-wrestling. Now he's a big of a shithead too, but as he's aged and grown he's apologized and grown past his dickhead ways.

What happens when these two are put in a match together?

Hogan was meant to win this match and then lose another to Shawn. Two weeks prior he put the kibosh on that and was only willing to have one match, one he wins. So Shawn decided to say 'fuck it'.

The entire match Shawn made Hogan look like a dickhead. He treated every punch like he was hit with a nuclear bomb, he flopped around the ring like an idiot for every single move. He made Hogan look like a joke in front of thousands of people because Hogan's a prick.

Charmed 2018 roundup + ONTD Original: Charmed...AGAIN! Then vs. Now

$

-Mark Pedowitz, the head honcho of TheCW just wants people to give the new Charmed a chance!

-There are many similarities and differences between the two shows.

-The actresses are now open to meeting with the OG Charmed Ones and having their input and maybe even having them on the show!

As we know the trailer for the new Charmed dropped TODAY! and since I was a fan of the OG (mainly S1-4) it already made me compare it to the original pilot. So to start things off:
Charmed 1998 Trailer

Charmed 2018 trailer:

The Book of Shadows
Charmed Then:
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Phoebe discovers the Book of Shadows in the attic and reads a spell that activates her and her sisters powers. Phoebe studies the book and informs her sisters that they are witches known as The Charmed Ones.
Charmed Now:
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
It appears that the death of the Vera sisters mother activates their powers automatically and their Whitelighter brings them the Book of Shadows, informing them that they are witches known as The Charmed Ones.

The Powers of Charmed
The Eldest Sister
Charmed Then:
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Prue’s powers first activate when she is annoyed. She uses them for the first time at work inadvertently on her boss, something that she doesn’t notice. Her first time noticing her powers is sitting at the bar of a restaurant with Phoebe and getting annoyed that Phoebe insists that she is a witch.
Charmed Now:
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
It appears that Macy’s first encounter and notice of her powers may come when she is sitting at bar of a restaurant with a co-worker. No longer does her “sister” upset her which activates her powers….instead a conversation with her co-worker over connecting with her newfound sisters activates her power.
The Middle Sister
Charmed Then:
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Piper discovers her powers at Quake while trying out new dishes. Her boss attempting to taste an unfinished dish causes her to panic and accidentally freeze him with her hands.
Charmed Now:
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Mel is sitting in a restaurant with her (girl)friend discussing the craziness of discovering she has a long lost sister. She freezes the room out of nowhere with her mind.
The Youngest Sister
Charmed Then:
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Phoebe is riding down the street and has her very first premonition.
Charmed Now:
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Maggie is at her sorority house and when coming into contact with various sorority sisters causes her to hear their thoughts.

Mommy dearest
Charmed Then:

</b>The Halliwell sisters lose their mother while they are still children with Phoebe still a baby.

Charmed Now:The Vera sisters lose their mother as adults, having lived a very happy life with Macy having been disconnected from her mother as a child for unknown reasons.

The Manor
Charmed Then:

Charmed Now:

The Charmed Ones
Charmed Then vs Now
Image and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPic
It appears that the new sisters will do their major vanquish in some lab? Compared to the original sisters doing their first vanquish together in the attic of their manor, where it all started.

Image and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPic
It appears that both versions will have the sisters happily walking up to their Manors finally bonded once again. Both started out broken. Prue/Phoebe having their differences while Maggie/Mel have their differences with Macy.

Stray Observations
-In the 1998 series, the sisters do not start off with their Whitelighter. It takes 14 episodes before they even find out what a Whitelighter is and Leo doesn't start working with the sisters full time until Season 2. In the 2018 series it appears that the sisters gain their Whitelighter right off the bat. He gives them the 411 on what they are, who they are, and most likely who to save on a week2week basis.

-In the 1998 series, it is Prue, the eldest sister who is involved with a cop. In the 2018 series, it is Mel, the middle sister who is involved with a cop. Both characters though are the ones who deal with their anger.

-In the 1998 series all the sisters are out of college with Phoebe deciding to return to college in the shows second season. In the 2018 series Maggie is currently in college and seemingly living on campus, having gone straight after graduating high school.

-The biggest difference between the two series is the missing of Grams. In the 1998 series she was very fundamental in the sisters upbringing and a big influence in the overall familys heritage. In the 2018 series it appears that the new sisters Grandmother will be of less importance due to their mother raising them to adulthood.

By introducing researchers from diverse backgrounds for the first time, then dropping them into new, immersive field work they previously hadn’t tackled, the film reveals the true potential of interdisciplinary collaboration, pushing the boundaries of how science storytelling is approached. What emerges is a deeply human trip to the foundations of discovery and a powerful reminder that the unanswered questions are the most crucial ones to pose.
What you should know: The film was made possible by a grant from Science Sandbox, a Simons Foundation initiative dedicated to engaging everyone with the process of science.

Seen anything good lately, ONTD? What are you seeing this weekend?

13 Facts Facts about Camilla Parker-Bowlest You May Not Have Known

$
0
0
1) The press really likes her. She's apparently the easiest and most pleasant person for the royals reporters to cover and once yelled at a reporter from The Times because he'd spoiled Downton Abbey for her. She's known for laughing about unflattering photos of her.

2) Camilla kept her own house after getting together with Charles so she could have a place to hang out with friends, chain-smoke, be as messy a person as she wanted to be, and not follow royal protocol.

aceb4b74f517673decbcb694493596cf

3) Camilla and Charles entered into a relationship when they were in their early twenties (23 and 22 respectively). Camilla was never considered a potential bride, however, because she had several boyfriends before him and was not a virgin. The scandal!

4) It ran in the family: Camilla's ancestor Alice Keppel actually had an affair with King Edward VII. She reportedly flirted with Charles by saying, "My great grandmother and your great-great-grandfather were lovers. So how about it?"

gallery-1494528028-gettyimages-52180048

5) The relationship paused when Charles entered the Royal Navy in 1971. Two years later, Camilla married Andrew Parker-Bowles. The two were actually in no hurry to marry until Camilla's father published an engagement notice in The Times for them. His hand forced, Andrew actually proposed to Camilla.

Charles dated a string of women in the 70s and was hounded by the press, but no woman stayed long at this side. By the end of the decade, Charles and Camilla were back together. The Queen was furious ("I will not have that woman near me"), but Prince Philippe thought it was perfectly fine for Charles to have a mistress, so long as she stayed in the background.

6) Lord Mountbatten dissuaded Charles from continuing his affair with Camilla and tried to steer him in the direction of his granddaughter, Amanda Knaxbull (Charles' cousin). In the end Charles proposed to her, but she turned him down.

diana_engagement

7) Neither Charles nor Diana wanted to through with the marriage, and it was a disaster from day one. Charles misread a letter from his father as commanding him to marry Diana, when really Philip was telling him that if had to let her go if he didn't want to marry her. Charles was also adrift because Dickie Mountbatten - more of a father figure to him than his actual father - had just died at the hands of the IRA. No one thought this wedding was a good idea, including the bride and groom, and the Archbishop of Canterbury, and yet it still happened.

8) Five years after marrying Diana, Charles rekindled his romance with Camilla. Both were still married at that point.

9) The Queen was livid Charles had an affair and banned Camilla from entering the palace.

10) In 1989, Charles' phone was hacked and the Sunday Mirror actually set up a hotline so that people could call in and hear the tapes for themselves.

Charles: "Oh god. I'll just live inside your trousers or something. It would be much easier!"
Camilla: (Laughs.) "What are you going to turn into, a pair of knickers?" (Both laugh). "Oh, you're going to come back as a pair of knickers."
Charles: "Or, God forbid, a Tampax. Just my luck!" (Laughs.)
Camilla: "You are a complete idiot!" (Laughs.) "Oh, what a wonderful idea!"

11) Camilla only met the Queen in 2000 - thirty years after she first got involved with Charles. In 2005, the Queen gave her blessing for them to marry. "They have come through and I'm very proud and wish them well. My son is home and dry with the woman he loves."

12) Charles and Camilla were friends with Joan Rivers, who once opened a dinner she threw for them by referencing "you lucky bitches who married well."

13) Sometimes Camilla wears wigs to make her giant tiaras more comfortable.

ONTD Original: Ten Celebrity Endorsements that were certainly...a choice

$

Selling out is bound to happen in a celebrities career at some point. The question is, just how far will celebs go to make extra coins to maintain their lavish lifestyles while trying to maintain their dignity? 🤔 Sometimes they lose it long before ~in the Hollywood Hills — but a lot of times they lose it in the public's eye after an endorsement (but let's be real, most of the general public will laugh and then simply move on). As long as the check is cut, cashed, and in the bank several celebs simply don't care. Now I'm well aware that there are several out there but I had to narrow it down to ten here for time and sanity. So keep that in mind and let's take a look at a few celebrity endorsements that made us cringe, sometimes laugh, and were...a choice.

Mary J. Blige — “Burger King's Chicken Wraps”

Ok, let's get this one out of the way because I know people will bring it up in the comments asking where's Mary at? But let me make one thing clear, we're keeping the hateration, holleration in this dancerie to a minimum. You will respect Auntie Mary. She isn't just some OSCAR© Attendee, but she is a goddamn two-time OSCAR© Nominee. And that is something you will acknowledge and respect. Yes, we get it, fast food is gross, you only eat farm to table, drink lemon water, and people who recline their airplane seat in front of you suck etc. But don't look down at those who are occasionally rolling through the BK drive-thru in their Lyft or Uber drunk as hell looking for sustenance to get through and sober up. It happens. Maybe that's why the good sis Mary decided to do this, she's been there. Perhaps she had to fund some recording sessions or music videos, she has a mortgage! Cut Auntie Mary some slack. BK on the other hand, well, they should have known better.

Tori Kelly — “Nationwide Insurance”

The good sis Tori Kelly (Victoria Loren Kelly) is fairly new to the pop game. The singer auditioned for season 9 of American Idol in 2010 and made it through before being eliminated during Hollywood Week. But that didn't phase her, in 2013 she signed with Capitol Records and released her debut Unbreakable Smile peaking at no. 2 on the Billboard 200 Chart. Despite the success with her debut, the good sis still has bills to pay! Nationwide is on her side in this advert for the insurance company.

Snoop Dogg — “Hot Pockets®”

Snoop Dogg decided to sell out back in 2012 and re-recorded his 2004 hit with Pharrell Williams, Drop it Like It's Hot into Pocket Like It's Hot for Hot Pockets®. I mean, at least go for the slightly more health concious Lean Pockets® Snoop! Yes, I'm aware they are the same company. But I digress...the man has a lot of weed to buy so this was probably his best bet to getting high af and then throwing back some free Hot Pockets during those midnight munchies.

Lady Gaga — “Polaroid”

Throughout Lady Gaga's career, the good sis has tried to blur the lines between music, art, fashion, and product. This ambition landed her the role of Creative Director of Specialty Products at Polaroid back in 2011. The result? A failed Grey Line GL20 Sunglass Camera. The sunglasses featured a camera that could take pictures and were stored in a USB in the earpiece. The product was never released and Polaroid and Lady Gaga parted ways in 2014.

Migos — “Rap Snacks: SC with a dab of Ranch Chips”

I mean, do I have to say anything? Just read this hot fire:

Quavo!
Money like bags of chips
Hunnits of bags I flip
Finger-licking with the ranch
Leaving crumbs on your lips
Truckload backin' up (beep)
New shipment, gotta stack 'em up (Takeoff)
Bag look magical
Mmm, mmm, mmm, good they smackable
Number one record, the chip breaking record so add it up
Trappin' 'em out the gas stations
Customers, customers lined up
I heard that you hungry and you make your mind up
Don't grab a Snickers and go get a bag of 'em
Bag of what? Dab of Ranch
What's with the ranch? Just a lil' dab

Cristiano Ronaldo — “Facial Fitness Pao”

We're not exactly sure what led Cristiano Ronaldo to do this. But are we honestly surprised? The Portuguese professional footballer teamed up with a Japanese brand for the Facial Fitness Pao, a device that basically looks like a mouthguard with propellers meant to strengthen your facial muscles. And it looks as ridiculous as you would imagine. Get ¥‎ bitch, I guess.

Kim Kardashian — “Flat Tummy Co's appetite suppressant lollipops”

The list of things the Kardashians aren't willing to endorse is...short to say the least. Case in point, Flat Tummy Co's “appetite suppressant lollipops” which Kim K just recently went under fire for promoting them in an Instagram post. The image promoting the lollipop remains up but she has since deleted the original text and replaced it with a simple 🍭 emoji.

The original post read, “You guys… @flattummyco just dropped a new product. They’re Appetite Suppressant Lollipops and they’re literally unreal. They’re giving the first 500 people on their website 15% OFF so if you want to get your hands on some… you need to do it quick! #suckit

Brad Pitt — “Pringles® Chips”

To be fair, it was 1989 and Brad Pitt was still fairly unknown early on in his career when he decided to pay the rent by poppin' a can of Pringles for the camera. This was a young Brad Pitt during his catch me, I'm fucken swooning days. I mean, it was BeFour he even shot Thelma & Louise and way before he left the good sis Jen for Angelina. The two separated just last year after 12 years of marriage. Welp, have another can of Pringles Brad.

Lisa Rinna — “Depend® Silhouette for Women”

I mean, props to Lisa for going for it and not caring here. In the commercial, the American actress and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star is attending a red carpet event when an interviewer for Depend® asks her if she would wear their new Depend® Silhouette for Women to show how discreet and sleek it is. She's a bit stunned at first, asking “are you serious?” She then looks to her husband before finally saying “sure, why not!” I hope you were paid upfront and handsomely, Lisa!

That was...a Choice Rating:

Ashton Kutcher — “Popchips”

Back in 2012, we're not exactly sure why or how Ashton Kutcher or anyone at Popchips thought this was even appropriate. Not only was this a choice, it was racist one. When will white folk ever learn? The backlash was immediate leading the potato chip company to delete the clip that featured the actor in brown-face makeup, pretending to be a Bollywood producer named Raj. While the company did apologize for the offensive ad, Kutcher never did.

Ten Male Celebs Speaking Up for Women (ONTD Original)

TERRY CREWS

"I kind of relate [women's rights] to civil rights — the people who were silent when it was the black lunch counter and the white one or the schools were segregated...and you were quiet. You were accepting it. Same thing with men right now. If you don't say anything, you are, by your silence—it's acceptance. I'm not going to be silent."

"Coming up in the sports culture, I saw it was nothing for guys to say things like, 'Oh, you know she wanted it.' I knew guys who had the attitude of, 'You know you shouldn’t have walked out the door looking like that, girl,' thinking they had the right to feel on her or to rape her, because of what she was wearing.

Once I realized that I was part of that culture, I knew that I had to change it. This is the truth—thinking is the hardest thing you can ever do. For example, 50 Shades of Grey—can you just think about what it’s saying? Every art form has a message, and the message I’m getting from 50 Shades is that it’s OK to dominate and control women. And not only is it OK, it’s sexy. And even worse, deep inside, she wants it. That’s the most dangerous mind-set you can have."

MARK RUFFALO

"When I heard the story [of my mother's illegal abortion], I was aghast by the lowliness of a society that would make a woman do that. I could not understand its lack of humanity; today is no different. What happened to my mother was a relic of an America that was not free nor equal nor very kind.

My mother's illegal abortion marked a time in America that we have worked long and hard to leave behind. It was a time when women were seen as second rate citizens who were not smart enough nor responsible enough nor capable enough to make decisions about their lives. It was a time that deserved to be left behind."

Ruffalo has joined demonstrations for abortion rights and filmed a video for the 41st anniversary of Roe vs. Wade in 2014 about the need to keep abortion legal.

SIR PATRICK STEWART

"As a child I witnessed [my father's] repeated violence against my mother, and the terror and misery he caused was such that, if I felt I could have succeeded, I would have killed him. If my mother had attempted it, I would have held him down.

I heard police or ambulance men, standing in our house, say, "She must have provoked him," or "Mrs. Stewart, it takes two to make a fight." Wrong. Wrong. My mother did nothing to provoke him and even if she had, violence is a choice a man makes and he alone is responsible for it."

Today, Stewart gives speeches and fundraises for Amnesty International's Violence Against Women campaign. "I do what I do in my mother's name, because I couldn't help her then. Now I can."

EDDIE VEDDER

In 1992, the Pearl Jam frontman wrote "PRO CHOICE" on his arm during a live MTV Unplugged Performance. The same year, he wrote an article for Spin magazine about why abortion needs to remain legal. He and Pearl Jam performed at the 'Rock for Choice' concert in 1994 and continue to raise millions for abortion rights through concert performances benefiting the cause.

ALAN ALDA

Alda campaigned tirelessly (though unsuccessfully) to get the Equal Rights Amendment passed in the '70s and '80s and has written articles about the need for men to support women's equality in Ms. magazine.

FOREST WHITAKER

Whitaker's foundation, the Whitaker Peace and Development Initiative, aims to advance peace in the world. As part of that effort, they give training in conflict resolution and community building in South Sudan and Uganda to former child soldiers and to boys and girls who have been rescued after being abducted by rebel forces.

He recently talked about the need for more strong female characters in film and praised the women in his movie Black Panther: “What’s powerful about it is that there are different types of powerful women. Danai and what she did with that role (Okoye), she embodies strategy and physical power. Angela has this powerful, motherly role, but she’s not just his mother, she’s an adviser. Letitia’s character, Shuri, directly combats this myth that women don’t excel at science, math and tech, and I think her being the most brilliant person in the movie, and the youngest, makes a statement. Even with Lupita (Nakia) being a spy, you see this confident warrior, but you also see a loving, sensitive side as well. There’s just so many different depictions of female power, and I think that’s very unusual.”

EZRA MILLER

Miller attended the 'One Billion Rising' rally in New York in 2013 and spoke to reporters about the need to end rape culture and violence against women.

JOHN LEGEND

Legend partners with the men's grooming company AXE to advocate for gender equality and help break the cycle of what he calls "toxic masculinity" by mentoring high school students near his Ohio hometown. "[The idea behind the campaign] is thinking and living beyond the restraints of what it means to be a man. Young people are just trying to figure out who they are."

ANDY SAMBERG

Samberg has repeatedly defended female comedians from criticism by other male comics (like Jerry Lewis and Adam Carolla) who claim that women just aren't funny
. When he wore a "National Organization for Women" t-shirt onstage at a SPIKE TV event 11 years ago, some thought he might be ribbing women, but he later stated that he is a "totally sincere" feminist and was actually taking a jab at the network's male-centric profile.

DAVID SCHWIMMER

Well before the Harvey Weinstein scandal and the Time's Up movement, Schwimmer joined with Israeli-American filmmaker Sigal Avin to create six short online videos starring celebrities like Emmy Rossum, Cynthia Nixon, Bobby Cannavale, Noah Emmerich and Schwimmer himself acting out real instances of sexual harassment, in order to bring awareness to the problems women face every day.

Schwimmer was recently praised for his "sensitivity" by a female film critic who noted that when she had interviewed him years ago and the hotel restaurant they were in was too noisy for them to hear each other, he offered to finish the interview upstairs in his hotel room - but quickly assured her that he would have a third person present so that she would know she was safe.

Get those library holds ready! Here are 15 upcoming June book releases from a variety of genres. Hopefully at least one will pique your interest! All books were chosen from the Top 200 Most Popular Books for June 2018 on Goodreads. To help me narrow down to 15, I excluded any books from a series, unless it was the first book. I also focused on books that have a current high rating (I believe every book listed is rated over 3.5), and tried to avoid books that I've previously put in book posts. Almost all of the authors are women.

ONTD Original: Ten of the Worst K-Pop Debut Songs (Groups).

$
0
0
Girl's Day - Tilting My Head

Girl's Day hit the scene in 2010 with Tilting My Head, argubly one of the worst K-Pop debuts ever. Sojin has commented on how embarassing the song was to her at the time. Why was it so embarassing? The neon drenched, overly comical fashion is an assualt on the eyes. The jarring autotune does nothing to showcase the girl's vocals. If you forgot that this was Girl's Day's debut, no one could blame you.

Song you should listen to instead:Something

4Minute - Hot Issue

Hyuna & The Girls came out in 2009 with Hot Issue, another song that assaults you with autotune and bad fashion. The overly cutesy song is catchy enough sure, but once again does nothing to showcase their talent past Hyuna. Early on Cube Entertainment had Jiyoon hide behind a pair of large sunglasses to increase mystique~ Will she take them off? Will she keep them on? (spoiler she takes them off in their next music video).

Song you should listen to instead:Volume Up

Rainbow - Gossip Girl

Bad fashion and abuse of autotune was really rampant during the late 00s and early 10s. Kara's little sister group debuted in 2009 with Gossip Girl. The group had seven members, with stage names representing all seven colors in the rainbow (creative!). Hyunyoung and Seungah's vocals were able to breakthrough, and the song's chorus is pretty catchy. You might even find yourself mouthing along to it in a week. Still, catchy doesn't make up for how lackluster this debut song was.

Song you should listen to instead:Whoo

Stellar - Rocket Girl

Top Class Entertainment spent a lot of money on the music video when they should've invested in a better song. Right from the get go, cringey sing-talk attacks your ears. The song has no direction, the chorus almost sounding like a completely different song. Eric (Shinhwa) stars as the love interest? sorta? and drops in an unnecassary rap break. The song is a mess.

Song you should listen to instead:Crying

9Muses - No Playboy

JYP did them dirty with this song. With Star Empire touting early on that JYP was behind their debut track, people had high expectations. What they got was a snooze. While Sera and Jaekyung's vocals make up for a lot, the song is simply bland. Despite the girls hard work (watch their documentary on youtube!), nothing could make up for dull choreography and a bad song.

Song you should listen to instead: Literally any other song besides this one (Glue, Dolls, Figaro, Gun, etc).

F.cuz - Jiggy

The colorful kneepads were a choice. Especially paired with the fluffy white vests. The second version of the MV (yes, there were two) isn't much better. F.Cuz (pronounced as "focus") burst out onto the scene with this colorful pop song. Boy groups weren't immune to the overuse of autotune trend back in 2010. The song is pretty catchy but the lyrics, autotune and the bad fashion choices prevented it from being a hit. Neither debut MV is uploaded to their offical Youtube channel.

Song you should listen to instead: If you must- Midnight Sun

ZE:A - Mazeltov

I don't even know where to start with this one. The lyrics? ("Latin girl, Mexican girl, Korean girl, Japan girl"). The outfits? The autotune? The overly dark music video where you can barely see their faces? Nothing seems to go together. What was Star Empire thinking when they had ZE:A debut in 2010 with this? This was just a laughably bad debut all around.

Song you should listen to instead:Breathe

B2ST/BEAST/Highlight - Bad Girl

Once again, bad autotune (why even have Hyunseung hit a high note if it's going to be covered in autotune?). Bad fashion (what the hell is Kikwang wearing? and the hand on Yoseob's hat...) The song is cute and relatively catchy with it's chorus but there was a reason why MBLAQ was a smidge more popular back when the two went head-to-head in 2009. Although B2ST/BEAST/Highlight did end up winning in the end.

Song you should listen to instead:

Block B - Freeze/Don't Move

Cho PD (of constantly bad mouthing Exo fame) put forth this boy group in 2011. Freeze/Don't Move was quickly banned for sexy lyrics. Thus saving some kids from a boring song and a music video that features a whole lot of standing around cars (and not much else).

Song to listen to instead: n/a

Pentagon - Gorilla

A song equating your attraction towards a girl to that of a male gorilla beating its chest is the way to start your career. The gorilla like choreography really ties it all together and standing around in a vine covered cage invokes powerful imagery (this is sarcasm). Cube has had a bad run of debut songs (see B2ST and 4Minute, above). Pentagon is new to the scene, debuting in 2016 but Gorilla has already found a spot as one of the worst K-Pop debuts. Not even Hui and Jinho's vocals could save it.

Song to listen to instead: Shine

Which group had a really bad debut song?

ONTD Original: Reylo—Yay or Nay?

Let's take a look at the controversial Star Wars ship Rey/Kylo Ren, better known as Reylo. The portmanteau ignites strong feelings in lovers and haters alike. It's one of the most talked-about ships on Tumblr and has made more than a few appearances in mainstream media outlets, too. Each side uses the films, novelizations, creator and cast comments, and more as evidence that theirs is the right interpretation of the pair's dynamic, causing serious discourse to overshadow the lighter side of fandom. Which side are you on?

lightsaber-1980163_960_720.png

Yays say...
Rey and Kylo Ren are connected whether you like it or not.

Fans of the star-crossed lovers point to the couple's undeniably intertwined destinies, which includes their canonical force-bond, a powerful link between their minds that allows them to speak and even touch across galaxies. While Snoke claims to have bridged their minds, he does have reason to lie in that moment; plus, if he had that kind of power, how could he fail to anticipate Kylo's eventual betrayal?

It's possible that the force itself created the bond—or that it occurred naturally and inevitably—to bring these two powerful people into necessary balance. Whatever the cause, Rey and Kylo Ren share something no one else does.

They are drawn to each other.
Both Kylo Ren and Rey are visibly intrigued by the other and have taken steps to be in one another's presence. For example, once Kylo Ren realizes that Rey has the information he needs, he opts to take her with him rather than extract the information onsite. For Rey's part, she not only leaves Luke behind in favor of his nephew but also ships herself right to the future Supreme Leader's doorstep.

The symbolism! The literary parallels!
Long-graduated liberal arts students have written many a treatise on the symbolism in The Last Jedi and how it reveals the inevitable love story between Kylo Ren and Rey. These essays cover everything, including visual and personality yin/yang, growing similarities in their fighting styles, strategic red/blue/purple lighting, Freudian imagery, Death and the Maiden imagery, raptus, and even the idea that their final battle in the throne room represented sexual release.

Others draw parallels from Kylo Ren and Rey's relationship to those in classic literature such as Pride and Prejudice or Jane Eyre.

Kylo Ren kills Snoke for Rey.
When Snoke tells his apprentice that he will face a test with his father, Kylo Ren assures him that his loyalty is unwavering; indeed, he murders Han the first chance he gets without much hesitation. However, when Snoke commands Kylo Ren to do the same to Rey, he not only hesitates—he takes the moment to turn the blade on Snoke instead.

Kylo Ren was a victim of abuse himself.
Proponents of #SaveBenSolo believe that the villain's true self is fearful and lonely and that his acting out is a result of hurt inflicted by others in his life, namely Han, Leia, Luke, and Snoke. This theory puts classic characters in a bad light: Han is an absent father, Leia a neglectful mother, and Luke a mentor who unfairly judges the pupil he is meant to guide. It also suggests that Snoke manipulated Kylo Ren from a young age, steeping him in the dark side and encouraging bitter anger to brew, drowning out the goodness at his core.

He can be redeemed (and he deserves it).
Kylo had moments of conflict and regret that suggest he will ultimately choose a path that leads to redemption—or at least is not totally lost to the darkness. JJ Abrams says Kylo regrets killing his father the moment he does it. Adam Driver says The Last Jedi was an opportunity to see the humanity in Kylo and Daisy Ridley has said redemption is possible (link).

Even Rey herself holds out hope that he will see the light; after all, she is one of the only people who still call him Ben.

They already fuuuuuu-elt each other's hands.
Rey and Kylo Ren discover that they can make physical contact through the force bond. According to Rian Johnson, their intimate caress in firelight is the closest thing to sex we've seen in a Star Wars movie (link).

Rian Johnson is on our side.
He loves and relates to Kylo, likes Reylo fanart online, and says to Reylo fans, "It's all in the movie." There's no question that, whatever you think about the pair, the writer and director intended for their fates to be intertwined.

Who cares? It's fiction.
Some who see the potential for a Reylo romance enjoy the chemistry between the actors and the tension between the characters and go no deeper in their analysis than that.

Nays say...
Kylo Ren straight up sucks.
From his introduction in The Force Awakens to his final battle in The Last Jedi, Kylo Ren is a fury-driven man-child whose stunted emotional development and fragile ego cause him to lash out violently at those around him. He commands a village of innocents to be slaughtered, murders his own father in cold blood, tries to kill his uncle, does not stop his mother being blown up, and betrays his leader in order to feed his ambition and take the throne of a dictatorship. He gets chance after chance to make the right choice but consistently opts for the Dark Side and aids evildoers. Plus, he throws a tantrum whenever things don't go his way.

Toxic Masculinity Is the True Villain of Star Wars: The Last Jedi (link)

The relationship romanticizes physical, emotional, and mental abuse.
He kidnaps Rey, tortures her mentally and physically, promises to kill her to upset his uncle, tries to kill her multiple times (only thwarted by her own power), delivers her to his leader for further torture and almost certain death, and then taunts her with her parents' abandonment, her loneliness, and the deaths of her friends in an attempt to isolate and break her.

Kylo Ren and Rey might be blood relatives.
Though The Last Jedi saw Kylo revealing Rey's unremarkable parentage to audiences, he is not a particularly reliable character. Some fans theorize that it was a misdirect intended to further sever Rey's ties to her past, drawing her toward the dark side and giving her reason to join him on the throne. Why do these fans hang onto the idea of a family relationship?

Kylo and Rey seem to have equal strength. When they both reach for the lightsaber in the throne room, it's suspended equidistant between them. Could this mean they're siblings? Maybe, but it's not likely; there'd be no clear reason for Han and Leia to send their daughter away while their son trained with Luke.

Because the Force is strongest with the Skywalkers and Leia is the carrier, it's possible she had a child with someone else after she and Han parted ways, and that child inherited her family's power. A silhouette that could be Leia does appear briefly in Rey's vision in the island cave before it dissolves back into her own reflection. But Leia would undoubtedly recognize her own daughter and it would be strange of her not to acknowledge Rey in all the time they spent together, especially considering the parent-child vibe they had going on.

One last familial theory is that Rey is Luke's daughter. They bond quickly and have a similar backstory, being left on desert planets without their parents and growing into players on the galactic stage. Again, though, Luke would certainly recognize Rey as his offspring, and there's no indication he's keeping that kind of a secret from her—even when he walks in on Les Cousins Dangereux.

Shipping Rey with anyone but Finn Kylo instead of Finn is racist.
Rey and Finn were both raised in isolated, emotionally bankrupt environments (Rey abandoned by her parents, Finn as a child soldier) and inevitably bonded when they saw compassion in each other. They look out for one another, even to the point of risking their own lives, and they are regularly shown pining for the other's presence. Some think the obvious love between Rey and Finn—and the chemistry between Daisy Ridley and John Boyega—means that anyone who ships Rey with her enemy instead of the obvious romantic lead must do so because they prefer to see their heroine with a white man, no matter how poorly he treats her.

Shipping anyone with anyone is a feminist agenda.
An argument more prevalent on Reddit than Tumblr, some "fans" believe Kathleen Kennedy was pushing a feminist/leftist/PC agenda by including smart, powerful women and potential for love in the new trilogy. According to these bitter men, romance is for empty-headed ladies and sullies the sanctity of their space wars. This is not so much anti-Reylo as it is anti-Rey, period.

John Boyega is on our side.
He envisions a romantic future for Finn and Rey (link).

Jason Fry is on our side.
The author of The Last Jedi novelization spoke out on Twitter, countering claims that his version of the story supported a Finn who was obsessive and predatory. It's not clear if Fry is actively anti-Reylo, but he does not support mischaracterizing Finn (and Rose) for the sake of the ship. (link)

5 Times Mrs. Crocombe Made Us Question Victorian Recipes

Mrs. Crocombe is a rising star featured on the English Heritage Youtube channel who delivers us Victorian style recipes. She's based on an actual person who was "head cook for Lord and Lady Braybrooke at Audley End House of Gardens in the 1880s." Her calm and comforting olden day cooking videos have been iconic enough to even start a petition for her own series.

🔪

While most of her recipes are appetizing, others made make me question "why?" from the ingredients itself to presentation styles that were... creative, reminiscent to vintage recipes during the mid 20th century when housewives were trying to spruce it up for gatherings.

🍽

OP's note: This comes from an #American point of view, and I mean no offense. We love celebrating #white#culture!

👅

Here are 5 recipes from Mrs. Crocombe we can skip out on:

5. Mince Pies

I know these are traditional classics in English culture... but as an ignorant #American, I can't imagine dishing my way through a fruit cake with bits of meat in it. I imagine it'd be like Rachel Greene's trifle and Shepards pie hybrid. But as much as I would not make it myself, I'd maybe try a bit irl since it's popular.
Bizarre factor: Ox tongue

4. Apple Hedgehog

No there's no real hedgehog used. It's just stewed apples topped with icing and almond slices. These would be a nice children's activity maybe? It's actually a pretty safe dish, and an elevated way to present a fruit salad.
Bizarre factor: It just reminds me of those pointless retro-style recipes.

3. Marbled Eggs

This is another dish with emphasis on presentation. It consists of gelatinized chocolate and vanilla cream into an egg-shaped form via real egg shells.
Bizarre factor: It's just too much work to be using real eggshells for this And idk who'd want to take a bite of a thing of cream like that.

2. Ice cream

Ice cream is such a satisfying process to watch - mixing sugar and cream all in a cold chamber until it stiffens. But what she uses as flavoring... Britain is u okay? I don't know if this is normal but y'all couldn't use normal fruit or basic vanilla beans back in the day? I'm over it.
Bizarre factor: I actually love cuc*mber in other instances but I think children would be crying if they were served this for dessert.

1. Turkey

She had a nice set going on with spices, nuts, and veggies. She also deboned the whole thing so that must've taken her some time. But what did she decide to decorate it with? UhhHhhh...
Bizarre factor: It's supposed to be a COLD dish? And she's gonna serve it smothered in gelatinized M*YONNAISE? The blasphemy. Mrs. Crocombe must be trying to compete with Hottie's iconic microwaved chicken for Flavor Flav. Good luck serving those guests u speak of.

And to redeem this list with something tasty, here's a nice video of Victoria sandwiches.

Would y'all try any of these?

ONTD Original: Meghan Markle's Favorite Beauty & Fashion Picks

You were looking for ways to channel your inner Duchess? This post put together several interviews from the Duchess of Success™ where she mentions her favorite beauty and fashion picks so you can get her look and feel royal!

Cosmetics
Meghan said to Express: "I always use Touche Éclat Radiant Touch Concealer by YSL ($35) under my eyes, a Dior black eyeliner and a Nars mascara. I love Charlotte Tilbury lipstick, too – my favourite is Very Victoria ($34)."

Her former hairstylist and makeup artist Lydia F. Sellers said to Refinery29:"Every time I'd do her makeup, she'd say, 'Can we just make sure my freckles are peeking through? I don't want a ton of foundation." Sellers answered "It was more about the amount of product that went on her skin and keeping it really fresh and dewy, rather than caking it on. So I'd use the Armani Luminous Silk Foundation ($60) with a Beautyblender because it's really easy to sheer out."

She said to Allure: "My favorite mascara is Diorshow Iconic ($29,5), and then I love the Make Up For Ever HD Powder (€34)."

Other products, from her BeautyBanter interview:

1. Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler ($22)
2. Fresh Sugar Advanced Therapy Lip Treatment with SPF 15 ($26)
3. NARS Blush in Orgasm ($30)

Skin Care

Meghan said to Express: "I love Nivea Q10 Plus Skin Firming Body Lotion ($16.99). I’ve been using it since school. I also like The Renewal Oil by La Mer ($245), Oribe hairproducts and Tatcha sun creams ($65)."

She mentioned her favorite moisturizer to BeautyBanter: "Kate Somerville Quench ($75). I’ve been going to Kate’s clinic in LA for facials for years, and now that I live in Toronto for work, I still use the products to maintain that glow that her products give."

Another fave pick of hers, she told Beauty Banter, is Laura Mercier's Illuminating Primer ($38): "I don’t wear foundation unless I’m filming so this is what I put on everyday after moisturizer to give my skin a dewy glow. It’s not sparkly, it’s true to its name ... 'illuminating,'"

Skin Care Routine

She told Allure: "I play around. I love Jan Marini skin-care products. I've been using their serum lately (NB: Jan Marini C-Esta Serum costs $108). It's a nice glycolic one that makes your skin really glow-y. And I really love the Tatcha Rice Enzyme Powder ($65). It just sort of foams on your face and gives you a really subtle exfoliation. I also use Revitalash (from $70 to $100+) on my eyelashes, and I swear they are as long as they could ever be."

Hair Products

She told BeautyBanter: "There are two lines I use religiously: Kerastase (masquintense & the oleo relax line) (from €20 to €40) Wella (from $10 to $30), which has a hair oil that I am obsessed with. It smells like vacation and makes your hair slippery and touchable. I love this stuff! It also doubles as a pretty amazing body oil post bath."

Perfumes

"Fragrance is my favourite thing – so much so that if I leave the house and I don’t put any on, I’ll turn around and go back home. I alternate between a few scents. I love Oribe Côte d’Azur Eau de Parfum ($105) and both the Wild Bluebell (€53 to €106) and Wood Sage & Sea Salt Colognes by Jo Malone (€53 to €106)."

Beauty Tips

She said to BeautyBanter: "Drink lots of water, as we all know. But I also learned to add the smallest touch of shimmer to the inner corner of the eye after they’re lined. I use Chanel Cassis Eyeliner ($28) on my upper lash line and water line, and the touch of shimmer powder adds a brightness and sparkle. Even if I have no makeup on, I am likely to apply concealer and a bit of shimmer in the corners of my eye."

She said to Express: "The first is to drink a lot of water– it changes how you look. But I often forget to do it because I prefer wine! The second is to smile, because everyone looks prettier when they’re smiling. "

Travel Tip

She said to Allure: "The one thing that I cannot live without when I'm traveling is a small container of tea tree oil (between $5 and $15). It's not the most glamorous thing, but if you get a cut, a mosquito bite, a small breakout, no matter what it is, it's my little cure-all. It's inexpensive, it's small enough to carry on, and I bring it with me all the time."

Fashion Icons

From her Express interview: "Gwyneth Paltrow and I love how Claire Danes dresses, too – she makes clean choices with her silhouettes and doesn’t wear a lot of prints."

From her BeautyBanter interview: "Gwyneth Paltrow. I love how she has timeless style and looks chic and polished, but also embraces the effortless “rolled out of bed” look that all of us do on a daily basis. She just happens to do it better. Her makeup and style are spot on the direction that I want to go in."

Personal Style

She described her style in her Express interview: "It’s really classic. I don’t take a lot of fashion risks– I know what works for my body and I stick with that, and I like a really neutral colour palette."

On her favorite designers: "Ralph Lauren and Burberry are great for the clothes I wear on Suits. And I love Isabel Marant, as she has a more bohemian quality."

ONTD, what are your personal fave picks?

ONTD Original: The Genesis of Tommy Genesis

$

0

In July 2015 the half-Swedish, half-Tamil Vancouver native Tommy Genesis seemed to appear out of thin air with the release of her debut mixtape 'World Vision.' The result of her discovery by Father, owner of collective-cum-botique label Awful Records, after posting tracks to Soundcloud, 'World Vision' announced the self-proclaimed "fetish rapper" as one to watch on the underground scene. Her defiantly sexual lyrics and striking looks led to both the worlds of music and fashion taking notice - in 2016, she joined the likes of Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Justin Bieber for Calvin Klein's kaleidoscopic #mycalvins campaign, and a contract with Downtown/Interscope soon followed.

To call the trajectory of Genesis' career meteoric would be an understatement. Since 'World Vision,' she has appeared on records by Father ("2 Girl Fantasy 2") and Awful labelmate ABRA ("Big Boi") and released a pair of singles that serve to illustrate the sweet/sinister dichotomy threaded throughout her discography:"Tommy," an aggressive rap song in the tradition of Southern trap mainstays Migos, and "Lucky," a sunny, reggae-tinged track that finds Genesis at her poppiest, contemplating a relationship and arriving at a place of deeper self-love. The former made waves on hip hop radio when it was suggested that the genre's reigning queen Cardi B jacked Genesis' flow for her own "Bartier Cardi."

Hot 97's Ebro Darden asked listeners: "Did 'Bartier Cardi' borrow from 'Tommy'?"

Content and appearance aside, in the run-up to the release of her eponymous major label debut perhaps the most intriguing thing about Genesis has been the air of mystery surrounding her. A surprisingly shy interviewee (that dichotomy again), she is emphatically private. Speaking to W Magazine at New York Fashion Week in 2016, she declined to state her age for the record. When pressed, she insisted, "If I had it my way, you wouldn’t know my gender." She echoed this in a conversation with now-defunct Interview Magazine in March: "If I had it my way, you wouldn’t even know my name."

Genesis self-directed the music video for "Lucky," which marked a new direction for the self-proclaimed "fetish rapper"

In an era where social media and technology have all but eviscerated one's ability to remain anonymous, that Genesis was able to have her way in this regard at all is a testament to her thoroughness in covering her digital tracks, particularly given her on-the-record discussions of her education at Vancouver's Emily Carr University of Art and Design and involvement with bands back home. That she managed to make the transition from Soundcloud to major label an uncompromised enigma, for not months but years, is commendable. One cannot help but recall the declassification of Lana Del Rey in 2012, when the elusive chanteuse's well-but-not-well-enough hidden past as plain Jane open mic hopeful Lizzy Grant was vitriolically revealed by Hipster Runoff's Carlos "Carles" Perez.

But, as is the nature of the beast the curtain has at long last been drawn back. Earlier this month, a Wikipedia edit revealed Tommy Genesis to be the reincarnation of Genesis Mohanraj, ECUAD Class of 2012. The now blonde Tommy formerly performed as the raven-haired Genesis, her aesthetic more grunge/goth than anime sex kitten, until at least early 2013.

Mohanraj (far right) fronted "conceptual art-house" group Juice before going solo, bringing her unapologetically sexual writing to songs like "I'm Tight"

From there the skeleton becomes relatively simple to flesh out. Blog posts from early 2012 see Mohanraj performing with "conceptual art-house" outfit Juice, characterized by "sex show synth swells" suggesting "nights sipping codeine and Courvoisier cocktails in back alley art spots before heading off for one-on-one after-parties at home."The group's 'Consent Mixtape' dropped in 2012, featuring tracks whose titles - "I'm Tight,""2 Girl Fantasy" (the Father collab's apparent predecessor) - would be at home on a Tommy Genesis record, but has seemingly been scrubbed from the Internet.

From there, Mohanraj joined forces with Kelin Kardaal (also of Vancouver) for G3NESIS, a lo-fi project that again found the former spitting rapid fire rhymes over minimalistic, twinkling melodies. A year after debuting with Juice, she appeared in what seems to have been G3NESIS' sole music video: "Yes Daddy," wherein the baby-faced duo wanders VanCity and "cautions daddy not to go to bed with the babysitter." Mohanraj is soft but stone faced, seemingly rapping by rote, the Tommy Genesis persona visibly bubbling under the surface.

Mohanraj formed G3NESIS with Kelin Kardaal in early 2013

The comparisons to Del Rey are plenty. Both women describe having insular upbringings, Genesis in a small Vancouver-adjacent town, Del Rey in icy Lake Placid. Both worked out the kinks in their personas, both on paper and in self-presentation, via a number of short-lived projects (Del Rey was Lizzy Grant, Lizzy Grant and the Phenomena and Sparkle Jump Rope Queen before "Video Games" catapulted her into the public eye). And each, perhaps naively, debuted on the larger world stage with every intention of leaving their artistic past lives to collect dust in the dark annals of cyberspace, fully formed apparitions from origins unknown.

There is another important commonality between these women that must be noted, and that is their commitment to the images they conjure in the music that they have shared at every point in their respective timelines. For all the ballyhoo about her high gloss pinup transformation, in ditching Grant for Del Rey Lana never wavered in her storytelling - the woman scorned, but too attached to walk away, is as present on early songs like "Hundred Dollar Bill" as it is on the album cuts ("Blue Jeans,""Ultraviolence") that caused such a stir. Similarly, Genesis has remained scandalizingly open in every iteration, a proudly bisexual millennial whose carnal proclivities are as fluid as the sea she so often references in her own work.

"Hair Like Water Wavy Like the Sea," a collaboration with Awful Records labelmate ABRA, appeared on the breakthrough 'World Vision' mixtape

To this day, there exist detractors who dismiss Del Rey's major label output as fabrication. The opportunity that major label money afforded her to elevate her desired aesthetic is relentlessly held up as Exhibit A in the case against her as a legitimate artist, despite nearly a decade's worth of recorded material readily available to prove otherwise. As Genesis Mohanraj finds her artistic persona at long last fully formed, one can only hope the public eye, and mind, is open wider.

ONTD Latino Original: A guide to watch Luis Miguel: La Serie

$

Hola ONTD!

The best Netflix show you're not watching is Luis Miguel: La Serie
A riveting (mostly) historical account of the life of Luis Miguel and his rise to fame in Latin America. It's beautifully shot tv, it's framed and staged with great care, all with genuine singers singing in reality. The actors are great, the music is AMAZING because it features the very best of Luis Miguel's iconic hits from the 80's. It features Diego Boneta, of Rock of Ages (non)fame, who went to great lengths to prepare and channel El Sol.

To enhance your enjoyment of Luis Miguel: La Serie, you probably need a guide of Mexico's celebrities and their trashy stories.
So I'm here to provide it, y'all!

Luis Miguel and his friends

On his early years of teen throb, Luis Miguel and his trashy friends were the original Entourage. His friends later went on to be total flops in Mexico cause their biggest accomplishment was like, Celebrity Big Brother. People also say that Luis Miguel abandoned his friends when he got bigger/richer but whatisthetruth.gif

palazuelos_1.jpg
Here are portrayed El Burro Van Rankin, Miguel Aleman and Roberto Palazuelos. Allegedly, Miguel is the only one still friends with Luis Miguel and one of the people who convinced him to let the show portray his life.

luismi-3.jpg

A frenemy of Luis Miguel was Academy Award Winner Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu. Outside of Mexico (cause lmao even I didn't know this), he got his start as a radio host who had a popular show in the 80's titled. The show implies that Luis Miguel and his girlfriend circa 87-88 Mariana Yazbek broke up because she was seeing her ex again: Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu! Subsequently, Luis Miguel would record Culpable o No in relation to his break up with Mariana.

luismiguel4.jpg
He is pictured here with Luis Miguel's other flop friend Burro, because they worked together at the same station around the time of all this draaaaaama.

Luis Miguel and his girlfriends

So, Luis Miguel is said to have had around 40 gfs that were "famous". Idk if that's true and I didn't fact check it because Patty Chapoy doesn't have a dedicated wiki about this (she should tbh). But the show is expected to feature a number of them.

On the show so far, we have seen Mariana and Sophie. Mariana appears for far longer and their relationship is much more explained but Sophie is actually code for Stephanie Salas. Stephanie is a Mexican D lister whose claim to fame was that her much more famous cousin, Alejandra Guzman was an icon of Mexican pop. Stephanie is the mother of Luis Miguel's firstborn Michelle Salas. Luis Miguel ignored her for a long ass time and only recognized her as his daughter in like 2009. Trash.

Pictured: Stephanie on the show aka "Sophie" and then below, Stephanie IRL with their daughter Michelle.

192805.jpg
5afae146d1ce1.jpg

Stephanie Salas is angry these days, claiming the show misrepresents her and is chronologically incorrect, because her daughter had been born when Luis Miguel was with Mariana. But sis can't math because I'm math challenged and I figured this out:

Luis Miguel and his parents

For many years, Mexican news outlets have reported and discussed the case of Luis Miguel's mother, who disappeared in the late 80's. She hasn't been heard of since, and Luis Miguel has said on multiple occasions that he doesn't know what happened to his mother.

Pictured here, Luis Miguel as a bb with his mother and actress Anna Favella who portrays her on the show:

On some of those investigative reportings by one or other Mexican outlet, guests have often speculated that Luis Miguel's awful, controlling and lying father killed his mother. But we won't know if this is addressed on the show for a few more episodes. What's certain is that everyone watching hates Luisito Rey and with good reason as the show portrays him like the ugly human he was.

Pictured here, Luisito Rey irl and actor Oscar Jaenada, who portrays him:

Luisito Rey was pretty much a flop in the 80's when he realized his son was a better singer and should be a star. He was a controlling jerk and stole, lied, tricked people and manipulated the image of his son. Luis Miguel fired him from all his businesses in the late 80's and the show is in the process of exploring the full extent of his awfulness.

ONTD Original: Stevie Nicks turns 70!

My wondrous queen, Stephanie Lynn Nicks turned 70 yesterday (DOB: May 26, 1948). A member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (Fleetwood Mac were inducted in 1998), Fleetwood Mac's Rumours remains the 5th best selling album of all time and has released 8 solo albums to date. Stevie Nicks and longtime musical collaborator Lindsay Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975 after Mick Fleetwood asked Buckingham to join the band (Fleetwood Mac) but he insisted he and Nicks were a package deal.

I made a choice to not be married and not have children, because I wanted to be a big-time rock & roll star. And people can get mad at me for saying this, but I did not feel that I could do both. I would have been, I think, a great mom, and I would not have put my career first once I had a baby. Even in my really bad, drugged-out days, I didn't go away. I still toured, still did interviews. I never gave up the fight. That's why I'm who I am today, because I didn't leave. And I think I made the right choice. (Nicks has said some version of this quote throughout interviews during the 00s)

The queen, the legend, inspiration to many and rivalled by none, my ICON! The incomparable, original elusive chanteuse STEVIE NICKS!!
