Inspired by this post. This post is a more of a playlist to highlight some tracks from some of rap and hip-hop's most recent additions to the genre with some artist who haven't had a lot of mainstream success their contemporaries have had. Besides, some people seem to think the only female rappers now are Cardi "Knuck if You Buck for Offset" B and Beyonce's Soundcloud Struggle flow. I don't have a lot of factoids about each artist, but please if you find someone you like on the list, listen to more of their stuff! Happy listening!
Jamila Woods’ – “Zora” and Noname’s “Blaxplotiation”
Okay, so Jamila is more R&B, but Noname is a rapper with two phenomenal albums. But both talented women grew their fanbase by collaborating with cornball Chance the Rapper. So Chonce, you can go home now, we don’t need you anymore.
Maliibu Miitch - "The Count"
Rico Nasty – “Countin’ Up”
Yes, represent for the alternative black girls!
Saweetie – “Pissed”
She’s not sweet with this flow. Stop, did you see what I did there? Did you see it? Did you catch my punny? I’ll stop now.
Tierra Whack – “Whack World”
Simpson – “Switch Lanes”
Kash Doll – “Check”
Are you eating shrimp on a private island? I’m not, but this song makes me wish I was.
G.L.A.M. – “Zoom”
MaryGold – “Steezus Christ”
Connie Diiamond - "Black Tee Freestyle"
Omeretta The Great - "Space"
This song is really good and extremely heartfelt and shows a vulnerability in rap that we sometimes don't get to see from black women.
DonMonique - "Black Kate Moss"
Leikeli47 - "Tic Boom"
The song is not only great, but black women in menswear with some slick choreography is - look this video did not come to play y'all.
Chelsea Reject - "KidultHood"
ONTD, share, share, share some of your favorites!
