For the past year and a half, Madonna's eldest child Lourdes Leon has been quietly releasing music under the name Lolahol. Back in October, she paid homage to her iconic mother with the music video for a track called "Spelling," taking aesthetic cues from the Chris Cunningham-directed clip for "Frozen" (1998).
Now, the nepo baby is taking on another gay icon—Judy Garland—with a drum-and-bass cover of "The Boy Next Door," introduced in the 1944 musical film Meet Me in St. Louis. Produced by Kiri, "Boy Next Door" was premiered by the 27 year old at the launch of a new collaboration between Dr Martens and Ganni in Bushwick.
Since its release, "The Boy Next Door" has frequently used as a perfect example of how to advance story and reveal a character's emotions efficiently onscreen. It has been covered by Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra and Sarah Vaughan, among others.
