This post is my shameless attempt to bring more attention to this show because I'm obsessed.#InterviewWithTheVampire is now #CertifiedFresh at 98% on the #Tomatometer, with 35 reviews: https://t.co/M4Fj9LM2iTpic.twitter.com/MZxwP1m5d3

- The lead character Louis de Pointe du Lac is played by Jacob Anderson of Game of Thrones fame. It's about as far from a colour-blind casting as it can get (looking at you, Bridgerton) since it actually deals with the racism, struggles, and implications of a Black gay man living in early 1900s New Orleans. Jacob gives an outstanding, layered performance throughout.
- Sam Reid (Belle, The Newsreader) as Lestat is about 100 times more compelling to watch than Tom Cruise ever was in the 1994 movie. Sam is also a total Vampire Chronicles fanboy and has a near-encyclopedic knowledge of the source material, which is kind of adorable, really.
- The two leads have insane chemistry together. Kind of astonishing, considering they did their auditions/chemistry tests via Zoom. The chemistry shines through every interview and joint appearance, to the point that everyone, including their castmates and interviewers, tends to always comment on it.
- It's deliciously queer. The romantic relationship between Louis and Lestat is front and centre. Without spoiling anything, episode 4 features a lovely scene explaining the difference between homosexuality and bisexuality. Heads up, though. Their relationship is toxic, messy, and, at times, very abusive.
- Bailey Bass kills it (pun very much intended) as the child vampire Claudia. In this show, the character of Claudia is 14 years old when she turns. Basically, she is a woman forever stuck in the body of a puberty-ridden teenager, which makes for a compelling narrative.
- The show has been renewed already, so you don't have to worry about possible cancelation after the first season.
- It currently sits at 98% on Rotten Tomatoes and at 81% on Metacritic.
