There is a challenge going around Instagram where people are either doing their makeup like Bratz dolls or drawing Bratz dolls (you can see some of the posts with the hashtag #bratzchallengeHERE ) which inspired me to make this post. As a kid, I used to play with Barbie dolls but I just didn't like their fashion sense (and I couldn't afford the collector's editions that had better clothes) and they all sorta looked the same so I really loved when Bratz dolls came out. They weren't all white and blue-eyed, and they weren't only an accessory to Barbie. All Bratz dolls were equally advertised. They weren't sold as one doll being the most important one like with Barbie dolls, they were sold as a group of friends. Which is why I loved the cartoon much more than Barbie movies too.
Barbie owner tried to kill Bratz franchise.
In 2006, Mattel filed a 58-page lawsuit against MGA Entertainment for intellectual property theft because the creator of Bratz came up with the dolls while he was still working for Mattel.
At the time, MGA chief executive Isaac Larian told the Telegraph, “It's an absolute pure act of desperation. Mattel lives in a fantasy land. They don't own Bratz and they know it. It's all fabricated paranoia from a company that's lost its leadership.” MGA then accused Mattel of stealing their idea because they made the My Scene brand.

Some parents claimed that Bratz dolls were promoting promiscuity with their clothing and make up. Other people claimed that Barbie dolls were all a size 0, while with Bratz you knew that you couldn't grow a head that big, get rid of your feet and nose to match these dolls which implied that it was easier to copy Barbie dolls with more than just clothes.
